Certificate of Excellence
Built of cobble and ballast stones in 1817, as a cotton warehouse, our converted, historic hotel overlooks the Savannah River, right on world famous River Street. Many rooms are decorated with period furnishings, four poster beds, oriental rugs, hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, maintaining its historic charm. Located just blocks from downtown Broughton Street shopping district & City Market, cars aren't needed, as all is within walking distance; Valet Parking is available. With four restaurants on property (guest are offered a discount) located within the building are many shops, guests don't have to venture far! Sight seeing trolleys pick up / drop off in front of our hotel and the Savannah River boat is docked across from our property.

We enjoyed our stay at River Street Inn in Savannah. The beds were very comfortable and the welcome reception with wine and snacks were exceptional. The location could not be better! We stayed twice during a road trip and will do so again when in that area.

Had a great stay at River Street Inn! They were very accommodating and upgraded our room. The beds and pillow were soft and comfortable. The shower was amazing, I didn't have to crouch under the shower head. The hotel offers complementary hors d'oeuvre and happy hour drinks for guests. The location was great for strolling the streets of Savannah

Your staff members at River Inn; Mimi, Ashley and Ms Val made staying at your hotel the best experience we ever had. Ms Val made us very comfortable during a strange time for traveling with CoVid19. She made sure everyone was cared for and followed gloving up to get food and we (in the most part) practiced social distancing. She made our 4th of July a very special time with entertaining us and some other patrons of the hotel, on her own time. If it wasn't for these ladies, Ms Val, Ms Mimi and Ms Ashley I'm not sure if I would ever think about River Inn as a destination spot with limited amenities as compared to what the Hyatt, Marriott, and the Westin hotels close by, may have had available for us. But as long as these employees are representing your hotel, I'll definitely return to the River Inn. We self parked during our stay but your parking attendant was not offended about us not valeting. We didnt want anyone else in our car due to CoVid19. He was still helpful with directions and any questions we asked. Sorry I can't remember his name. He was tall and slender and worked Friday afternoon and throughout the weekend. Overall, we shockingly, had a wonderful experience at the River Inn. See you soon.

I booked my stay here on a whim and so glad I did! The value was impressive! The staff were all so professional and friendly. Super helpful. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The location is perfect for everything you want to do and see in Savannah. The room was quiet and clean. The decor is unique with a little steampunk vibe to it. Made for the perfect weekend getaway.

It's a 200+ year old building between Bay Street and River Street. Great location if you want to be in the middle of everything, so you won't need your car while you're here. The rooms are beautiful with original exposed brick walls and nice appointments. However, that's as good as it gets. To start, knowing parking in Savannah is challenging, I opted for the valet service - $37 per day! Considering they charge $20 per day to self park, I chose to let them deal with it. They ended up parking our car in front of the hotel, okay I could have done that. When we checked in, we walked into the lobby which is on the fourth floor. We were given Room 326. Remember this room number, it is on the third floor right under the lobby. Needless to say we heard every foot step and rolling piece of luggage, even in the early morning hours. When we left our room the next morning, our door wouldn't latch securely. I mentioned the problem to the front desk and they upgraded our room. This time we were on the fourth floor. Much better room!!! I'm not certain we would have stayed for the second night in the first room. All this next day we noticed our car still parked in the same spot....again I could have just parked it there. We were there for two nights. On the second morning, after we had called the front desk to inform them we were ready to check out, and for them to send up a bell hop and get our car ready, we were told it would be 30 minutes or so before the bell hop would get to us. Okay, so they are busy, no big deal. After about 45 minutes there was a knock on the door, the bell hop got our bags and we proceeded to check out. This is when we noticed our car was gone, nowhere in sight! The valet presented us with a key and pointed to a car.......not ours. Apparently the staff had transposed ticket numbers, causing the valet to retrieve the wrong car. Not a terribly big deal, and simple mistake, but just unnerving stand there on the sidewalk wondering if your car has been stolen. The big problem I see with this hotel is with either the staff or management. The customer service is not on par with a property in this price range. While they will do their job, it's not done with a smile. Again, the lack of enthusiasm could be flowing down from management. Also, the efficiency of this property is lacking. Take for instance the handling of our car. They knew we were checking out on a certain day. Our car was parked literally at the front door for most of our stay. However, on the evening prior to our departure, they decided to take it to some parking garage. And we were not alone. There were others waiting with us that stated their cars were moved as well. Having spent a short time working in the hotel industry, I can't understand why they don't go through their departure list, pull those tickets that are using the valet service, and have those cars staged in the parking area ready for their owners.

I appreciate you taking time to provide us with a review of your recent experience. I would like to apologize to you for the inconsistencies of the staff that you interacted with. This is certainly not our par level of service and for that I am sorry. The hotel does not have any onsite parking due to the location on Bay and River Streets. Due to this we work with a valet company to offer a valet service to park vehicles across the street in one of the cities parking facilities. You are more than welcome to park your vehicle on the street and pay the meter or utilize the parking garage for self parking as well. Vehicles are only allowed to be kept up front for a specified period of time as the city of Savannah marks tires and will ticket vehicles in our valet area as it is owned by the city. To prevent our guests the burden of having a parking ticket we move the cars to and from the garage. Depending on the number of check outs in a given day we pull the vehicles up front, however as you can see that space is limited and we are not able to keep cars there all day. I would like the opportunity to speak to you further about your experience. I can be reached at jrosa@riverstreetinn.com or at 912-234-6400.
