My wife and I spent one night here while in Savannah during our honeymoon trip to the States from Japan. We felt at ease because all of the necessary Covid-19 precautions were in place like masking, limited housekeeping, social distancing, etc. We stayed in the beautiful suite on the 2nd floor of the main house. It was huge, and beautifully decorated. We had lots of privacy, including our own balcony with rocking chairs and a table where we had breakfast. The Christmas decorations in the house were cozy and warm. The breakfast was good but limited while we were there due to Covid-19, with not many hot plate options. The location was perfect for walking around Savannah, with close access to several tourist spots, including Forsyth Park just around the corner. They seemed a bit short staffed at check-in and we had to wait a bit, but understandable given the pandemic, and the manager was very friendly when we needed to talk to her at check out. We would not hesitate to stay here again during future visits to Savannah.

Savannah is lovely, and the Savanna Bed and Breakfast Inn off Forsyth Park is a wonderful location, but be forewarned: At check-in, we were given printed instructions to make requests for fresh towels or housekeeping services at breakfast in the mornings. All requests were ignored with the Covid excuse of having only one housekeeper available for all 29 accommodation units. Unfortunately, my room had only enough hot water to fill about two inches in the bathtub. This continued for four nights that we stayed there. When the issue was reported to front desk management, I was actually told, “That usually just happens in the mornings.” This might have been forgiven in a hot, sultry, summer Savannah; however, at 52 degrees, it was a ‘chilling’ experience. Again, due to Covid, ‘breakfast’ was a cello packaged affair, and a cooked breakfast was no longer served. The temperature was also rather brisk in the mornings, and some guests had to sit outside on the deck as there were not enough tables in the indoor breakfast area. So, forgive me if I might suggest that this business should close its doors until a time guests can be provided an environment conducive to the grace of this city.

As I understand it, we offered to upgrade your room when you discussed the hot water issue with the staff and you declined. We have never ignored a request from any guest and work hard to accommodate their wishes. COVID is still a problem and we are going to continue to do anything we can to keep our guests and our staff safe. We do not go into the guests rooms until after they check out but we offer fresh towels and toiletries every day. We are all set for chilly weather as our porch has several heaters and pull down shades to hold in the warmth. You are forgiven for suggesting that we close. Savannah Bed & Breakfast has been in business for over 40 years and will continue to serve our multitude of happy guests.

On first entry, I wanted to shriek. The advertised couch was filthy and covered by an equally dirty polyester, ill fitting, brown slip cover. The bed has a very squishy foam topper on it, which quite frankly, I was afraid to lift up and look under. To be fair, the rest of the place was as advertised, but these two items (the biggest pieces of furniture) were very disappointing and icky. Breakfast consisted of some mini, dry cinnamon rolls and scones that were purchased yesterday (or earlier), coffee, water (no juice), milk and cereal. There were some very mini quiches that were like lukewarm as well. Be advised that the street parking requires a parking pass for $12 a day.

Thank you for the feedback. Most of our guests rave about the mattress toppers, but we understand that there are different comfort levels for each person. Our deluxe continental buffet is pretty amazing considering our limited staff and the homemade frittatas have been a big hit. Sorry they were not to your liking. We now have added an "oatmeal bar" with various items to add to your oatmeal bowl that is very popular. Also, we have multiple heaters and pull down screens on the porch that make it very comfortable for guests to enjoy their breakfast. We purchase parking passes from the City of Savannah and sell them to our guests for the same amount.

I stayed in the Blue Cottage for 5 days in October. In the bathroom the floor tiles were cracked. The toilet paper holder was significantly rusted. The sink had a large chip. The rugs were very old and in need of replacement. There was a musty smell also. My friend stayed in the Jackson Suite which was much bigger and much newer with two beds (I had one) and a separate kitchen. She paid the same amount per night as I did. And because of Covid and staffing shortages there was no hot breakfast buffet. They did not tell us this before we arrived so that we might have made other arrangements. I would like to compliment Pam at the front desk because she did an excellent job. Friendly and very helpful. Also no housekeeping because of Covid and staff shortage.

Your feedback is appreciated, especially since you stayed for 5 days and gave no negative comments during that time. If we had known you were unhappy, we could have offered you a different room that may have been more to your liking. Each room is unique and, yes, some have been more recently updated than others. COVID has been rough on the hospitality business and we are working hard to recover. Since we do not have a cook the rest of the staff are beginning to feature a hot dish each day to add to our deluxe continental breakfast. Most of our guests are very understanding about this and we greatly appreciate that. Also because of COVID we do not want to enter the guests room when they are staying over. So, we are asking at breakfast if they need any towels, toiletries, etc. We are very concerned about keeping everyone safe. Thanks for the compliments about Pam as she is truly awesome!

Happy to hear that you enjoyed so many things about the Savannah B&B. Sadly, back in 1853 when Gordon Row was built, sound-proofing was not a part of the plan. We appreciate your sense of humor about that part of your stay. Hope your next visit will be quieter. What can you do!!
