Nemacolin hotel garners praise for its attentive service and modern, spotless rooms adorned with stunning decor, though some guests find the views and noise levels less impressive. The resort's diverse amenities, including a detailed design and an array of activities, along with an efficient shuttle service, are highly celebrated.

Detailed Reviews
We just returned from a short getaway with our college age kids. Everyone at the resort was so friendly and accommodating. Service was excellent all around. We got adjoining rooms which worked out perfectly for us. By the way, the rooms in the Chateau are very large and we enjoyed just hanging out there part of the time.
Our family came mostly to relax so we utilized the spa and fitness facilities. The spa was fantastic and the gym was very good. The kids wanted to ski so they headed up to Seven Springs one day which is not terribly far-less than an hour. The skiing at Nemacolin is good for beginners/intermediates and children, but it did not even appear to be open when we were there which was Sun-Wed after the holidays.
Because we purposely chose to come after the holidays, the resort was not crowded at all which we was wonderful for us and exactly what we had hoped for.
The reason for deducting one star are the food options. I believe they have more food options in the warm weather, but we were limited to Rockwells (fine dining), Aqueous (fine dining), and the Tavern. We ate at the Tavern one night and we were pretty disappointed with both the food and service. Since it's the only casual dining option open this time of year during the week they really need to elevate the quality of the food and service. The kids did get a pizza from PJs the first night were were there and they liked it, but that's about the only food PJs serves other than ice cream and it wasn't even open the other nights.
Since we had decided to spend our money on spa services and other activities, we passed on the fine dining at the resort. It literally would have cost us upwards of $350 (without tip and tax) each night to eat at the resort for the four of us. We are from the DC area and have lots of fine dining options and did quite a bit of that over the holidays so we would have appreciated a "casual" dining option other than the Tavern. One night we ventured into Uniontown and ate at Titwell Tavern which we enjoyed. Another night we at at the Stonehouse Tavern closer to the hotel. The Stonehouse food was "okay", but probably would not return. Be forewarned that there aren't many other dining options close to the hotel so you either eat on property or head into Uniontown which is about 20 minutes away.
We look forward to returning again, perhaps in the spring and checking out some of the area attractions such as Falling Water and Kentucky Knob when they re-open.

My husband and I originally planned to stay at the Breakers in Palm Beach for 5 days. But due to the big increase in COVID cases, and PA's new rules about testing and quarantining after going out of state, we decided it would be easier to vacation at a PA resort instead. I am glad we did. This was our first stay at Nemacolin and it was a very enjoyable one. I will say right up front, this is an expensive luxury resort, especially if you plan to indulge in onsite meals and activities. Therefore expect to drop a lot of money on a stay here. We were here for 4 nights in a concierge level room in the Chateau, and even with the AARP rate we ended up spending around $4k on our stay, including our room, meals, spa, shopping, and incidental activities. Plus a $100 - $150 for frequent tips to the people parking and bringing up our car, the shuttle drivers, bell staff, etc. (I recommend you bring at least $25 per day cash in small bills for tipping purposes. No self parking here.) We went out every day for side trips to places like Falling Water, Kentuck Knob, Flight 93 Memorial, OhioPyle, and other nearby places. The hotel is first class, and does not disappoint. Beautifully appointed in French Chateau style, even the huge hotel rooms have chandeliers in them. Our room was on the 5th floor Concierge lounge floor, and while you do pay extra for that, we found it to be well worth it. The lounge has more than just the typical wine and beer; it has multiple types of liquor and staff will make mixed drinks for you as well. My husband & I also really enjoyed the food & snacks, some nights we almost felt like we didn't need to eat dinner out. The bar and food in the lounge change throughout the day. We especially enjoyed the after dinner drinks they had like Baileys, Kahlua, B&B, plus wine and champagne was always available. The lounge has a variety of great little mini plates with delightful snacks and hors d'eouvres. For breakfast it is mostly pastries and fruit. The butler staff led by Keith are outstanding and they love to pamper you. Our butler shined our shoes and boots, and got bath salts for our room's whirlpool tub. They were always ready to do whatever was asked of them. The four main restaurants here are also outstanding, but again, very expensive. I would recommend Lautrec and Aqueous. We also enjoyed the spa, gym and shops. Some onsite activities were unfortunately closed. But overall, a very enjoyable stay and first class all the way! Will return.

