The Jenks house was a wonderful value, clean/tidy rooms, well kept house, and friendly owners. Breakfast was delicious, the fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice touch. The rooms could not have been tidier or the sheets crisper. The bed was very firm and a bit squeaky so if a soft bed is a requisite for a happy stay then I would advise. Other than that everything was lovely and we were quite happy with our stay!

The hosts were friendly and helpful. The sheets on the bed were crisp and clean. The in-window air-conditioner kept the bedroom at a nice, cool temperature all night. The address was easy to find using Google maps. The wifi worked well. The area/neighborhood was okay - not super upscale. The breakfast was okay. The main areas of the house were pretty warm (in the evening).

Tom and Ila Rae were welcoming as soon as we arrived. They are a small B&B with two rooms, each with a private bath. This B&B is the original style where home owners would rent a room to travelers. The breakfasts were fantastic with a time of your choice. We chose their default time of 8:30. During our breakfast on the second morning with another couple, it became very clear that liberals are embraced here. For outside sitting, their large front porch had a broken swing sitting on the floor and the chairs needed a good cleaning so there was no chance of sitting outside during the day. The two guest rooms are located on the second floor at the front of the house which overlooks a somewhat busy road especially during the day. During the night, the amount of traffic was minimal. The inside of the house and rooms were impeccably clean. The firm bed was wonder! We were located in the Mission room. For train lovers, you’ll hear the whistle several times during the day and night.

My wife & I spent 4 nights in this very clean & beautifully maintained home, conveniently located for getting to attractions around Jacksonville (highway access just a few minutes away) as well as close to some of the more trendy neighborhoods around town (5 Points, Riverside/Avondale). These neighborhoods offer a wide variety of nearby dining & cocktail/brewpub options for visitors to Jenks House, making the B&B a very good spot from which to explore & enjoy Greater Jacksonville. There are two tight guest parking spaces accessed from Post Street by a narrow stone driveway on the west side of the house. Curbside parking along Post Street away from the nearby intersection may be a better option, especially if two sets of guests are staying or if you have a large vehicle. House access is via the front door off the covered front porch, which has outdoor seating accommodations for relaxation & conversation. The first floor of the house has the dining room, a living room with comfortable seating options, the proprietors' kitchen, and a main entry hall among them with a small guest refrigerator. The woodwork & wood floors throughout are beautiful and well preserved, and the furniture & decorations complement the interior details without overwhelming them. The 2nd floor has a very comfortable sun room extending across most of the back of the house (south facing), which is accessible to guests at all times unless the proprietors have family staying in the 3rd upstairs bedroom. Both guest rooms are on the north side of the house on the 2nd floor. Our first three nights were spent in the Mission Room guest room; we switched to the Live Oak Room for our final night. Both rooms have queen-sized beds with very firm mattresses. The Mission Room is significantly larger with more comfortable seating options for two guests and a clothing closet; the Live Oak Room has a vertical wardrobe for clothes hanging, while both rooms have drawer space for more storage of clothing & personal items. Both guest rooms have equivalent bathroom fixturing with shower/tub combo; the Mission Room bathroom is much larger than the one in the Live Oak Room, but both are adequate in size for two people & their toiletries. The Jenks House owners, Ila Rae & Tom, sat with us every morning during breakfast to share their life stories and provide suggestions for daily itineraries. Ila Rae prepared daily breakfast items to accommodate our particular dietary restrictions, with something different every day made from many local ingredients (both from their own property & from neighborhood sources). Tom provided the fresh squeezed orange juice that accompanied our daily meals, with other juice & tea & coffee options available. For the beauty of the home & the hospitality & the easy access to Jacksonville area attractions, my wife & I would recommend staying at The Jenks House.

What a lovely Arts & Crafts Praire-style house which added to the charm of this B&B... but it was the hosts, Tom and Ila Rae, who made our stay so enjoyable! My husband and I stayed two nights last week and felt very welcomed by them. We especially enjoyed the breakfasts! Part of our visit included an evening at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre which I would also highly recommend.
