At Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia, the staff's friendliness and professionalism receive high marks, though some guests suggest service could be more efficient. The hotel's atmosphere is appreciated for its sophistication, but opinions on room aesthetics are mixed. Its central location is a hit, despite concerns about the nearby area.
Amenities like the lobby fireplace and evening wine hours are highlights, yet some visitors find room features lacking. Cleanliness shines across the board, and while the hotel's value is debated, guests consistently enjoy the pristine rooms.

My husband and I stayed at the Kimpton Palomar in Philadelphia for a few days as the weather turned freezing. Not to worry, as there is a cozy fireplace in the lobby and at 5:00 truffle popcorn, a tasty merlot, Pinot Grigio and hot apple cider are served every evening. The staff is friendly and accommodating, our room and bathroom were spacious and king bed comfortable. The workout room has Peletons, free weights, elliptical and treadmills. There is a yoga mat in the rooms and we used the large sized umbrella they lent us. The heavy outside doors were always manned and being opened for us. We had a delicious Caesar salad with grilled shrimp in the restaurant. Highly recommend. There is a daily $28 resort fee but a $20 daily credit can be used in the restaurant or to purchase snacks or alcohol from the front desk. All in all we had a wonderful stay. Many great restaurants nearby as well as the Rittenhouse Square Park which was lit up beautifully.

My husband stayed at the Kimpton for a long weekend in June 2023. The location is ideal for shopping and dining. It is located in a safe area that has many walkable options. I love the hotel is pet friendly and offers a complimentary happy hour. The room was clean and comfortable. Our room 409 was very quiet. We purchased breakfast for each morning. It was great. The dining staff were exceptionally friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

One choosing an upscale hotel is not always certain whether they will be obtaining a better level of accommodations or simply a higher level of pretentiousness. I have been at plenty of premium properties that provide mainly the latter. But my decision to stay at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar in Philadelphia for a weekend splurge with my spouse turned out to be a winner.
We received exemplary accommodations. As part of the splurge, I reserved a one-bedroom suite. It was at the end of the (fairly short) hall and extremely quiet. It was also spacious and quite comfortable. The bedroom contained ample drawer space and an excellent bed. The living area offered ample seating and desk space. There was good light (both from windows and lamps) and ample plugs for our electronics. The bathroom was enormous, with plenty of space for our toiletries. We didn’t use the whirlpool tub, but were very favorably impressed with the shower and towels. Also of note: this is the first hotel with daily housekeeping that I have patronized in several years.
The hotel’s location proximate to office, shopping, and residential districts as well as transmit hubs attracts diverse patrons. Prominent among them is a group that has patronized Kimpton hotels for decades — canines. There were also a large number of families whose sons were participating in a youth lacrosse tournament. That tournament was in New Jersey, but the parents apparently preferred to stay in Center City Philadelphia, where parking is scare but craft cocktails plentiful.
Our decision not to drive in was prudent, given the valet parking rates. But we did try the craft cocktails at the hotel due to the hotel’s policy of allowing a $20 food and drink credit as a partial offset to the daily $28 “amenity charge.” The cocktails were well made and the bar a pleasant place to drink, avoiding the cheesiness sometimes characteristic of such establishments at chain hotels. But two cocktails, even at happy hour, cost a good deal more than $20. That was our sole visit to the restaurant, as there is a profusion of excellent coffee and dining establishments within a ten-minute walk.
We found the staff (which we sometimes contacted via the hotel’s text messaging system) responsive and helpful. Notwithstanding the hotel’s overall excellence, there is still room for improvement — involving elevators. Elevator service was sometimes erratic, with a few long waits or overcrowded cars. (The hotel is in a 26-story building and most guests aren’t in a position to use the stairs.) Also, the elevator lobby on the lobby level is far too dimly lit. Walking into it on a sunny afternoon was reminiscent of entering a movie theatre.

