Pros: Fine victorian B&B in a good location within walking distance of other restaurants, etc; great breakfast Cons: Its a B&B. Without A/C on a hot day and there are many in West Texas, could get pretty hot.

We enjoyed our night in Ft Davis, in large part because of our stay at the Veranda. The owner, David, was welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean, though it could use a coat of paint and a piece of art or two on the walls. The building and furniture is great - lovely antiques that legitimise how long people...

We had originally booked the Garden cottage but when we arrived and saw the inside rooms we asked to change. They were a bit more roomy, and we liked the feeling of being at home in the lovely main house. David, the proprietor, very nicely made the change and we settled in. We caught up on American Idol in the...

Old, historic, rustic and well managed by David and his staff. We really enjoyed our stay in Fort Davis and the Veranda Historic Inn. The floors creak, the doors creak, yet the room was very spacious with a large bathroom. Breakfast is out of this world. Chef is a very conversational German lady who knows how to cook. Lots of...

We stayed at this B&B as we drove through west Texas. We let the owners know that we were running a bit late, so they left our checkin information handy. We stayed in the Garden Cottage, which is separate from the main inn and has a lovely view of the garden and the Davis Mountains. We sat on our porch...

We, unlike the majority of reviewers, found The Veranda quite a disappointment. We were a group of 4: a couple and two single people. The singles stayed in the room 5 and the Garden Cottage respectively while the couple stayed in the Carriage House. Room 5 was a nice room but going out the back door to the Garden Cottage...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the Veranda. I feel that I must respond to several inaccurate comments in your review. As to the quality of the breakfast, we served a buffet all three days of your visit, with different entrees featured daily which have always been popular – I always check with everyone at...

Truly enjoyed our stay at The Vetanda Historic Hotel B&B. Quaint community of Ft Davis provided good food and easy commune to The McDonal Conservatory. The rooms were nice and spacious. We had room #7 with a comfy King bed right next to sitting room and dining area. My husband enjoyed the cozy TV room. The proprietor David can answer...

We came down to Ft. Davis to get away and attend the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Alpine. We booked the Garden Cottage due to the great Trip Advisor reviews. It didn't disappoint. The room is cozy and comfortable and private. The breakfasts are wonderful and the extra afternoon desert is just a pleasant extra bonus. David, the proprietor and Eleanor,...

The Veranda is a charming Inn in Ft. Davis. We were well treated and welcome. Eleanor makes a great breakfast and peanut butter cookies! Ft. Davis is 500 miles from DFW but worth the drive. The fort is nicely restored and interesting. Make sure you book your time at the UT Star Party at the McDonald Observatory, 16 miles out...

My partner and I visited Big Bend with our two dogs over the Christmas holiday. We stayed 3 nights at the Veranda and it was terrific. Room 4 is the best suite for a family with pets. It was comfortable and lots of room (two rooms) and a full bath. The breakfast each morning was excellent. If you are travelling...
