Location was great for us. We walked to the Phil Art Museum, Barnes, Rodin, US Independence Center/Revolution Museum, Phil Fine Art Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary all within about 30 minute walk. We took a bus/trolley to the Penn Museum, FDR Park and Zoo. There are lots of options for public transportation within 5/10 minutes walk. There is a Budget/Avis within 5 minutes walk that we used twice for trips outside of town. As for restaurants, it is right next to Chinatown for Chinese food and within 5 minutes to Reading Terminal Market. It is it not really walking distance to some of the downtown restaurants or most of the Italian restaurants. That is more of an Uber ride away. The service at the front desk was always very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned on arrival and over all the hotel is fairly upgraded. Due to Covid they only have grab and go breakfast (small bagel/muffin, 2 hard boiled eggs, fruit (typically apple or orange) small yogurt. They now have coffee in the lobby all day. The rooms also have individual coffee machines, microwave and small frig. We always had hot water for our showers. The computers (2) and the printer in the lobby always worked fine for printing tickets, etc. Often in hotels these seem to be out of service, paper, etc. Now the not great stuff: The gentleman that did the room cleaning on the fifth floor left used towels, sheets, garbage bags, vacuum cleaner and dry mop just laying all over the hall way day after day while he was cleaning the rooms throughout the day. We had to step over/walk around the stuff each day to get too and from your room. NOT how it should be. The ice machine was broken 90% of the time on our floor. If you pay for/expect breakfast at a Hampton Inn you should get something better than what they provided. I understand grab and go during Covid but what is provided should be better. We had to ask a few times to get additional towels.

I was a bit nervous about staying down in the center of town when we were helping with the vaccine distribution...but Hampton Inn did a marvelous job. The hotel was set up for safety and security, and was well maintained and clean in all respects. I had some questions before arriving and the folks at the front desk did a great job ( Thanks, Jessica!!!) of answering them and helping me get in. They provided a breakfast each morning for us, called a taxi for us when we were leaving.... all in all, I would definitely stay here again.

Second visit - thought the problems in fall of 2020 were Adjusting to COVID. Apparently not. First problem is parking. The designated lot is not sufficient and is only rarely staffed. Pleasant enough people but not enough coverage. Second the front desk staff appeared overwhelmed continuously. Big problems: it's noisy. Loud a/c. Lots of street noise even in high floors. Clean at first. For both visits we didn't get maid service. We got towels when we picked them up ourselves. The room this time smelled of cigarettes intermittently- so air handler problem maybe? The elevators were slow and shaky. Last night we got stuck on the 11th floor before midnight. The 8 or so fire department team were great - professional- they said it happens all the time. I will not use their elevators again. We will not stay here again. This is the only negative hotel review I've ever left. Beware.

They need to get noise enforcement under control. They need to deliver on the promised breakfast, which they didn’t. Nor did they credit me. Room smelled smoked in. Made me concerned about cleanliness.

From the moment we arrived we were given very friendly customer service. We arrived 5 hours before check in and the hotel held onto our luggage for us so we could go sight see. At check in the front desk staff was very professional and friendly. The rooms were very clean and beds were very comfortable.
