Great location for our day and a half in Philadelphia. We were happy to leave the car parked and walk to the historical sites (yes, it’s $30/night, but it’s downtown parking so actually pretty reasonable and they let us stay until 4p after checkout). Rooms were clean, breakfast was above average for a hotel breakfast, climate control wasn’t an issue, and front desk staff were welcoming and friendly.

Stayed here for a last minute trip to Philly for an engagement party. For some reason all other hotels were extremely expensive that weekend so we booked at the Holiday Inn Express. The room was good enough! The free breakfast in the morning had a good selection!

We stayed here one night (glad it wasn’t more) and overall weren’t very impressed. Positives: -Breakfast included with a good selection -24/7 coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate -They will store your luggage before and/or after check in if needed -Free shuttle to downtown/Independence Hall -Shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in shower -15 minute walk to historic district Negatives: -The hotel was pretty much plopped down in the middle of a busy road, hwy 95 and the Ben Franklin Bridge, so as you can imagine it’s VERY loud! We had a room with a view (of the river) and it was really loud. I can’t imagine having a room that faced the highway. The picture on their website are a bit deceiving. - The price seemed really high! We spent half what charges here for a hotel in NYC right near Times Square. - Parking is not included so you have to pay even more money.

I really wanted to give this review a 1, solely based on the poor level of customer service provided by one of the INCREDIBLY unpleasant individuals on the 3pm-11pm shift. Here is where the stay went wrong: as soon as we walked into the hotel, you could tell the front desk agent was in a mood, while the other individual was helping another guest. The lady, didn't look at us once but asked the gentlemen at the desk, "do THEY need help?" 1) No, I guess we are standing at the front desk with 5 bags for absolutely no reason. 2) "THEY" - ??!?!?! please help this woman collect her ungrateful and condescending attitude and place it behind closed doors. After 10 minutes, she reluctantly helped us, by finally, in a condescending tone, saying "what can I do for you". After checking us in, without providing any hotel details, she assisted the couple behind us...very happily, making me question whether this was a racial profiling issue. GET IT TOGETHER. As a front desk agent, you are the face of the hotel and if you don't know how to be pleasant to every single guest that walks into your property, then you have no business working there or in any form of face-to-face customer service. A rating of 1 isn't fair though as the property itself is well-maintained and most of the other staff we interacted with were much more pleasant. The only other thing I would note is if you are a light sleeper, you may want to ask to be on a quieter side of the hotel. We were on the 9th floor and facing the highway and we could hear everything. The first night I woke up several times, however the second night I slept through the noise

This hotel is convenient to the tourist spots but that is really the only positive. We stayed at the hotel for one night. The room was small and dated and didn’t feel clean. The noise from the road was horrible all night long. You definitely have better options in philly.
