I had a fantastic weekend staying here. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable and plenty spacious. The complimentary breakfast is top notch and has more options than any other hotel I’ve stayed at. You can’t beat this location, especially if you’re a history buff. It’s adjacent to east cemetery hill, so it’s only a short walk to many of the battlefield sights and is also within waking distance to the center of the town. Their hotel shirts are pretty awesome too! Next time I head to Gettysburg, I’ll be looking to book a room here again!

Hotel's Favorite
Between the amazing staff, the delicious breakfast, and the best location, I can't fathom to choose another place to stay in Gettysburg. They keep remodeling their rooms and they keep becoming more and more perfect and up to date! The bathroom and shower are heavenly! New sink and soap dispenser in the showers! WHAT!? It's the best!

We picked this hotel based on reviews and were pleased. The location is very good, within walking distance of everything. Rooms were comfortable and quiet and clean. As noted in most reviews, the "continental" breakfast is really far beyond "continental" - I don't think I have ever seen a breakfast that included (get ready): hot and cold cereals, French toast, biscuits, English muffins, toast, croissants, muffins, bananas, mandarins, yogurts, make-your-own-waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, egg patties (to make sandwiches I presume), chipped beef, potatoes, pineapple, guacamole, salsa, cottage cheese, and of course, juices, tea, coffee, hot cocoa and chocolate milk. The inn is pet friendly ($25 fee). Our only issue was that it's quite a trip from the parking lot to the room - or the room to the parking lot - ( and they are renovating the first two floors right now) with the pet (early early morn) and for my husband, who has Parkinson's. Make sure you grab a baggage cart before you load or unload - makes a big difference. This property evidently has an army of loyal customers...and for the price, especially, it's highly recommended.…

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are glad that your room was clean and comfortable and that you enjoyed the breakfast. We do have one of the best Free breakfast around for our guests. We do apologize about the placement of your room. We take a floor each Winter and renovate. This year it was our second floor which is actually our ground level in the back of the building. We do have elevators on each floor and would have been happy to have one of our staff assist you with your bags. We have even been known to help take pets out if needed. We do love our furry friends here. If you return and we hope that you will, please do not hesitate to ask for help if you need it. The best place to stay in Gettysburg. The staff from the front desk to those who clean the rooms are the most professional and helpful people in the industry. That is just one of the reasons we choose to stay there every time we come to town. The rooms are always clean with a cheery welcoming package. We do quite a bit of traveling and their morning breakfast can't be rivaled. It is conveniently located as to allow you to walk to any part of the park or restaurants you wish to visit. I highly recommend the 1863 Inn to all my friends.

I know it's off season, but they were really off their game. We had trash under the desk and dried urine on the toilet bowl. So whatever cursory cleaning was done was not enough and makes you wonder what else wasn't cleaned. Mattresses uncomfortable. Breakfast had lots of options, but warmers weren't keeping things warm enough. Not enough parking so if you check in late or take your car out and come back late, you dont have a spot. Desk staff friendly. That's about all I can compliment.

I do wish you would have brought your concerns to our attention while you were on property. We would have been happy to take care of any issues you may have had. Our housekeeping staff is wonderful, however, they are not perfect and don't claim to be. We have had a very busy month and they do their best to make sure that each room is clean and comfortable. There are times when they do miss things and we apologize for that. But, again, we would have been happy to take care of it if you would have informed the front desk. As for the comfort of the mattresses, we understand that not everyone is going to be happy with the firmness or lack thereof. It is very hard to please folks when it comes to personal preference in bedding. The parking situation is a mystery. The tour center allows us to use their huge parking lot which is right next door to the hotel. Always plenty of parking available. If your breakfast food was not at a temperature to your liking we have microwaves available for our guests use. I do hope you were happy with the breakfast as a whole. So many choices! One of the best FREE breakfasts around! Again we apologize for any cleanliness issues you may have encountered. I assure you that our cleaning staff has been notified. For future reference, please give the hotel-any hotel-a chance to correct any issues you may have before you leave the property. That would be the fair thing to do. Norma Herring General Manager

Big and beautiful looking Inn. Good location with many things within walking distance. Unfortunately it is a bit out dated. The maid seems to only come at request and if you need fresh towels you have to get them from the front desk. For a romantic birthday weekend it did not meet expectations. The staff were friendly and the manager said she was going to report the issue to the maid staff. 🙄🙄🙄

Older hotel but very clean. Friendly staff, free parking and breakfast included. We enjoyed our stay in this quaint hotel and would definitely recommend it, especially for the low price (free I used my points on my Visa). Close to town..could walk instead of driving

My family and I just stayed here for New Year's Eve weekend, and had a wonderful time! The hotel is extremely clean, the location is awesome, our room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable about the local area and all that Gettysburg has to offer. We had a pet-friendly room and our dog had a great time too! The free continental breakfast was a treat, with a large variety of choices for breakfast. If I had to come up with something negative, I guess it would be that our room didn't have a microwave, but that was not a big deal for us and we signed up for the Loyalty Program so we can come back and do more exploring of Gettysburg.

This hotel came recommended to me as having friendly staff and reasonable rates and also having clean rooms. I was not disappointed. The rates were very reasonable, the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was very warming and inviting. They have free breakfast with a very good and large selection. I was overall very pleased with the whole experience of staying here. This hotel is in a very good location with a lot of attractions surrounding it. A lot of the attractions that we wanted to go to were within walking distance and it was very convenient.
