stayed in a king jacuzzi room on the 6th floor. Room was fairly clean... a few stains on the top sheet of the bed. Worst part was the jacuzzi and shower itself. Shower head leaked like there was no tomorrow, barely any pressure and looked very caked from hard water build up. Jets in the tub had stains on them as well. First night, there was only luke warm water available. Asked the front desk about it only to receive a puzzled look from the person working. We weren't in the room much so we didn't make much of a fuss about it. Room overall could've been cleaner, but was acceptable. Thermostat in the room seemed locked to a certain temperature range as well. I'll just take my money elsewhere next time.
The Gettysburg hotel is just “meh.” It’s in a great location being at the end of the Main Street and along the circle, though the hotel itself is mediocre. Being a huge US history buff, the historical aspect of the hotel and the fact we were in Gettysburg definitely added a few points in my book, though if this hotel were in another city and had no history associated with it, I would not recommend it and would probably think it was a budget hotel. That said, the concierge was very friendly and helpful. (5/2018)
I booked a King Jr. Suite for two nights and based on the reviews and the pics I was expecting something roomy and clean. We arrived after dark which didn't help because they use those twisty fluorescent bulbs which are dim at first and get brighter as they warm up. It was like a scene from the movie "Saw". But once they warmed up we could really see how dirty the place was. There were huge stains on the dark brown carpet, yep the dark brown carpet which should hide stains. Not just old and dark but there were hair balls on the carpet in the bedroom, hair in shower and bathroom. Basically you were afraid to touch anything. Anyway, we asked for another room and the staff was very courteous and let us choose from two other rooms which were a little cleaner but still just like anything you see in the pics. The staff also looked at the original room and said they would have to do a "deep cleaning" in that room. You would think "deep cleaning" would be the standard. And yes, the new room also had hair and dirt in the shower, on the robe hook, and on the floor. And the rooms didn't look any better in the daylight. Maybe my expectations were set too high to begin with. I thought I was choosing the best hotel in Gettysburg. Don't be fooled by the more than 800 reviews with 4.4 stars. I've stayed in old hotels like this before but NEVER one this dirty and neglected. The price was about $165 per night which isn't bad at all but it definitely some for some TLC in those rooms. One more thing, the two room suite is really the size of a regular one room with more walls and doors. I say "Mr Gorbachev, tear down these walls!". …
Spent 4 great nights at the Gettysburg Hotel. Room was very clean and updated and comfortable. Location could not be any better. Food in restaurant good. Nice little bar with decent Happy Hour. Only problem was Housekeeping doing your room. Had to track someone down ourselves to see that room was restocked with fresh towels and make bed. Would return.
I attended a family bridal shower at the Gettysburg Hotel and the food was very good! The venue was beautiful and the choice of Mimosas, coffee, tea, iced tea, or lemonade were all perfect for the shower. The meal choices were great, which include lump crab cake and roasted turkey breast. The veggies with the crab cake were delicious! I have only ever been to this venue prior to March 2020, for a wedding reception but I highly recommend this facility for events such as showers and weddings!