We felt that Nemacolin was a solid 4-star hotel. The service during this snowy weekend was great at all the facilities and when requested. We did not stay in the hotel, but rented one of the homes (Greystone) for the space. We were able to upgrade from a townhome to Greystone and were glad we did so that our kids could have their own bedrooms and we could have a private hot tub. Because we upgraded to a larger home at a discount, we felt that the value of the home was about what we paid. We do not believe the home is worth the regular price. However, the home was extremely clean, the beds were comfortable and all of the amenities were new and in working order. It was also great to have housekeeping and hotel amenities but the benefits of a private home.
The service all around was excellent, particularly the housekeeping, the maintenance crew (AJ) who completely dug us out of the snow and even offered to start the car, and whomever helped fix the shower pressure and delivered wood. We also had a great check-in experience with Beth, and great service for two lunches at Apex (though the food there is typical on-mountain food).
In general, the quality of the food (okay) and price (too high) were to be expected for this hotel. We were not surprised or particularly disappointed. It was just expected. If we stayed again in a home we would plan to cook more dinners at home (as it was we only ate two out and the other two in, and ate breakfast at home every day).

Nemacolin is expensive, but it's also Disneyesque. It's got golf courses, miniature golf course, ski slope, fly fishing lessons and trout stream, shooting facility, bowling lanes, pools, a spa, ropes course, zip line, horseback riding, varied dining options, etc., etc. all around varied lodging options, artwork, old car museum, art gallery, old plane museum, terrific afternoon tea, etc., etc. It's certainly eclectic and you will NOT get bored. For our family, though, the animals were the highlight of the resort and our experiences. The resort has a large number of sheep and goats but also lions, tigers, gray wolves, black bears, mountain lion, and white and brown bison. We often heard the guttural and haunting "roars" of the lions and eerie and magical howls of the wolves. We were apprehensive about these animals before our arrival, worrying that they were at the resort for entertainment purposes only and might be housed in small, poorly maintained cages or enclosures. But we were very relieved and glad to see that they were housed in relatively large, well-maintained enclosures and help guests appreciate their behaviors and intelligence. They all seemed in good spirits and we frequently saw all of them play with their enclosure mates, including the bison and cows who sometimes had group play sessions. We saw one of the wolves, anesthetized, in a mobile clinic/medical trailer getting her teeth cleaned and saw her afterwards, after she had recovered from the anesthesia, happily greet her biological father. The mountain lion is alone and its enclosure is comparatively small, but it seemed well cared for. Overall, Nemacolin was a lot of fun that kept us busy every day. We wished we could have spent a full week at the resort because we felt it takes the COVID-19 pandemic and precautions to avoid its spread seriously.

My husband and I have been going to Nemacolin for year but this might have been our last trip.
We pre checked early in the am and front desk told us they will text us when room is ready. Never got a text so we went at 4pm to see what's going on, luggage was not in our room cause they didn't put a tag on it and couldn't find it. After 30 min me helping them locate our bags we finally got them.
Room service was over 20 min late with our food and it arrived COLD.
The worse thing was our check out, I have been charged for items I never purchased, credit for dining that came with my package was never applied, very sneaky how they try to charge you for thinks they shouldn't. After adjusting the price I checked my credit card and they still charged me the WRONG AMOUNT!
They did changes to the part with shops in lodge area and its absolutely terrible, it doesn't go at all with the style of the hotel. Looks like a cheap white mall.
The hotel overall is very pretty but pretty is not enough for the amount you pay, you also need a good service, which is lacking.
To sum it up, for the price you pay it was not worth at all!

Spent just a couple days there with a group of friends. We had fun wherever we ended up. My favorite spot was the cigar bar run by a delightful whiskey expert. It's located discreetly behind a plain wood door next to the cigar store, with only a brass plaque to announce it. You walk into a library out of the movies, dark wood paneling, fireplace and plush leather chairs with a heavy crystal ashtray by each chair. The bartender suggested several excellent new (to me) pours. He was a lot of fun. The clay shooting range was also outstanding, with a lot of challenging stations and a cleaning table at the ready when you're done. It's those little touches at Nemacolin. Drinks and food are expensive but you get your money's worth and the staff is great at affordable suggestions.

