We had a late-arriving flight and needed a room for the first night of our vacation. We somehow snagged the last room available. It was the disabled room and we didn’t need that aspect but we’re glad to have a clean, quiet room to stay in. This room was a little larger than the other rooms and was in good shape when we arrived. My only frustration was we were a family of four and the room had two bath towels and they didn’t have more towels to give us in the AM. We managed ok. But that was a bit of an annoyance. The Tapestry area looks to be very nice and we saw many dining options too.

I booked this hotel for a stay recently. They called me to cancel the booking just as I was about to check in. No apology, no concern for the customer. The front desk agent did not give two craps. She referred me to Booking.com and said she couldn't do anything about it. I had to drive 3(!) hours to find the nearest hotel because Hotel Indigo cancelled so close to midnight that everything near Jacksonville was unavailable. Absolutely unethical.

We drove 11 hours instead of flying, to allow more time to assist my 80 year old mother with picking out a home. This was a very happy occassion, despite the long drive. I paid for 2 rooms and multiple nights after having a horrible experience at Aloft, around the corner; after calling Indigo in search of a welcoming, friendly place to spend $1800.00, Melissa answered the phone and we were immediately welcomed with genuine kindness and warmth. I promptly canceled my other 2 rooms at Aloft where we were met coldly, impersonally by Ellen. The difference between the two lobbies in atmosphere alone was well worth the extra money and dragging ourselves to another hotel after a long drive at 9:30 in the evening. Aloft was cold, unfriendly, loud and definitely no 'hello! welcome!' from Aloft. Melissa and Dominique were OUTSTANDING, along with Indigo being a more refined, pleasant, very clean hotel with a fantastic location. My gratitude to both of them for saving us from a horrible experience and ensuring my mother is treated with kindness and respect is immense. FYI - Every single Adult are responsible for their own health. No one else. The rooms are very comfortable, fantastic shower, very large. Location is convenient to shops and restaurants and some within walkable distance.

I had always wanted to stay at a Hotel Indigo (under the IHG brand), but they never seemed to be in cities I visited. Until now. In terms of decent, upscale-ish hotels in Jacksonville, the options are slim. Check-in: During the check-in process, the alert and present female Front Desk attendant (I didn’t get her name – darn!) provided information about the hotel. She was friendly, pleasant, and was able to respond to a question about the location of a local market to obtain water and fresh food, i.e., she knew the location and travel times from the hotel (versus heading way across town my first choice, Trader Joe’s) – rare for a Front Desk person. She was great! Room: It was a 1-bedroom suite with a large living area which included a table and chairs; and a kitchen area with sink, microwave, and refrigerator. Unfortunately, no water kettle was available. The microwave would have worked for individual cups of tea, but I went to the local Target and purchased a water kettle. (And left it with a relative who lived in the area.) All the furniture in the living space and the bedroom was well worn and looked it: stains on the couch and coffee table; dated interior design with blue as the stand-out color. Not surprising since it is “Hotel Indigo.” :-) When I went to close the stained curtains, you could see rust on the hoops at the top of the curtains. The king bed was too soft for my back, so I didn’t sleep well during this 2-night visit. The layout of the working desk was good – the outlets were easily accessible. The bathroom was huge with a lot of wasted space and outdated fixtures, including the sink and a separate jetted tub. I never use tubs let alone an older, jetted tub. The shower was huge and could easily fit 3 or 4 people. Unfortunately, there was only one outdated showerhead and controls. It was obvious that the tiling needs to be replaced. The toilet was a in separate water closet (yea!) but didn’t flush very well – it was slow, and I was concerned it would become clogged, but it didn’t. I asked the female Front Desk attendant if an update was coming and she said “yes;” though, I can’t remember if the renovation had started or if it was starting soon. Service: Again, limited services during the pandemic so I rarely expect much effort anymore. I asked for additional towels and the first guy, who was less than enthusiastic, gave me a whole pile of them. When I returned to the room and started to unfold them, I realized he gave me 5 bathmats, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, and no washcloths. I returned to the Front Desk, pointed out what I received, he repeated he gave me some towels, I responded, again, that it was mostly bathmats. I tabled the conversation and left with the hope that by the time I returned, the female would be back at the Front Desk and that’s what happened. She provided the extra towels. I had breakfast on the first morning in their restaurant/bar. It’s an open space and right next to and in perfect view of the Front Desk. When I appeared, no one was around; not at the Front Desk or the bar. I waited and waited. Finally, a different male Front Desk person appears and tells me someone from the bar should be around/available. Note that he never tried to call or find anyone. I wait, again, then someone (another man) showed up at the bar but told me someone else (a female) would be able to help me. That female arrives a few minutes later. I wonder what would have happened if they had more than one person waiting? The food was passable (eggs, meat, toast); nothing spectacular. Service by the female during the breakfast process was fine. Other: Some reviewers have commented that the area where the hotel is located was “dead” for entertainment. That may or may not be true, but based on the location, you’ll need transportation because there isn’t much around the hotel. I had a rental car, so I was fine. The hotel is situated on a (man-made?) lake, which worked for me. I enjoyed a nice, casual walk around the lake. Though, my personal wish is that people should refrain from smoking in open spaces. :-) I stayed here in Feb 2021 and my memory is fuzzy. I don’t remember if daily housekeeping was available. I stayed 2 nights, but I recall my waste bins were full and I was using brown paper bags for the overflow. I think, but not sure, as part of the pandemic, breakfast was available every day, but dinner available only on Fridays and Saturdays. This was probably a nice hotel when it opened 10 or 11 years ago, but it’s time for an update/renovation. Would I return? Likely, but only after the renovation; and avoid any guy working the Front Desk. (Men are often disappointing as customer-facing employees.) The Hotel Indigo is a much better option, however, than the currently closed Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Waterfront hotel.

Beautiful three-star dog-friendly boutique hotel by the lake with ample parking. Nice location with plenty of restaurants nearby. Room design is impressive and clean. Friendly reception desk staff. If you like taking walks, there’s a path by the lake you can use. Because of the pandemic, outdoor patio service was not available. Also, breakfast was temporarily unavailable. There are condominium buildings near the hotel, and you see people walking their dogs in the open space in front of the hotel.
