My wife and I spent our first wedding anniversary at the farmhouse and we couldn't be happier. This was our first time at a bed and breakfast. The Hoover's are amazing people and showed us great hospitality as if we were part of the family. The farmhouse is full of history and character. We will return and recommend.

Good welcome, nice room, cookies and coffee available all day. Hot and cold breakfasts were adeqate, A historic property built just before the battle of Gettysburg so plenty of interest in the house and surrounding area and the Innkeepers were very helpful in explaining it all.

My husband and I stayed at the Lightner farmhouse for 2 nights and it was wonderful. We stayed on the 3rd floor which was two rooms. The place was so clean and so well decorated. I loved the floors and the original wooden beams. Even though it is a very old house, the updated things such as air conditioning fit...

We are so glad you appreciated our quiet, outside of town location. It is exactly why we choose the property 12 years ago. The Pine Tree Suite is the room I jokingly call the Penthouse Suite because it sits at the top of the house and I agree it is quiet and cozy. Please come again when you can!

Eileen, Jason and Dennis were great. The breakfast was homemade and delish. Our room is old (expected from an inn that old) but the amenities were excellent and the rooms are clean and quaint. All the attractions are nearby and everyone is super nice and lovely.

If you are looking for a great Gettysburg experience stay at The Lightner Farmhouse. Dennis and Eileen are warm and friendly, generous with their knowledge of history and welcoming in the use of the Farmhouse and their property. Jay, their son, prepared two delicious breakfasts, he's attentive to details and a great inn keeper. The room was delightful, comfortable and...

We booked here for one evening after spending a day on at Gettysburg on the battlefields. It was lovely, our room had its own exit onto the veranda, we spent the evening sitting in rocking-chairs just reading and chilling. Having eaten at lunchtime didn't even feel the need to go out having had one of the lovely complementary coffee and...

We arrived at the Lightner Farmhouse on 9/3/16 and found that pictures do not do this gorgeous property justice. My husband, daughtern and I were promptly greeted and welcomed by Eileen and Dennis, who were so friendly and open that we felt right at home. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies were on-hand as Eileen told us the history of the house....

Fabulous B & B!!! Eileen, Dennis and Jason are not only excellent inn keepers but interesting and friendly people. They pay attention to the details making everything perfect. Eileen shared her vast knowledge of the history of the Farmhouse and the Lighters, which was interesting and informative. If you want a great b&b experience full of Civil War history and...

So glad you enjoyed our homemade goodies because we truly enjoy preparing them for you. The strawberry freezer jam and the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies have become a tradition and we hope you can return again to enjoy them.
