Hubby travels and Marriott is one of the places he frequents. This was our first Bonvoy. Loved that it is set up with activities during the day for families. Staff nice and hospitable. Appreciated that there was always free water available (in water bottles). Absolutely enjoyed the bathroom products. And, for someone like me who has a ton of thick hair you are provided full sized bottles of products (not the tiny ones). So why 3 stars? And this was hard. 1) the room (though I’ve seen tons worse) does need some updates. The bathtub is peeling and the water pressure very modest. In our room it was constantly dark. Though there were lamps, none of them seemed to light up the room. Next to desk on the dresser was this entire panel for plugs and USB ports unfortunately it was dead and only for show. 2) noise: there’s the usual hotel sounds at all hours. My biggest issue would be the ice machine. The way it’s positioned in the hall at any hour of the day when patrons are grabbing ice the sound echos down the hall. Not completely intolerable. But annoying when it’s 1 am. 3) on various days there were s’mores out by the fire pit. This by far was a great activity. On Friday night a staff member was very orderly and organized with how this was handled. Fun had by all ages. On Saturday different staff member placed the required supplies down and disappeared. Kids without supervision took what they wanted. There was no horseplay. Kids were behaved. But there was also no supervision like there was the previous day. Not exactly sure what happened but one child did end up injured and the hotel medic was called. Granted I don’t know where parents were. I just look at it more like one night organized staff supervision no issues. Another no supervision and injury. 4) Smell: we were awaken at an early odd hour of the morning by a noxious toxic smell. 5) the hotel boast about their spa and gym. What we did not know until after arrival was that they were off site. You need transportation to get there. It’s not that it’s so far. Just more the point of arranging that.

Great as it is to stay in the historic district, gotta say it was so much nicer to stay at an upgraded but cheaper resort that looks across at the beautiful city with resort amenities. Hotel is right at the free city ferry that runs every 20-30 minutes to zip across to the river walk right in the middle of everything you want to see/ do. Plus parking is cheap and easier than the historic district. Highly recommended.

This was my second time staying at this resort. It is lovely. The rooms are spacious and everything is well-maintained. The pool can get kind of crowded, but it was lively and I liked the atmosphere. There are lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy and plenty of resort activities and treats. There’s a free ferry to the historic Savannah district (which you can see from the resort) but we drove in each time. Be aware that hotel parking is not free - you can do self parking in the lot ($20 per night) or valet ($35). I will definitely return to this location for future Savannah trips.

We stayed here after a family trip to Saint Simons Island. The hotel is on an island opposite the main riverfront district of Savannah. It has a great view of the ships coming in and out of Savannah port. We didn’t stay here long enough to play golf but they have a nice looking PGA course here and there is a nice spa as well. We had a corner suite overlooking the harbor front and facing downtown Savannah. For the money spent this is a good value. Staff is friendly and we would definitely come stay here again. Only negative is that the hotel is undergoing renovations so some of the lobby is unavailable and getting to the river ferry involves a circuitous walk through a parking garage and the next door convention center which isn’t obviously marked. Get a room in a high floor that is odd numbered for the best views from the hotel.

Excellent staff. Very friendly check in experience and at both bars. Disappointing that I was late for a business dinner as had asked when I checked in what time I should catch ferry to make dinner reservation. When I went down and boarded ferry at 6:50 pm they rather casually said, “Oh we’re not going to run any more tonight”. I asked how I could get to restaurant and he said “You’ll have to drive across the bridge”. Also, perhaps due to renovations but room 603 had a loud noise maybe every 5 or 10 minutes the entire length of my stay, including through the night making for very little sleep.

Dear Osprey89, Thank you for letting me know how much you appreciated the excellent service provided by our associates. I am glad this was the highlight of your stay, and I will be delighted to share your kind remarks with them. However, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconveniences you experienced from the ferry and disruptions in your guestroom. Although the ferry is run by the city, I will share your feedback with them as this is a great amenity for our guests. My team will also investigate the noise issue to ensure this is resolved. I appreciate all of your comments and hope to see you again whenever you return to the area. Be Well, Stuart Robinson General Manager

Public spaces are lovely. Grounds are well kept. Staff are outstanding. Location seems "out of the action" across the river but with the ferry across it's well placed- wish ferry ran later than 10pm though. Guest room we had was dated/average- really could use a refresh. The bed and pillows were comfortable.

