We wanted a peaceful, relaxing vacation where we could read novels and do a little day drinking while enjoying nature. And have great meals at night. With a few strategic choices, our stay at Nemacolin fit the bill. First, we chose to go when schools are in session and avoided the weekend by checking in on a Sunday. We opted for the townhomes so we could have a spacious, private deck with views and a full kitchen. The weather was great and we throughly enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the emus, Buffalo and cattle graze very close to our deck with rolling hills in the distance. The deck furniture is new and comfortable with a large table and umbrella. We ate at Aqueous, Baratolo and Rockwell’s. All were fantastic! The disappointments: The interior of the townhome was not nearly as luxurious as we would have liked. The decor is worn and dated. The 2.5 bathrooms are ridiculously small. Like cruise ship cabin small. Overall it was the vacation we were looking for. The trade off of luxurious interiors for a private, comfortable outdoor space was worth it.

We went to Nemacolin on a ladies trip for my sister’s 50th birthday. As we went the weekend after Labor Day, the resort was pretty empty. We dined at the Peak on Friday night by the pool. The staff was really helpful and accommodating. It was a little chilly and we wanted some soup. They did not have soup at the Peak menu. The staff arranged for the soup from a different restaurant at the resort and brought it there for us. Also there was a concert by the pool which we really enjoyed. The shuttle service is nice and reliable. We stayed at the Washington townhomes. Although they were pretty spacious for 4 people along with a deck in the back, we were not a big fan of the interiors. There were too many patterns and colors in the house and the red colored wall by the stairs with Washington silhouette frames was downright creepy. I have stayed in the Maple townhomes on an earlier trip and they are better. We ate at the two other restaurants on the property. Barattolo and Rockwell. Service at both the restaurants was exceptionally good. Clay, our server took good care of us at both the restaurants. On the whole it was a very enjoyable experience and I would go back there again.

One of the nicest resorts I have visited. Beautiful inside and outside. Activities galore ! I would recommend Nemacolin for family trips and business meetings. Something for everyone. Staff friendly and attentive. The only issue we had was the service at Bartellos resturant. Slow but good food.

The rooms are inexplicably, horrifyingly expensive for such a rural location. The Lodge at $600-700 can only be classified as in need of demolition and replacement. The food prices are as devoid of value as the room prices. Chateau starts at $1200 and Falling Rock is $1700, per night, only inclusive of tippable service. I can find no way to recommend this place except to say, come in for the day to play the very nice golf courses.

It's unusual to find luxurious, perfect service and also feel that the staff members are real people who really engage (not just courteous), The multi-million dollar art collection adds a depth and richness to an already beautiful resort and setting. The spa is a true gem...with something for everyone. And there's so much to do, you'll just have to come back again!