During April my partner and I stayed at the Kimpton Palomar in Philadelphia for 2 nights
Upon arrival, before check-in time, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and we were pleased to hear that our room was ready. The receptionist was informative, helpful and took an interest in our visit to Philadelphia asking us questions about our journey, our plans whilst visiting the city etc
Our room was modern, clean and spacious. The view wasn't great as we faced another building, however as we were only staying for 2 nights this didn't bother us. We did experience an issue with the safe (this was my fault!) and this was resolved quickly by the maintenance team
The hotel offers complimentary tea, coffee and wine in the lobby at certain times of the day, as well as there always being fresh water available. If you forgot to bring any items, there is a long list of items you can borrow from the hotel free of charge such as hair straighteners - I thought this was a lovely touch
My only "negative" point is in regards to the lifts - there are 4 lifts, however these are quite slow! It's worth factoring in if you're in a rush to leave the hotel or to get back to your room
The hotel is in an ideal location to various attractions nearby and was ideal for our visit to the city
Overall I really enjoyed staying in this hotel and would recommend it to others

I had an excellent experience staying at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar this last weekend. The restaurant in the hotel provided excellent food and drinks and all of the staff in the building were kind and extremely helpful. I especially appreciate the desk staff and cleaning staff, who were invaluable in finding and returning to me some items I had accidentally left in the room after check out. I highly recommend the Hotel Palomar and definitely plan on staying here again in the future!

Dont stay here. Second time we have stayed here and 3 of the 4 elevators do not work. Waited 15 minutes to get an elevator to the lobby. It’s inexcusable that they have such a persistent problem with a basic feature of a hotel. Will not return to a Kimpton hotel.

It's been a long time since I've been to a hotel in the USA where everything I asked for at check-in was YES YES YES YES... and with a smile. This hotel really aims to please. They proactively upgraded us for award night (booked by Platinum member) to a one bedroom jacuzzi suite and allowed us to stay in the room for the second paid night (booked by Diamond Ambassador). Gave us Diamond benefits for both nights. And the second day we arrived home greeted by a large fruit and cheese plate and 2 large bottles of Aqua Panna water with a hand written note.
THANK YOU Paige for making us feel so welcomed. And thanks to Isis and Paige for keeping tabs on us the whole stay to be sure we had everything we needed.
Because the whole staff was terrific, including the hosts for the wine hour, I gave 5 stars; but the hard product was a bit disappointing. Decor of the suite was a bit shabby and disorganized. I would put the refrigerator in the living room so as not to disturb someone sleeping. And the living room desk showed dozens of ugly wires underneath. Central light switch didn't work so needed to turn each lamp on and off individually. Uneven LR coffee table needs a flat glass top to avoid spilling liquids. No plug for charging next to one side of the king bed. One of the bedroom lights was out (quickly repaired), a/c-heat had one temp control for both rooms and it seems when we turned up the heat in living room, bedroom air conditioner would go on. Couldn't get both rooms moderately heated. Comforter and sheets low quality.
Breakfast was good although both days I asked for cracked eggs and I could taste that they were not. Both days we asked for decaf coffee and were told they didn't have any decaf beans. Even after I mentioned it to the server and to the front desk after day 1.
But all in all a fabulous stay. Thanks Again to Paige, Isis, and the whole Palomar Staff. This will now be our go-to hotel for Philly.

This is by far the absolute worst hotel I’ve been to in a very long time…. Both within and outside the USA. The disappointment is heartbreaking. I had no idea that it is possible for a hotel to be rated 4+ star and yet look and function like a one star. If you are used to hotel staff helping you with your baggage upon arrival, then understand the “welcome experience” is non-existent! I’ve never felt so overwhelmed and abandoned while checking into a hotel! The suites are tiny , stuffy , dirty-looking, with carpets that look a hundred years old. The phones don’t all work, they are stingy with toiletries, pillows and bed linen . The in-room jacuzzi is a death trap. I was misled by the decent star ratings. I wish I saw a review like the one I’m writing now. I would have avoided this awful hotel. I would pay premium to be in a comfortable hotel. This hotel and comfort and service do not belong in the same sentence. Sure - they have a great pet policy, but that’s all there is to this establishment. If you want to be comfortable, then this isn’t the place to book!

The hotel is centrally located, very well served by public transport. Very friendly staff. Negative: there is no kettle (kettle x coffee and tea), the mini-bar is empty while being charged $ 20 per night for expenses that can only be made in the hotel restaurant (which, on Sundays closes at 2 pm). A bottle of water in the room, instead of complimentary is charged at $10.

Fantastic property & staff. The location is perfect for needing to be walking distance to the major sites in downtown Philly. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The rooms were spacious & clean. The amenities that the hotel offers such as coffee in the morning and a wine social hour in the afternoon really sets it apart. I would highly recommend anyone stay here!

I’m not sure about when it is offered but when there is an available rate that includes breakfast, that is for in restaurant dining. The diamond elite breakfast welcome amenity option also only applies to in restaurant dining. We received a voucher to present to the waitress which covered the meal as we ordered it. We were happy we ate there
