This historic hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are spacious and clean with crazy high ceilings. The location is great for walking to Gettysburg's many restaurants and shops. What really stands out is the staff. We used a booking site who made a mistake describing room types. The hotel staff apologized and made everything right (even though it wasn't their mistake). They take the time to actually walk you to your room and seem to genuinely care about customers comfort. There is also a pub on site which is a bonus. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Gettysburg.

By far, the nicest place we have stayed…pictures can’t depict the beauty of the Inn or the rooms or decor. It is spotless, very comfortable, and every staff member was so pleasant, helpful, and always had a smile and a hello. We requested a first floor suite, and it was honored, and very little traffic noise. Fresh coffee/tea available in the morning, keurig all day. Local paper left outside your room each morning
The Pub downstairs is so nice, and there is now The Federal Point Grill across their parking lot that serves breakfast and lunch, which was so good, and very reasonable in price. It is 4 short blocks from the circle, many restaurants, shops, but not within walking distance to the battleground, but it’s less than a ten minute drive.
There is so much to see and do, we didn’t get it all in in two days. I would not hesitate to recommend the Inn to anyone and give it a 5+++++

This property is a very pleasant surprise and only a couple of blocks walk to the town center and a whole host of dining and shopping options. We booked this hotel because the one where we normally stay was fully booked. Boy, are we glad it was.

This hotel is unique and not something you would find just anywhere in the country. Elements of the original school house are tucked away in different places in the building. The outdoor seating for the bar is available, with outdoor heaters available if needed. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The bartender, Michelle, is amazing. We love the touch of home with the old book collections in the rooms. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower. Though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, we could not hear noise from the adjacent rooms.

We enjoyed our stay at the Federal Pointe Inn. It is located just few blocks from the main traffic circle in the town of Gettysburg, and close by car to the Visitor's Center for the Gettysburg Battlefields. The Inn originally was the school house erected in 1896. For 90 years it was the school, then a day care and 10 years ago it was lovingly converted to the Inn. They have taken great care to retain the character of the building. Our large bedroom also has a sitting area which was the entry to the school. The doors have been converted to windows and the original block archway has been retained. A bonus sitting area for us. (Room 205) In the Lobby, they offer scones and tea from 3-4 and coffee in the morning. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. They arranged for us to have a private tour of the Battlefield by a licensed guide who was a historian extraordinaire!
Just as in the photos from the early 1900’s, the site is at the convergence of two busy streets leading into Gettysburg during the day. The traffic quiets down at night, but starts up again about 6:00 AM. They have a carriage house with 5 rooms across the parking area that may be quieter.
There is a Tavern/restaurant in the lower level, but at the time of our stay was only open Thursday through Sunday...we just missed it!

My wife and 2 adult daughters stayed for 3 days while visiting family in the area. We had a 2 bedroom suite which is in the adjacent building with parking right outside the door. The buildings are old, and while they have been painstakingly restored, don’t expect ultramodern conveniences. One bedroom is also the sitting room and it is separated from the other bedroom by a pocket door. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom/sitting area so the occupants of the other bedroom must go through the bedroom/sitting area to get to the bathroom. That presented no problem for us and we thought the room was delightful. The hotel is also within walking distance, or a very short drive, to restaurants and bars. Staff were invariably helpful. We will certainly stay here again on our next visit.

Beware they may overbook! We booked a king whirlpool suite a month prior to our stay directly through the choice hotel website. After driving for 2 hours, we arrived at the hotel at 4:30. Upon arrival we were told that “due to a glitch in the system” they overbooked and the only room they had was a queen room in an off site building. We decided that was not what we wanted and left. Thirty minutes later, after we booked at another hotel they called and said actually we do have the room for you it was just a problem with the computer. By that point we had booked elsewhere. The whole thing was weird. I’m not sure what the actual issue was, we stayed there in the past and it was wonderful. But after this I doubt I will stay again or even stay at choice hotels again.

Great check in experience and guest service. Hotel is old but so is most of gettysburg. Room was very clean comfy bed, on first floor main building. Bathroom was the newest with standup granite shower and above average bath products. I extensively researched hotels in the area and I truly believe this to be the best one for the price.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Service was exceptional in every way. Our rooms were wonderful. History was maintained all around us ... from the rooms to the hallways and pub area. Staff was courteous, friendly and most helpful. Teas, fruited water and afternoon scones were available outside of the office. We had a lovely dinner from the Pub delivered to our room. We sat outside at the tables and comfortable chairs enjoying drinks while playing cards. Such a wonderful way to spend time together. We walked downtown ( an easy walk) several times. We had breakfast next door at Dunlaps( family owned)breakfast at the Ragged Edge ( excellent/a must), dinner at Dobbins House( good/a bit pricey). A wonderful stay in Gettysburg! Thank you.

I only visited Gettysburg for two days, staying here one night, and had a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, offering suggestions for area restaurants and tips on where to go while in town. The hotel was clean, classy, and the perfect spot to stay. The blend of the historic building and decor with modern amenities was done very well. When I return to Gettysburg I will be staying here again.

I don't know. I can see where lots of places in Gettysburg could be haunted since such tragedies happened there. But I didn't see or hear any ghosts in our room. lol
