This is a unique B&B that is perfect for the Gettysburg area. Steve Wolfe has owned this property for over 45 years and is totally involved in the operation with the support of Peggy, Cassandra and others! We usually go to smaller B&Bs but Steve and Peggy are as friendly as smaller operators!
It’s very well cared for and looks very good for an actively used truly historical facility. Our room was perfect with a small deck. The bedroom area is perfectly separated from the bath, toilet and sink area by double doors.
Breakfast was good and hearty with friendly service by Peggy, who like Steve is a long local. She willingly accommodated our special requests.
Overall we couldn’t have been happier!

It’s been a month since our visit to the Inn and we can’t get our stay out of our minds. When we arrived early for a long anniversary weekend stay and we didn’t expect to surprise Steve (the owner) who was in the middle of setting up our room with an amazing anniversary surprise. He graciously stalled us well and from that moment on we knew we were in for a treat. Our accommodations were booked with Cassandra over the phone and I briefly mentioned it was our anniversary. We didn’t expect the effort and care given to make it an unforgettable weekend, but we were wrong. The Inn is a spacious historic building that can be found mentioned in many Civil War Gettysburg history books. Over the years Steve has expanded the properties footprint to include more private rooms and houses giving amazing options for guests to choose from. We choose room 14. This room is generally set aside for handicapped accessible guest requirements but being late in the season it was all ours. We loved it. Out of the way, huge jacuzzi tub, it was perfect for us. As veteran B&B guests of many years we often look for the rare gems in lodgings, we found it there. Each morning we were greeted by Peggy who served our breakfast. Peggy is the kind of person that will make you feel at home right away. She’s an asset to the Inn in many ways and it was a true pleasure to get to know her. In fact everyone we encountered during our stay at the Inn was kind and hospitable. Genuine hospitality is hard to find these days and whether it was Cassandra, Steve, Peggy, Joy, Joe, or anyone else we encountered there they made us feel like friends. That’s a lot more than a bed or a breakfast, that’s irreplaceable. We’ve always traveled with the principle that your stay at a B&B is what you make it, but here that’s easily done. We can’t thank you enough for our stay at the Inn at Herr’s Ridge. Your overwhelming hospitality is greatly appreciated and we truly hope to see you again.

Extended family (11 of us) planned a long weekend in Gettysburg and decided to book our stay at the Inn at Herr Ridge. We booked all 5 rooms (14-18) in the Anna Herr house and several rooms in the original building. We couldn't have made a better choice. Rooms were spacious and well kept. Jacuzzi tubs were such a nice touch! A few of us arrived a few days early and got massages in the massage room on site. So relaxing! And, when the rest of the family arrived mid week, the lnn staff made sure the house and rooms were well stocked, and even left a tray of home baked cookies on the dining room table. Over the top kindness and service during our entire stay, including at breakfast. We had our own room in the main building where we were served breakfast every day. The Innkeeper, Diane, and one of the Inn staffers, Jess, remembered everyone's drink choices and even made one of our younger crew her favorite yummy bacon every day. And, having a restaurant on site that served lunch and dinner with good food was so convenient for everyone. Take out was great and dining inside was a nice option too. The staff even set us up for a nice birthday party in the back room of the restaurant for our young niece, and she loved it. She still talks about her new friends, Diane and Jess. The Inn is just a few minutes from downtown Gettysburg and the battlefield, so easy to see sites and shop. We would head back to the house for a night of games, snacks and cocktails each night. Really made a lot of nice memories.
Thanks to Diane, Jess, and everyone else for making our stay so fabulous! Cannot wait to do it again!

