When we arrived, we immediately heard another woman telling the desk staff that she was already moved from one dirty room to a new room, only to find human excrement on the toilet – and she was showing a picture on her phone. The staff member speaking to her said that the housekeeping there was very bad, but they called someone to clean it. This already was not a good sign. When it was our turn, the woman at the desk immediately made us feel that she was burdened by our presence. She was clearly sick and had her mask down under her nose. She said I did not have a reservation, even though I was showing her my Hilton Honors app showing the reservation. She looked but kept saying that we did not have a reservation. Then she finally found it but then said they did not have the room we reserved but could maybe give us a queen room instead. I paid for a king room with snacks and wanted to be given the room we paid for and told her as much. After a few more minutes, she said she did finally find the room. She didn’t tell us about parking or any other info, just handed over the keys. I had to ask to figure out where to go. We walked out, moved the car to the garage, gathered our things, and walked back to the hotel. We went to the room, only to find it already occupied by someone else. Something like this has never happened to me ever in any hotel. All I could immediately think of is how unsafe this hotel environment is and that we needed to leave immediately. Please think about how you would feel if you or a family member were in a hotel room and strangers were able to walk-in with their own key at any time. This is the type of thing that you see on the news. It is not safe and completely terrifying to think someone could have come into my room when I was in the shower, asleep, etc. Also, as we were leaving the garage, we could not go out. There was one way out, no attendant, and we had already given back the room keys at the desk. I tried to pay to just let us leave but the machine gave an error that credit cards had been disabled. I then had to call via call box and wait on hold to speak with someone to open the gate. The customer service representative couldn’t hear me well because it was a speaker phone and I had to yell my personal information at this box in the garage to get her to finally open the gate remotely for us. I did send my concerns to the management of this hotel but still have not received a response. This happened on May 27, 2021. We left the hotel immediately and stayed at the Omni instead.

We always stay here when in Jacksonville to see family. The staff is always very hospitable and do a great job. It’s a clean and quiet hotel and in a great area. Lots of restaurants nearby and even some shopping available in the San Marco area.

We just want to say a HUGE thank you for our stay. We especially want to mention the bar man Jose, who was on duty last night. We our on a road trip in the USA and needed some eggs boiled for our long journey today to Nashville. We mentioned this to Jose, who boiled the eggs for us himself!! He was even going to do it in his own home! We will always remember his kindness and generosity. To add, the room was spotless, the welcome lovely and the location great

I am passing along some comments and a big kudos for one of your staff members at the Hilton Garden Inn Jacksonville Downtown Southbank. Her name is Moenika, or Mo, as she introduced herself to me when I checked in. Even in the hospitality industry, her customer awareness and attention is exemplary and should be acknowledged and rewarded. I travel a lot and normally stay at Marriott properties. Given where I was meeting in Jacksonville, I decided to give Hilton a try. I arrived a couple of hours before check-in and there were no rooms ready at the time. I was disappointed because I had a lot of work to do and my status at Marriott would have assured me of early check-in privileges. Mo, read the disappointment on my face and let me know that she was my advocate and had me covered during my stay. She told me I would have the next available room once it was cleaned and ready. She held my luggage in the back, took my phone number, informed me of places to eat within walking distance, told me I could keep my car parked in the registration area, and offered me a couple of bottles of water. Rather than going to a restaurant, I scoped out the hotel area and slipped quietly into an out-of-the-way table on the main floor to get some work done. I don't know how she saw me from where she was, but within 30 minutes, there was Mo, She brought over my room keys, a parking pass, and another bottle of water, and asked me if there was anything else I needed. That was a pleasant surprise, but not anything extraordinary in the hospitality industry. What happened next is extraordinary. Three days later I had a UPS package shipped overnight to my name at the hotel. I needed the package for a local customer. My plan was to have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast I would inform the front-desk that I was expecting a package and ask them to call me when it arrived. There were more than 25 people in the breakfast area. Shortly after sitting down and starting to eat, I look up and there is Mo, package in hand! How she remembered my name among all the guests she checks-in every day is beyond me. But she did because my room number was not on the package. And she must have seen me come down to breakfast too. That is extraordinary customer awareness. It made me feel like I was visiting family. She knew who I was and where I was, and she was looking out for me. Bravo! Kudos! Thank you!
