#53 of 123 hotels in Savannah
Like our Spanish-moss-draped city herself, Hotel Indigo® Savannah Historic District is the perfect mix of old and new. Our building—known to locals as the "Grand Lady on the Bay" due to her sweeping size—was once 19th-century mega-merchant Simon Guckenheimer's dry goods storage house and shop, which was filled with everything the South made best, from tobacco to canned peaches. The 1940s and '50s brought a grocery store with the city's first true coffeehouse. Now, the Grand Lady stands as a charming boutique hotel with modern style in a vibrant Ellis Square setting that reflects the essence of Savannah's renowned historic district. After a delicious breakfast or cocktail at our lobby bar, immerse yourself in our neighborhood's rich culture at City Market, located right next door. Then embark on one of the many fascinating tours Savannah has to offer; at least five of the city's iconic squares are located within roughly five blocks of our front door. Learn about the city's storied past before making your way down original cobblestone paths to famous River Street, where you can watch ships enter and exit the harbor while savoring Southern comfort food in restaurants that were once historic warehouses.

We stayed here previously and were pleased to book online on same day arrival with a special rate as IHG member. Our King Suite was very well done. Plenty of space in sitting area, nice wet bar with fridge and well done bathroom. Efficient check in was great. We purchased parking in the package which seemed like a discount from regular parking rate of $27 or $28 a day. Only complaint was our room was River Side. Hard to see River, but since it was East Bay St. the traffic noise was very noisy. Would definitely ask for a different location away from Bay St. Great location!

Karen at the front desk was amazing! She was very welcoming, patient, friendly. She did not get flustered when it got busy and was helpful with suggestions- Great asset to the staff! Hotel was very clean.

Hotel itself is fine. The few staff members they had were fine. ZERO safety protocols in place. VERY crowded and no support of social distancing. Sign at door to wear a face covering, but only about 50% of guests obliged, which was particularly concerning and VERY uncomfortable when you found your self in a crowded elevator with no on else wearing a mask. Staff did wear face coverings. I understand these are particularly tough times, however for those who want to be able to safely travel this is not the place for you.

Clearly, they are not trained to run a hotel. Long, long check in line. Only one person working on Friday and Saturday night. Towels are scarce. This place is looking for a crash site. Perhaps the new president is offering free money without having to work? Bar tender is great tho.

The hotel and accommodations were very nice, the room was clean and comfy but my issue is that i was startled awake at 3am with a random man standing in my room staring at me and i could NEVER get an explanation from the hotel how this happened. This person could have raped me, killed me or my family, or kidnapped my kids. The front desk clerk assured me they would call me back and explain what happened once they figured out how it happened but i never heard back from them , management has never spoke to me either ! My door was locked and the dead bolt was on so he clearly had been given a key to my room. My stay was months ago and i have been calling the hotel, emailing the hotel, leaving messages, and i called corporate and NO ONE has ever reached out to me. I was never refunded for anything. This was the first and last time i will stay at hotel indigo, i usually stay at the Hyatt regency and we will return there. My stay was actually at the end of august but i have been trying to communicate with the hotel and corporate since then so i finally decided to post my review. I was assured they would get to the bottom of it and they never did. The management and corporate never return phone calls so I’m over it. I disputed the stay with my credit card company but they said because i stayed the next night after the incident i couldn’t be refunded. What they failed to understand is they assured me the man who made his way into my room had checked out and my husband has a fishing trip planned and paid for months before with his friends. He had our car so i didn’t have a vehicle to help transport our stuff to another hotel until later Saturday night when he got back. Me and my sons were planning on just walking around downtown Savannah exploring while he was away. I didn’t want to ruin our short weekend trip so i agreed to stay hoping the hotel would do what they promised but clearly that didn’t happen.