The Inn at Herr Ridge just outside of Gettysburg, PA lies right on U.S. 30 just west of town. Our room was good size with a large bathroom and some extra amenities (fireplace and Jacuzzi). Undoubtedly the best part of the stay involved a full breakfast (included) both mornings in the main building prepared and served by the owner. Of the two meals we really enjoyed the one consisting of fresh fruit (grapes, melon, strawberries, etc.), scrambled eggs and ham, and a wonderful Belgian waffle topped with blueberries and whipped cream with maple syrup on the side! If we return to Gettysburg, we will certainly try to stay at the Inn again! Will definitely return if in the area!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at The Inn at Herr’s Ridge on Memorial Day weekend. It is a charming place that was built in 1815. We were greeted by the delightful owner, Steve, who showed us to our room. We chose room 16 which is in an adjacent, more modern building. There is a lovely common area consisting of a small kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Our room was quite spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was a nice bonus! Our children surprised us with a bottle of wine and charcuterie board which we enjoyed on our private deck overlooking the woods towards the battlefield. Some friendly ghosts harmlessly moved around an empty water bottle on our table much to our surprise! I really wanted to give the inn 5 stars but it was disappointing that the fine dining restaurant and bar area in the main building was not open yet. We really looked forward to trying it out. The more casual restaurant and bar was open next door. We did not sample any meals there but did enjoy a drink or two. Willy cooked a delicious breakfast for guests each day, his waffles were amazing! We will definitely return to the inn in the future and recommend it to everyone.

Lovely bed and breakfast. Cozy rooms and relaxed atmosphere. Close to the battlefield and a 5min drive to town. Stacy who helped us with lunch in the restaurant was very attentive and had great reccomendations for the area. I didnt initially think the food would be amazing but to my surprise it was excellent. Chef is a sweetheart as well. Highly reccomend staying at this bed and breakfast.

Our visit to the Gettysburg was the perfect relaxing getaway and we are thrilled with our accommodations at the Inn. The room was perfect! It was clean, spacious, convenient access and we loved the outdoor seating on the deck with a peaceful and quiet view(Room 15). The breakfasts and service were wonderful. Can't find one thing I would have expected to be better. We will definitely recommend to others and if and when we return we would likely stay again.

Steve Wolf and the staff at the Inn at Herr’s Ridge could not have been more accommodating. We loved spending three nights at this historic property while touring the Gettysburg Battlefield. The Inn is authentic, used for a few days as a hospital by the Confederate Army during the Battle. It’s located high on a ridge overlooking fields and mountains. As you drive towards the battlefield on Route 30, you can visualize the Confederate troops moving into place. And the monuments along the way, especially the statue of General Reynolds, killed in action on the first day of the battle, are stunning. We loved entering Gettysburg from this direction and were glad that we didn’t stay in town.
The photos on this listing are misleading. The Inn used to be a larger fine dining venue but has reduced services since COVID. There is no fine dining at this writing, October 2023. However, the Livery Bar & Grill is next door with good bar food and very convenient after a day of touring. We were really glad not to have to drive back into town and deal with Gettysburg parking. The rooms are spacious and clean with antique furnishings. Floors are creaky, lighting is subdued, and the WiFi is not great in some rooms. This is an HISTORIC INN, not a modern hotel. But we loved living the history, and found the experience delightful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, too! Thanks again to Steve and his staff for a great stay!

The Inn at Herr Ridge is steeped in history. We stayed there as a launching point to tour the battleground as well as some of the nearby towns. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was served in the onsite restaurant. During our stay, we really enjoyed sitting on the rooftop deck in the evening and the meal we had at The Livery restaurant. We were looking forward to a nice date night dinner. I made a reservation and we arrived early. The menus were "well worn" would recommend just printing new menus.
We ordered an appetizer: Potatoes skins. They lacked flavor.
We placed our dinner order: I had the bacon wrapped meat loaf. I found it tasty and flavorful.
My partner ordered the Pecan Smoked Ribs. They were inedible. The first order of ribs was thin and so tuff that she could not cut them. The server offered to take them back sent them back. The second is order was not much better. The second serving was tuff and lacking taste (except for heavy smoke). The second order was also difficult to cut. The meat did not come off the bone easily. They seemed over done. Most people would expect the ribs to fall off the bone. Not in this case. Our server did not come back and check on the second serving of ribs. I am surprised the kitchen sent these out as ribs.
The server neglected to check on our meal after the second serving of ribs. I had to go to the bar and settle the bill because the server did not come back.
We were very disappointed because the restaurant came highly recommended.
Needless to say dinner was not acceptable.
