Hotel is in need of an update. For over $400 night I expected nicer. Common areas were cluttered, especially the lobby area. Restaurant on the top of the building wasn't very clean and the service was not good. One morning for breakfast we were sat at a dirty table and given day old coffee. Valet guys and front desk staff were very nice though. Only good takeaway from the visit. The JW Marriott pretty much on the same block is much nicer and not much more. I would advise not staying at Cotton Sail as it is way overpriced. Too many better options in the area like JW.
The Cotton Sail was the perfect hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary weekend in Savannah. The staff members were incredible. Special recognition for Brian at the front desk. The team surprised us with a room amenity to celebrate the occasion, and numerous staff members verbally wished us a Happy Anniversary throughout the weekend. We spent 3 nights in a River View King room on the 4th floor. Our room’s Juliet balcony allowed us to waive at the Riverboat cruisers and shipping boats, and watch the all the action along the Savannah River. We also loved the comfy bed, high ceilings, and strong air conditioning. The soundproofing of the room was excellent, and we rarely heard any street noise, which can be a big issue in some other nearby Savannah hotels. We enjoyed the short walks from the Cotton Sail to see the recent revitalization of new shops and restaurants that have opened on River Street and all around the historic district.. The Cotton Sail valets staff were very hard-working in 95 degree heat, and we felt that the daily valet fee was well worth it. We are Hilton Diamond members, and we love visiting Savannah. We’ll definitely be back to stay the Cotton Sail Hotel!…
This hotel is in serious need of a major update - it might only be interesting for historical purposes, but it should not be 4-star at the same prices charged by JW Marriott in the same location. The room was dirty, and the bathroom had mold all over the place - we actually found a cockroach one night in the bathroom. There was a musician (not a very good one) playing all night near our window on River Street and there was a family with a little child running on the creaky floor above us at 5:30 in the morning. The Concierge was more interested in his cell phone than helping the guests. At the very least, Hilton should be honest in their advertising for this property and nor glorify it.
The hotel is located in a very noise portion of Savannah. My daughter and I were kept awake until 3am from loud bars/clubs and their patrons. The hotel is beautiful but not worth the stay if sleep is a priority. Great location for those who are young and plan on staying out until the early morning hours.
The hotel oozes history from the moment you arrive. We stayed in a 2 Queen river view room and had an amazing view of the river and bridge. The room had wide plank hardwood floors and 15-20 ft ceilings, which made the room feel very spacious. I loved walking out onto the balcony in the morning and seeing the cargo ships coming in or leaving. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful during our stay. They had a smile on their face each day and made sure to say hi every time we walked through the lobby. The hotel is located on the river walk, which was a perfect location for our family. Easy walk to a number of restaurants, stores, and sweet shops (candy and ice cream). Also, just 2 blocks away from City Hall, Bull Street, and the City Market.
This hotel was disappointing. We chose it because friends gave it a glowing review. For us it did not live up to 4 star status. The valet cost is $39. There is zero help or offer of help with your bags. The use of a digital key is wonderful. But, I was not able to choose my room using the app check-in or upgrade my room. Apparently the hotel was sold out for this weekend. Our room was a king and was located on the 3rd level below the lobby and under the front porch. The view is less then desirable and may include cars/trucks close to your window resulting in needing to keep the drapes pulled. If you stay at this hotel and can choose your room stay above the 4th floor. Also choose a River view room. If you get a balcony, be aware you won’t be able to sit on them. They are very tiny! The hotel has a roof top bar but for our stay it was frequently closed for private events. The bar for the hotel guests was unusable due to the volume (Loud) of the music. On the plus side the room was a nice size and had 2 comfortable chairs. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel has an elevator down to River Street. Unfortunately while we will be back to Savannah we will not choose this hotel.…
Staying here for several days at a local conference. Rates were really high the weekend I started here, and not sure the hotel is worth so much. But it is possible to have a good stay here, if you are careful (or lucky) with your room assignment. I didn’t pay extra for the river view, so I have the city view side. Only the 5th floor is above ground level on the city side: the 4th floor is the entry level, and people could walk by your room. I recommend the 5th floor. I didn’t see the views from 3rd floor or below, but they should be below a cross walk, and probably a bit dark. Not as loud down there from street noise, as the windows don’t have great sound proofing. It’s not too loud, and with the blackout curtains closed, it was quiet enough to sleep. But it’s not silent either. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when I was here, so the HH vouchers are only good for drinks at the Nest, or some snacks from the snack area next to the front desk. There are lots of places nearby for breakfast, so if you enjoy cocktails, using the vouchers at Nest is a good deal. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. My room on the 5th floor was a reasonable size, and the bathroom was nice with a good shower - and hot water. The a/c are the split type with a wall mounted fan unit that kept the room cool. It was fairly quiet and the vanes could be adjusted.…
I really wanted to like this hotel as I approve of repurposing old buildings and maintaining the historic fabric of a place. It also has a great location with ship traffic providing endless entertainment. When else are you going to be less than 100 yards from a 100,000T container ship? Unfortunately the conversion from an old cotton warehouse was done on the cheap. It is ridiculous to have single pane windows and doors facing the road and the river. While there wasn't much crowd noise on a cold Monday night, a cruise ship moored right outside and we had to listen to its diesel engines all night. The plumbing is also suspect with a strong smell of sewerage coming from the basin in the bathroom. Despite the friendly staff at the front desk and the restaurant/bar on the top floor, I'm afraid I can't recommend this hotel.…
Very over rated hotel with very poor service. The House keeping service was almost non existent. Hotel rules were to have your house keeping request for that day in by 10:30 am which is fairly difficult when your on vacation. The rooms are fairly small for the price and not at all soundproof. One night a guest could be heard snoring through our wall and another night guests were partying and dancing above us followed with 6 am stomping on the floor before they left. We definitely will not go back to the Cotton Sail and likely avoid a Tapestry Collection in the future.
Staff was attentive and friendly. The rooms were clean, there is a distinct smell because rooms have wood flood and not dirt or mold as other reviews suggest. Breakfast a little overpriced even with the food credits.
