We found the Benjamin Young through searching on Google Maps for a historical and unique property to stay in as a special treat to each other for our holiday and wow we were not dissapointed! Emma and Lorin were the perfect hosts, friendly helpful and fun. The property itself is sympatheticically restored and immaculate in its presentation. The exterior and gardens stunning, and parking readily available on the street. The area is safe and friendly and with a great coffee place (Astoria coffee co) and pizza restaurant (Geno's) we enjoyed sitting in the dining room lounge or our room trying the many teas on offer. The room was gorgeous, big iron bed with comfy and spotless linens. A hot shower and great in-room sink for makeup and washing. We have functional cupboards and robed supplied too. The first floor had a fridge and microwave to heat to snacks and chill wine as we did most nights. The view from our room over the Columbia river was spectacular as night drew in, with the container ships lights on and the Sealion colony, it's a place we will never forget! Breakfast was served at 9am, with coffee from 8am. Each of the 4 breakfasts we had was great! The French toast was my favourite with the scrambled eggs a close second. Coffee was good quality and apparantly bottomless. We would sit with the other guests and chat about our travels and plans for the day. A nice communal experience. We wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this bnb to anyone we knew, a perfect classic and romantic getaway location with loads of fascinating rooms and lovely hosts. If you are travelling in the PNW drop by, it makes a great base and Astoria is lovely.

I went by myself and stayed in the Honeymoon suite for a solo writers retreat (is that weird?). I don't leave reviews a lot but I had to -- Emma made me feel so welcome while I was there! She and Lorin went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable during my stay and to get to know me. The place is beautiful and the breakfast is wonderful and different every morning. The parlor and dining room are cozy and classy to hang out in during the day if you want somewhere other than your room to wait out the rain and drink tea. It's the kind of place that takes you back in time but is simultaneously youthful, inclusive and community-oriented. It's close to everything and across the street from the Riverwalk. I truly felt at home here and wished I could stay longer.

delicious breakfasts, great location, charming rooms, comfy beds, friendly and informative hosts, history up the wazoo...what more can you ask from a B & B!?! Even though we've been to Astoria a dozen times, we still had a very special time!

This was a perfect, charming, comfortable, welcoming and soothing refuge during a five-day family visit. I'd been tempted to book a corporate hotel, and I'm so glad I chose this inn. My room was spacious with water and hillside views; the bed, sheets and pillows were supremely comfortable; and the breakfasts had me swooning "OMG!" The owners were genuinely welcoming and helpful. The location is quiet yet convenient, and parking easy and free.

We drove from San Francisco to Astoria and spent the night at the Inn. It was beautiful (and Astoria is fantastic.) Emma made a fantastic breakfast and my only regret is that we did not schedule more time to hang out at the Inn itself. We'll definitely be back. Beth & Lisa

Do not hesitate to get a room here. We are experienced travellers and this is a top place. The combination of history (lots of documentation), decor (from pictures on the wall to the china at the breakfast), large room (Lady Anne), very friendly service, and great breakfasts make this place #1 in Astoria. The porch is a must for Happy Hour.

From the time we arrived and were greeted by the kind hostess Emma, we felt we had found our "home away from home", a Victorian house so well preserved, comfortable and welcoming. Emma answered all our questions, gave us a tour of the house, and our room (the Dorothy room) was perfect for our sleeping needs. We fell asleep to the sound of sea lions and slept well. The breakfast the next day included a homemade loaf of cardamon bread and a scrumptious quiche with fruit, juice and coffee. The whole experience was a joy and we will definitely be returning again and again. Astoria and the restaurant Bridge-water impressed us greatly. Astoria has one of the best organic food coops which is just 10 minutes from the Benjamin Young Inn. We stayed March 12 to 13, 2021. Kudos to Emma and Lauren.

Thank you for a wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you both stay with us. I'm glad we had the time to sit down and chat. My trips out of my front door are more meaningful when I read the quote: "Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." hanging by the door. I hope to see you again soon.

Staying at the Benjamin Young Inn was amazing. Our rooms were spacious and cozy, and the staff went above and beyond to help us plan hikes, food destinations, and other adventures! The food was incredible I can’t do it justice in a review, but I did attach a photo! 100/100 I will be visiting again and can’t wait for my next trip to beautiful Astoria, Oregon.
