Between the amazing staff, the delicious breakfast, and the best location, I can't fathom to choose another place to stay in Gettysburg. They keep remodeling their rooms and they keep becoming more and more perfect and up to date! The bathroom and shower are heavenly! New sink and soap dispenser in the showers! WHAT!? It's the best!

We had a good experience. Easy check-in. I made the reservation by phone (same price as thru the website). The big draws of this hotel were the location and the pool. The pool was well-kept & had steps the full width, which is a nice place to hang out when you have small kids that can barely touch in 3ft. The room was clean, comfy & recently remodeled (shower only-no tub). Breakfast was very nice including eggs, pancakes, and fresh fruit.
The staff, especially housekeeping were very helpful and intuitive. Two different staff took notice of our swimsuits & 1. made sure we went to the right floor for the pool, and 2. let us know we were headed there too early before it opened.
It is within walking distance of many tourist draws, including the Jennie Wade house, Dobbin house, Farnsworth house, ghost tours, and cemetery. Of course, there are rumors that this hotel is haunted, but we did not experience anything paranormal.

My bride and I had a lovely stay over Labor Day weekend. We arrived a bit earlier than anticipated and the staff did let us check in a little early. Our room was what we expected and the whirlpool tub was very enjoyable after a day of walking around town.
The staff was helpful and friendly. They made breakfast in the morning very enjoyable under these unique circumstances.
I will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

When visiting Gettysburg, we always stay at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. We had no concerns staying here during the current pandemic, as this hotel is always one of the cleanest that we have stayed in. Check-in was nice and easy, and our room was perfect, as usual. One of the main reasons we continue to stay here is that we never have to contact the front desk regarding our stay. Breakfast was a little different this time, but all of the food items were available. The hotel staff handled the request for hot food items (sausage, waffles, scrambled eggs) and was just great. We really appreciated that they still kept these breakfast options. Another reason that we stay here is the hotel location. We were able to leave our car at the hotel and visit gift shops and restaurants in the area. This is very convenient, as you do not have to worry about finding parking on a busy weekend. We even were able to walk to the National Cemetery to attend the 100 Nights of Taps ceremony. I cannot thank everyone working at this hotel for making our stay very enjoyable. The last thing that anyone wants on vacation is to have problems with their stay, and this is something that we never have to worry about. We look forward to our next visit.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are glad that you enjoy your time with us. We are very passionate when it comes to cleanliness. Our staff works very hard to make sure that each room is sanitized and ready for the next guest. We have had to make some adjustments as far as the way we serve the free breakfast and we do it in a way that is safe and clean and we still offer the hot and cold items. These are very trying times for everyone. We are committed to the safety and comfort of all of our visitors. We will continue to provide the service that you deserve. Thank you for your loyalty. We look forward to your next visit. Stay safe! Sincerely, Norma Herring General Manager

This hotel excels in keeping things clean. No carpet in our room, no extra frivolous bedding, just comfy sheets and a light blanket. The room was sparkling clean, as was every area we visited. The free breakfast is well-planned, with serve-yourself wrapped goods and hot dishes you request and are brought out. Yeah, it's not gourmet, but lots of choices, including guacamole & salsa for the eggs, cottage cheese, good multi-grain bread, etc. I would definitely stay there again.

My family of 3 chose the 1863 Inn to stay at based on other glowing reviews and the location - it was within walking distance of to the Evergreen Cemetery, the battlefield, our selected ghost tour, and other historic locations within the town, such as the Jennie Wade House and the Dobbin House Tavern. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. The room itself (we chose the 2 queen beds) was very clean and neat. We are a family that uses a lot of towels, and the staff said all we had to do was ask for more, but the room provided so many towels that during our three day, two night stay we did not require any more. Everywhere we went in the hotel you would see staff cleaning and straightening up and the whole hotel was clean and neat and well taken care of, and everybody would greet us politely. The included breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful and saved us time each morning. I am most definitely staying here when I come back to visit Gettysburg! I even joined the loyalty program. Thank you for a lovely stay, The I863 Inn of Gettysburg!

