Can't beat the 1863 Inn for location; right at the base of Cemetery Hill or "top of the fish hook".....Across he street; restaurants, and venders for blocks. Information on where to go? Just ask any of the professionals at the desk in one of the more comfortable lobbies anywhere. They can guide you to whatever event you're considering. The morning breakfasts are superior in quantity, quality and diversity at YOUR choosing. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. YOU control the temperature.......There's a fridg, flat screen TV, shower, ample room to store clothing; and all this is the standard at the 1863 INN, I've been attending the INN since the 90's and would never consider anywhere else in Gettysburg.

Hotel's Favorite
I've recently stayed at much fancier "name" hotels that did not offer me half as great an experience as I had at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. I showed up at the last minute after Travelocity messed up my reservations at another place and the 1863 Inn was able to accommodate me, and with a huge room with a king bed and a jacuzzi tub for a very modest price. (Room 383 in their recently renovated annex.) Here we also had a refrigerator, microwave, TWO sinks and a great air conditioner. And they have a pool and free lot parking. The free breakfast was amazing. This isn't just rolls and coffee. There is a buffet with just about every kind of breakfast food available . . . eggs, sausages, waffles, biscuits, muffins, cereal, etc. All delicious. The desk and housekeeping staff were some of the nicest folk I've encountered in hotels. The location can't be beat. It is walking distance to the National Cemetery, Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours, the Jennie Wade House (next door), the Shriver House, various Ghost Tours and lots of shops and restaurants. And there's a convenience store/gas station across the street. It's a short drive just about anywhere else. The 1863 Inn at Gettysburg is not a chain hotel, but independently owned and operated. Some of the staff have been there for many years and obviously take pride in running a friendly, clean, helpful establishment. I'm so glad my reservations at the other place fell through. My husband and I had a wonderful time here and would happily come again.

We are so happy to hear that we were able to help turn a very unpleasant experience into a positive one! Our staff takes pride in this hotel and we do our best to make our guests feel welcome. Most of our employees have been at this hotel for many years-average of about 15 to 20 years. Then you have the old timers, such as myself-going on 40 years and loving it! We are glad that you enjoyed your time with us. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We appreciate it! Please come back to see us again. It would be our pleasure! Sincerely, Norma Herring General Manager

When visiting Gettysburg, we always stay at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. We had no concerns staying here during the current pandemic, as this hotel is always one of the cleanest that we have stayed in. Check-in was nice and easy, and our room was perfect, as usual. One of the main reasons we continue to stay here is that we never have to contact the front desk regarding our stay. Breakfast was a little different this time, but all of the food items were available. The hotel staff handled the request for hot food items (sausage, waffles, scrambled eggs) and was just great. We really appreciated that they still kept these breakfast options. Another reason that we stay here is the hotel location. We were able to leave our car at the hotel and visit gift shops and restaurants in the area. This is very convenient, as you do not have to worry about finding parking on a busy weekend. We even were able to walk to the National Cemetery to attend the 100 Nights of Taps ceremony. I cannot thank everyone working at this hotel for making our stay very enjoyable. The last thing that anyone wants on vacation is to have problems with their stay, and this is something that we never have to worry about. We look forward to our next visit.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are glad that you enjoy your time with us. We are very passionate when it comes to cleanliness. Our staff works very hard to make sure that each room is sanitized and ready for the next guest. We have had to make some adjustments as far as the way we serve the free breakfast and we do it in a way that is safe and clean and we still offer the hot and cold items. These are very trying times for everyone. We are committed to the safety and comfort of all of our visitors. We will continue to provide the service that you deserve. Thank you for your loyalty. We look forward to your next visit. Stay safe! Sincerely, Norma Herring General Manager

We stayed for one night on our way from MI to Washington DC and Outer Banks. Great location within walking distance of restaurants and historical attractions. Our room was clean and nicely updated with mini fridge and comfortable beds. Very reasonably priced. Morning breakfast was excellent with lots of choices and good service. Only down sides were when checking in the desk clerk looked like she did not want to be there, no friendly welcome, and not sure she ever even actually made eye contact with me. That being said she was efficient and check in process was quick. Also every time going to or from our room via the outside staircase we had to pass all the smokers hanging out. Other than that we enjoyed our night here...

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit. First let us apologize for the clerk that checked you in. We want every guest to feel welcome. We will certainly address the issue with her. Again, we apologize. We are glad that you found your room to be clean and comfortable and the breakfast enjoyable. Our smoking areas are located at at the end of the building on each floor. We have kept those areas as far from the rooms as possible. There is elevator access to each floor. If you would happen to visit us in the future you can avoid those areas by using the elevators or the inside stairwells. We do hope that you will come back to see us again. It would be our pleasure. Thank you, Norma Herring General Manager

Excellent facility. Perfect location in the heart of Gettysburg. Easy access to plenty of parking in the hotel lot. The room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. Great coffee and maker in room. Fairly large refrigerator in room too. The bathroom was gorgeous (and appeared to have been recently updated). The room and bathroom were both very clean and tidy. Great value!!! I had to double check my receipt because I couldn’t believe how nice it was for the reasonable price. And, friendly efficient Check-In process.
