Detailed Reviews
I have been coming to the 1840s Carrollton Inn for a number of years and each time that I have stayed, it has been nothing short of exceptional. The staff is so kind and courteous, which makes the stay that much better.
The Inn is located in a prime location, steps away from Little Italy, and short walk to Inner Harbor and Harbor East. This allows you the feel the glitz and glam of Harbor East, while still being able to maintain the homie feel of a traditional bed and breakfast. What more could you ask for?!
The unique decorations and furniture teleport you back in time to an era of elegance and sophistication. This is extremely refreshing since hotels these days are usually on in the same. If you are looking to spend some time with a significant other, I would recommend the Carroll Suite. The 4 poster bed could possibly be the comfiest bed that I have ever slept in. If you thought the bedrooms were gorgeous, just wait till you check out the bathrooms (the bathrooms rival what you get at the Ritz)!
The 1840s Carrolton Inn provides some of the best breakfast that I have ever had. You can taste how fresh the herbs are with the breakfast. I overheard that they get it directly from their organic farm, which makes it that much better. Check out the omelets or blueberry pancakes, you cannot go wrong with either!
I will certainly be back to the 1840s Carrollton Inn. The small business charm and friendly staff creates an unforgettable experience that you surely don't want to miss out on when visiting Baltimore. Do yourself a favor and check this place out

Our stay at the 1840s Carrollton Inn was amazing! We got the room of the month (The Congressional Room) so it was only $135 (& $12 for service fees which is completely standard), and it included a full gourmet breakfast for 2 (other places were charging $20 a person for breakfast room service)!
We walked down the block to eat in Little Italy for dinner and walked around the harbor (just across the street) for a nice evening stroll.
They have spa jetted baths and plush towels! They have a concierge bar downstairs with coffee, tea, water, snacks. They had COVID protocol set up to keep everyone safe and healthy!
It is a great location. We even took an Uber into Fells Point after dinner for an hour. They have a nice parking lot. They even have this adorable gift shop on the 2nd floor. Everyone was soooo nice and professional and the food was AMAZING!
They run a tight ship at this Bed and Breakfast to create the best atmosphere and stay as possible! The aesthetic is so well done! All of my friends RAVED about a post I made with only 2 pictures of the room - and that wasn't even the whole Inn!!! Thanks for this wonderful time!

Erin, your wonderful experience at 1840s Carrollton Inn made our hearts soar! We are so incredibly happy you were able to indulge in every aspect our of Inn. We're so pleased you booked our Room of the Month and experience the Congressional Room. Be sure to check our website before your next stay, as we offer a different suite or room every single month! We are proud of the breakfast served each morning as we use fresh herbs from our farm, Koinonia in Baltimore County. You are correct in stating that breakfast and parking are both included in your room rate- a wonderful amenity in Baltimore City where parking can be hard to find or expensive! Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon... invite your friends for a girls weekend once the weather gets nicer! Our outdoor courtyards are the perfect space for breakfast or cocktails after a day on the town.

Loved it! The Carrollton Inn is probably one of the best places I have ever stayed in all my years of traveling. It’s located in a historic rowhouse building in a great location that’s walkable to everything there is to see. I walked to Camden Yards, the Edgar Allen Poe cemetery, even Fells Point without any problems. Also nearby is the Little Italy neighborhood with dozens of great restaurants. It’s also not on a busy street so I never heard any noise from outside.
I booked this hotel for two nights not knowing much about it but since they had free parking (I appreciate that)and I was on a motorcycle I thought why not? This is such a great place to stay. The attention to detail, the personalized service, the made to order breakfast every morning, just awesome. The room was just fantastic! One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Big luxurious bed with beautiful furniture, a great bathroom and soaking Jacuzzi tub and separate shower, loved it! They have a lovely courtyard to sit and relax in as well.
I wish I could have stayed here all forever. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for the best of the best then stay here, you won’t be disappointed.

I barely slept at this hotel. Walls are paper thin. When they bring food to your door, instead of leaving it outside quietly, the hotel staff bangs on your door for a good couple of minutes. I ended up leaving one night early because I barely got any sleep. This was my first vacation since covid, and I'm a healthcare professional. So, being that I could not rest, I left early in need of sleep. Although the hotel staff offered another room (which had just been occupied and I didn't feel comfortable staying there), all I requested was a refund for the one night I left early. Stasha, the hotel manager, would not allow it. It's easy being nice when people are paying you, but how about being reasonable when they no longer are in need of your services. The hotel had plenty of other rooms to book, so it's not like my one night stay would make or break them. And this hotel is not a 4.5 star hotel. Walls have holes and are thin, furniture is old old and the service is only nice when you've made your payments. I rarely leave reviews, I'm just shocked this hotel received a 4.5 star rating.

Maya, we're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at 1840s Carrollton Inn and felt you needed to cut your stay short. If you had come to us your first or second night to tell us you were having trouble sleeping, we could have offered you another room. Once you alerted us that you were upset, we offered to upgrade you to a suite on the top floor with courtyard views which you declined.