I’m a long time Gettysburg-goer (18 years) and the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg is my lodging of choice every time. I was just there for a 4-day stay just after Christmas. I keep going back because the service is outstanding because of the people. All are always so nice and really know how to treat people.

The rooms have been updated, which is nice, and are always clean. I like that I can control the room temperature. There are extra blankets in the room should they be needed.

The rates are competitive and the location can’t be beat because you are within walking distance to just about everything. The complimentary breakfast has so many choices. I especially like the little round egg patties and round bacon bunch that are especially made for putting on bagels or English muffins! You can make your own waffles, have scrambled eggs, sausage patties, muffins, potatoes, toast, bagels, cereal, juices, coffee! It is a breakfast that has outshined other major chains at which I have stayed when traveling.

If you are planning on a visit, check out the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg.

Room was on the busy ‘road’ side and could hear some traffic, so get the back if you want more quiet.

Lots of TV channels, but no HBO or premium movies. The location is perfect in the middle of the town and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Excellent fridge/freezer that worked well. Toiletries were a little pack of shampoo, body cream. Breakfast is 6:30-10:00 with lots of yogurt, cereals muffins, apples, bananas, and hot foods of eggs, potatoes. They are very friendly and have lots of information brochures in the entry if you are looking for things to do.

We stayed here for 1 night after an impromptu trip to Gettysburg. The town is smaller than expected for such a highly visited area. It was easily walkable and we were able to go in and out of shops and restaurants. Not everything was open yet. The hotel is right in the middle of town, so the location is excellent. We booked with them only a few hours before deciding to stay the night (we often have an overnight bag in the car, ready for whatever!) for a reasonable rate; 69.00 (on line price was only a few bucks less). The hotel was very clean and staff was exceptionally friendly, esp cleaning, maintenance and breakfast room! We were on the 5th floor; all rooms have an outside entrance. I'd say the hotel is older, but is somewhat refurbished and is very clean. The room had everything you could need. The beds were comfy and it was relatively quiet. I did not like the toiletries; little upgrade there is needed. The Wifi lagged at times. Easy parking. The biggest surprise was breakfast. There were some lovely ladies in the breakfast room who would cook you several items from a menu: egg and sausage, waffles, scrambled eggs etc. There was also a serve yourself area with breads, yogurts, muffins, cold cereal, juice etc. We've traveled a bit in Covid and all we've ever gotten in a piece of fruit, muffin and bottle of water in a bag. I'd say these guys are the exception; not the rule. Overall, great location, very clean, comfortable and adequate for several days, very kind and exceptional breakfast in the current climate.

We are glad that you found your room to be clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. I believe that those factors are the most important to our guests. We have had to be very creative during these uncertain times when it comes to serving our breakfast. We have found a way to provide a hearty and plentiful breakfast in a very safe manner while abiding by the mandates set forth by the state. Certainly better than a brown bag. We hope that you will come back to see us again. It would be our pleasure. Thank you for taking the time to post a review for us. We appreciate it. Sincerely, Norma Herring General Manager

First time I stayed in Gettysburg overnight - came with family and based on reviews we stayed at the 1863 Inn. Large hotel, great location, within area that included history, shopping and restaurants. Room was large with two queen beds. Room could use updates but it was clean. Our room overlooked the main highway, you could hear the traffic and especially the trucks braking which was a distraction for sleeping. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room and was sufficient - you won't go hungry.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. We are glad that you were pleased with your room and the free breakfast that we offer. The floor you were on was actually just renovated 2 years ago. We were very pleased with the final product and we have received many compliments on those rooms. We are located on the main street so in the future you may want to request a room in the back of the building. It is a bit more quiet in that area. Again, thank you for the review. There are rooms that face the back of the Inn overlooking the pool. They’ll be quieter than the rooms that face the street. Also, the Inn added an annex a couple of years ago. It’s in a small structure right next to the Inn. We stayed there once and it was very quiet. Enjoy!
