Hotel's Favorite
I love to travel and enjoy nice hotels. I can't say enough about Nemacolin. I recently had my first visit and was blown away. I had always heard great things but the property and attentiveness of the staff were beyond my wildest expectations. I took my father for a Father's Day weekend. We went out to Falling Water, which is a wonderful easy trip from Nemacolin. We stayed in the Chateau at Nemacolin. It was so elegant and well maintained. I felt like we were staying at Versailles. We also got an upgrade which added to the experience. Room service (harder and harder to come by these days) was fantastic and is available 24 hours a day. We had breakfast in the dining area of our room one of the days and it was marvelous. Beautiful presentation, great food, and still piping hot. And I can't imagine a better place to enjoy breakfast than the comfort and privacy of our beautiful suite. There is so much to do on the property. You can't even begin to scratch the service. What sets everything apart though is the amazing staff. From the valet to the front desk to the bellman to the servers (both room service and in the restaurant) they are right there as soon as you need them. I felt so well taken care of. I will definitely be back!

Our experience lived up to the fantastic experiences friends have had in the past. With customer service declining everywhere over the last few years, it was almost shocking to see that it is alive and well at Nemacolin. We truly felt welcome from the reach-outs prior to arrival, check-in, and everything once we settled in. Even the staff at the bars were more than just bartenders but true mixologists who could really help guide you if you weren't sure what you wanted. The food was spectacular and the spa experience was fantastic. The entire property was also beautifully decorated for the holidays, making it even more festive and special.

While visiting Pittsburgh we drove 60 miles to visit Nemacolin Woodlands to have lunch. We stayed there or drove there for lunch many times before! We even brought a Livery Company from London there for Thanksgiving in 2007! This time we were turned away at the gate after driving that distance! We were made to feel totally unwelcome!!! We tried the casino for lunch and it was so full of cigarette smoke that we couldn’t stay! We will not go back again!

Hardy’s Holiday Village was without a doubt the best holiday experience my family has ever had. The “elves” were the absolute best with the attention they paid our kids. I can’t speak highly enough about everyone of them. The best trip we’ve ever had to Nemacolin!

We had the best time at Nemacolin. We were there for 3 days and enjoyed some of the amenities of the resort. There are so many things to do at Nemacolin! It is a resort best for couples OR for families OR for a girl's (or boys') weekend. We had spa services (wonderful), went clay shooting (so fun), toured the wildlife park, and went to the bowling alley. We enjoyed an art tour and were fascinated by the number of artists and art pieces represented there. Golf really isn't our thing, but the golf course was beautiful. There is a carousel, bikes, snow tubing, horseback riding, pools, paintball, axe throwing, ropes course, and mini golf just to name a few other experiences there. We ate at Aqueous for dinner, (seafood restaurant), Lautrec (breakfast here), The Patisserie (breakfast) , and Fawn and Fable (lunch and dinner). Every single meal was delicious and so different. We had cocktails at the lobby bar at Falling Rock and at the Circle Bar. There are shops at the hotel as well as an ice cream parlor which was fun. The hotel rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We stayed in the Chateau. The turn-down service was my favorite room amenity. We did take a look at The Grand Lodge which was just reopening after a complete renovation. The attention to detail in the renovation is amazing. It is beautiful. I think we will stay there next time. There are also rooms at Falling Rock and we were told there are estate homes and townhouses to rent as well. Everywhere we looked there was something beautiful. The upkeep on the property was flawless. They were decorating for Christmas while we were there and I'll bet it will be beautiful. There were thousands of lights being installed. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Nemacolin offered a luxury experience. We cannot wait to go back!

I was treated to an overnight stay by my friend (I am a volunteer humane police officer and do not take time away for myself). Never in my life have I been so pampered. Sparkling wine when we checked in! The room was gorgeous -- two chandeliers! Then there was the sauna bath, robe, slippers, cookies before bed. We had a wonderful dinner at Fawn & Fable. The next day we had massages and pedicures. Somehow it feels like we fit a whole week of decadence and relaxation into 24 hours. It left me totally rejuvenated and ready to get back to my humane work for the animals!

Nemacolin is a wonderful luxury resort located in an isolated part of south-western PA. By luxury, I mean Robin Leach “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” luxury (they even have a picture of him in the Grand Lodge). The emphasis is mostly on customer service…wow. A close second is entertainment/activities which are numerous, including but not limited to; two golf courses, along with a golf training center and mini-golf. Indoor and outdoor pools, a zoo with animal interaction, hunting, tours, art and painting classes, of course a large spa…the list goes on. They have three main lodging resorts; the Grand Lodge, the Chateau and Falling Rock. The Grand Lodge is the original building from 1987 and parts of it looks it. It’s undergoing a major renovation, so there’s currently some construction going on. There are parts of it still outdated, but some, like the new Circle Bar, are new and beautiful. The Grand Lodge is where they have the Fawn and Fable restaurant and shopping at Laurel Lanes shops (this is essentially two large shops across from each other). The whole first floor (below ground) is the kids area with a pool, soda/ice cream shop and plenty for them to do; it’s impressive. The Chateau is the lavish and old-world well appointed resort building. Connected to the Grand Lodge, it has marble floors/desk tops and chandeliers, with a lobby bar. It takes you back in time in sense of southern luxury. The Falling Rock is the modern boutique resort (where we stayed). This is where the Aquious restaurant is and the golf pro shop. This is where all the golfing starts. The Woodlands Spa is across from the Grand Lodge. We spent half a day there for my girlfriend’s birthday. It has everything…the ladies will love it. The service is amazing to say the least. This is where they excel. Everyone is wonderful, and our room had its own butler service 24/7 which was wonderful (the only service disappointment was at the Circle Bar. I asked the young lady bartending for a Smoked Old Fashioned. She brought a drink with no presentation, and when I playfully questioned her about it, she became annoyed and curt in her response). She was clearly the exception; these thoughtful and talented people are there to please and they do a great job. Now we went during what was clearly ‘off-season’ (End of October). I will comment of some disappointments we had due to this; a lot of the activities were not available…a lot. They seem to shut down a lot of activities on Wednesday for some reason. Others were only available Thursday thru Sunday, including Rockwell’s restaurant and the mysterious ‘Blue Room’ for examples. This resort is not cheap, but I’m not wealthy either (I do well enough to go here though). Everything is priced high for a reason. My main cost disappointment was what I’ll say was about $180/day tax and service fees they charged. Overall, I would go back to this resort, say early spring or September timeframe when the ‘kids’ are back in school and experience activities we couldn’t before. I strongly recommend this resort if you have a loved one you really want to impress, or if you’re wealthy and just want to be pampered for a while…

I did not know about this resort until my son attended a collegiate golf event at Nemacolin this past week. WOW...what a great place! The leaves were beautiful; there was so much to look at and experience. We cannot wait to return for a week's vacation this summer.