Very nice place a block from Little Italy. We stayed in the Equestrian Room. Room comes with a gas fireplace, large tub, and an amazing breakfast. Staying on a Sunday night made it a great bargain, even more with free parking. We will definitely stay there again.

This was our first time staying at a B&B in Baltimore. Because of the COVID19 pandemic partial re-opening, we did not know what to expect. To our surprise, we were greeted with kindness and great hospitality. Breakfast was delicious! There is free parking in the side lot, and the location is within walking distance to Little Italy, Inner Harbor, and the main sites of Baltimore. I highly recommend it. Thank you to all at 1840s Carrollton Inn!

We booked 1840s Carrollton Inn quite a while back--actually called and spoke to someone on property to book. Between the time of booking and our actual travel date, got calls and frequent emails from the staff here.
Once we arrived, were a little apprehensive about the location and that you had to be buzzed into the property from the street.
Once we got inside and were greeted by the host, any doubt melted away. We were treated like royalty. We ordered early morning coffee delivered to our room the next morning. Our room was great with a large bathroom. Our traveling companions had a problem with a squeaky bed and the host on duty the next day bent over backward to change their room and they got a much better nights' sleep the 2nd night.
Made to order breakfast was excellent and served piping hot in our choice of location: courtyard, dining room or individual rooms.
At night, we enjoyed sitting in the lighted courtyard before retiring for the night.
Great location near Little Italy, the Inner Harbor . . . we Ubered to Fells Point for dinner one night.
We honestly cannot say enough good things about 1840s Carrollton and if returning to Baltimore, we definitely will rebook here. Was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it.

From the first step through the door the staff made us feel welcome despite us arriving late in the evening. We filled out the menu for breakfast the for the next day and went to bed. The bed it self was super comfortable and I slept well which is usual for me in hotel rooms. Breakfast was delivered promptly at our requested time and the food was great. We stay here when ever we are in Baltimore by the time you factor in location, free parking and free breakfast this hotel in a bargain. Look forward to our next stay here.

Overall, this was a nice place to stay. There is a free, first-come-first served parking lot for guests, very closeby. Employees were friendly, and rooms were clean and nice.
I'm not sure how other rooms are, but the queen bed in our room was a bit noisy, and not as comfortable as we had hoped. Overall, the rooms were comfortable.
The only really odd thing we encountered was that when we checked in, the front desk attendant told us that fresh baked cookies are provided nightly in the Parlor, she told us to stop down anytime after 7. The welcome paper in the room also mentioned this as well. Well, we stopped down around 7:15, looked around in the lobby/dining room/parlor/kitchen...etc., and found no one to ask. We stopped down a little after 8, same story. It was unfortunate, we were looking forward to the treat and were a bit disappointed. Very confused about what happened. Oh well.
Even though we were asked to wear masks when in public areas, only 2 of the 5 staff members were ever seen wearing a mask in public areas throughout our visit, and maskless patrons were not asked to put a mask on.
Breakfast was delicious and provided for free... you just fill out a menu the day before and clip it to your door with youru order.

Chris, thank you so much for your candid review of your recent stay. It disappoints us to hear that cookies were not baked last Friday and that our team was not wearing their masks (we are all vaccinated but will be speaking with them). Both occurrences will not happen again during your next visit! We're thrilled you enjoyed your breakfast and we suggest you stay in a different room or suite to indulge in another completely unique experience!

I had an amazing stay! As soon as I walked into my room, I said “I think I’ve died and gone to heaven!” The room was beautiful and I was lucky enough to get an upgraded room at no additional cost. In the morning, I enjoyed a gourmet breakfast in the courtyard, which was quite relaxing and a nice way to start the day! The location of the hotel is perfect as there many tourist attractions and local eateries in walking distance! The staff was extremely warm and welcoming and did everything possible to make my stay memorable. I will be returning very soon!

It is 50 miles (about an hour drive) from Baltimore to Frederick. As much as I enjoyed the 1840's Carrollton Inn, I recommend looking for a place closer to Frederick, unless you want to stay in the city for other reasons and don't mind the drive.
Best to phone the Inn directly to address specific needs and accessibility. Perhaps discuss what your plans are when in Baltimore to determine if the location of the Inn is best for you. There is definitely at least 1 step into the Inn from the front sidewalk with a fairly narrow doorway when one side is closed. I don't know where the other entrances are to the Inn. Perhaps there is another entrance via the courtyard. I can't speak to rooms on the first floor nor can I speak to bathroom accessibility and I can not remember the size of the elevator. I believe the elevator would accommodate a walker but I can't remember re: a wheelchair. It is an old building and some hallways may be narrow. The Inn has a delicious breakfast but best to ask accessibility and seating for whatever physical device may be needed (walker, wheelchair). Re: the parking lot. It is a short distance to the front door;feeling of safety is very individual. The parking lot is not level ground so may be difficult to navigate; I don't remember seeing Handicapped designated spaces nor lines for parking and it is a first come first serve when we stayed there. I imagine that it is possible that the lot might be full and /or cars parked very close to each other and difficult for access/egress. Hope this helps.
All rooms are based on double occupancy. Children over 2 years are $15 a day.
