Very shabby, mattress needs to be replaced, bedroom lampshade was hanging in tatters, had to clean the porch cushions before use (covered with leaves and dirt), lobby furniture was dusty, no air conditioning (thankfully weather was cool).

Beautiful old building but it is not being well cared for. We had selected room 8 to have a siting area but the sofa was so broken down that it was not useable. Save your money and sit in the common areas. It also is time to replace the mattress. The room also needed a thorough cleaning as the ceiling fans were disgusting. The breakfast is heavy continental with a very great granola but no hot selections. Good location and good hot water for the shower. I don’t know how hot it would be in the summer though it does cool off at night because of the mile high altitude. I wouldn’t stay here again unless I knew some new or repaired furniture was here and they had cleaned.

We needed a stop-over while driving through Texas. My wife was impressed with quaint feel and look, but it is more old than quaint, and tired. There were marks on the wall that looked like the paint came off when a picture was removed, but no one bothered to fix the paint. There was switch handle missing on the bathroom light switch by the sink (dangerous), and a burned out light bulb on the light bar. Worst of all, the bed was very historic (old). Worst ever. Yes the owners were very nice and the breakfast, while minimal, was fresh and tasty. She changed her mind the next morning. All in all there are not too many choices near Fort Davis, and the price was good, so 3 stars.

While traveling with two other couples through the Big Bend area of Texas we headed to Fort Davis for some old fort and observtory excitement. Housed in this lovely, historic venue, we enjoyed the comfort, quiet and antiques, and the closeness to all that we wanted to enjoy. The staff are friendly and the breakfast, while continental, is plentiful and delicious.

Family of 6 including grandparents, parents, and two young granddaughters spent two lovely nights with breakfast in the big house. The Carriage House was perfect, complete with kitchen and vintage furniture. One highlight was daily resupplying of delicious home made cookies. The Inn was good place to stay as it is pretty near the McDonald Observatory which was our primary destination. Great place for all the right reasons!