We decided to come to Nemacolin this year for a weeklong family vacation. The hotel grounds are very nice and very spread out. Two days into our trip however a few things started to go downhill. First one of our family members rooms began to smell like sewage. Because there’s a central air system the smell spread to the other block of four rooms. Staff were attentive and dehumidifiers and fans were placed in the room. About three days into our trip we were shocked to discover that all of the dining reservations we had made months previously were suddenly erased from the hotel’s system. We had to scramble to call restaurants and remake our dinner reservations. When we made the hotel aware of the canceled dining reservations they were very nonchalant and did not even apologize. We are a family of 11 staying here for an entire week! Also if you are traveling with children, ours are ages 9, 11, 13 and 15, you will find there are not a lot of evening activities. This is definitely a once and done place and you will find if you are traveling with children there is not enough to keep them busy for an entire week.

The first trip we took after Covid 19 was to Nemacolin. Actually we made our reservation before the Pandemic for my wife's Birthday. We had requested the Lodge but since it has not reopened yet they upgraded up to a beautiful room in The Chateau.800 square feet of luxury with crystal chandeliers. We enjoyed the 3 restaurants that are open and the pool area. It was fun in the evening to sit by the fire pit and just relax visited the zoo and had a private tour which was very interesting. I did not play golf but both courses look to be in terrific shape. The only negative was at the Spa, since I made the reservations for my wife and I .they raised their prices. Before we even had our service, when I checked in I was handed a bill for substantially more than I had been told originally. The person at the desk was nice enough to give me the old rate and then when I was in the relaxation room on the third floor this rude employee called me out to a stairwell to inform me that the prices are not negotiable. In addition the steam room and sauna were not hot enough. This facility is over 10 years old and other then maybe carpeting everything else is old. Also the hot tub around the adults pool did not work properly. The temp was fine but the jets did not work .All in all a very nice trip!!

We stayed the weekend and hope to return. Staff was universally excellent and I appreciated that masking by staff (except for housekeeping) was 100%. We dined at Rockwells and everything about the meal was excellent. We took advantage of some but not all facilities and everything was at least good.
For not being full (COVID protocols), I do not understand why our room was not available at check in. I will note that the room was impeccably prepared but housekeeping staff was visibly not masked several times so we did not allow them into our room during our stay. Room service carts were left for hours in the hallway.
Keep in mind that this is a very expensive resort, and top-notch in many ways. Housekeeping needs to get on the ball.

This hotel is stunning! Upon arrival outside and then coming into the grand foyer is beautiful! Especially all the chandeliers I think we loved the most! The guest rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous and everywhere you look in this hotel tells you that attention to detail has been put into it. The staff is amazing as well! From valet to the concierge to maid service and room service, the people who work here are so kind and friendly and always smile and say hello wherever you are in the hotel. We will definitely be returning, as there is so much to do that we would like more time to enjoy all the amazing amenities that Nemacolin has to offer! Really incredible experience. Thank you Nemacolin staff! You made our sons wedding weekend extra memorable!!

On site there is a Spa, swimming pool, lazy river, giant outdoor large screen tv to watching games by the pool, axe throwing, bowling, small zoo and animal safari experience. Shooting range is fun too. That’s off the top of my head, go on their website and see what they have planned at the resort during your stay.

Washington DC, District of Columbia10 contributions13 helpful votesWinter visit suggestions? Will there be snow in late December? We have a family of 4 with two teen kids who want to do snowshoeing, snowboarding, etc. Is it worth it? Which building should we stay in? Willing to spend a little extra
I can’t answer the question regarding the snow. When there is snow, they will have activities. We stayed in the townhouses that have two bedrooms. You probably should consider the single homes to accommodate your family size.
In the past you could book a spa treatment even when staying away from the resort. But, they changed that and you can only enter the grounds of the resort and use the facilities if you are staying there. You could call and see if that is changed, but I don’t think so