We have stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times over the past few years. It has definitely gone downhill during this time but the biggest issue here is the staff. Simply put…they couldn’t care less about guest experiences. That is abundantly clear and extremely frustrating. We stopped overnight here with friends who booked the same room as we did. I checked in on the Marriott app 2 days prior to arrival and asked if there were any upgrades to a balcony riverfront room available since I have Gold status. They said no balconies were available. When I checked in, I put that we would arrive at 3pm. However due to traffic, we were delayed until 5pm, which I kept the hotel apprised of on the chat function. Imagine my surprise when we got to the hotel at 5pm and our room wasn’t ready yet and they had no estimate on when it would be ready. I was even more surprised to find out that our friends, who have Silver status got their room right away; they were upgraded to a riverfront balcony room and they arrived only 5 min before we did and did not check in online beforehand. We had dinner reservations across the River so we had to just put our bags in our friends room and weren’t able to freshen up or change before dinner since our room wasn’t ready. Since a key is needed to go upstairs in the elevator and our friends were already in their room, I asked at the front desk if they could give us a key so that we could take the elevator up to our friends room or if one of the employees could go to the elevator with us and scan their card so we could get upstairs. They said no that wasn’t possible and the only option was to have our friends come down to the lobby from the 15th floor. I mean, come on….you don’t have my room ready after you’ve known for 2 days what time I would be there and then you won’t take 2 minutes to give us elevator access?!? After dinner, we went back to the hotel and I got a message on the Marriott app around 9:30pm that my room was ready and to get keys even though they had called me a little bit earlier full well knowing that we were across the River and had been for a while already. Keep in mind, when I originally checked in online, I told them I would arrive at 3pm….so 6.5 hours after that the app notified me that my room was ready. We go up to the room and the door was wide open…that’s comforting…not! Absolutely no apologies from the staff that it took so long for the room to be ready. Nothing at all. I completely agree with one of the other reviewers who said that Marriott status and loyalty makes absolutely no difference to this hotel and their staff. Our friends who have never stayed there before had a much better experience and treatment than we did. The rooms themselves are definitely showing wear and tear….chips and stains on the furniture and carpet and hairs/debris in the bathroom. It was also extremely hot in the room even though we had the thermostat turned down to 68. We were all sweating all night long and it was miserable. To even further cement the notion that this hotel’s staff are not at all concerned about guest service, I had emailed the hotel manager, Stuart Robinson that same night and he couldn’t even be bothered to respond. It’s very disappointing because we have stayed here numerous times and each time it gets worse. I love the location and the view and the ferry across the river is fabulous, so I keep booking it, hoping the next visit will be better. However it is very obvious that a good guest experience is not important to anyone at this hotel. This starts at the top with the manager and absolutely includes the front desk representatives all of whom are completely indifferent to issues and concerns. If you are looking for a Marriott brand hotel in Savannah and choose this one, just set your expectations extremely low especially if you have Bonvoy status.

We visited the Westin in Savannah Georgia in June, we thought we were getting a two bedroom suite but when we checked out we were charged for two separate rooms. With a bill that we were not expecting over $3,000. After several phone calls to customer service and the hotel no one never returns my phone call. And now they say it was our fault because something couldn't be done over the phone had to be done online and we were never told this during several phone conversations. I will say employees were exceptionally nice and very helpful except during this matter. This is not the first time we've had an issue with the Marriott customer service. One time valet drove our car during our stay at a different Hotel, and when I called everyone said the Marriott did not own that hotel. Again no one wanted to help fix our problem, it seems that way again. Frustrating to expect a $1,500 bill and when we check out it's $3,000. Also it seems like being an employee or a bonvoy member doesn't do anything for you you get treated even worse. Krystalbuchanan@hotmail.com

Very nice and friendly staff however be warned if traveling as a family double bed is not big enough to accommodate a couple. It will be a tight night! Less than standard, almost twin or college type bed. Otherwise very nice, nice onsight restaurant.

Stayed here for a business trip and will not stay here again. It took 30 minutes to check in. They put $1298 hold on my card for incidentals. When I went to talk to the front desk about it the clerk was rude. The room was hot at night. The toilet ran off and on all the time. Two mornings I woke up with poop in my toilet that had to have come from another room!
