The only problem we had following the rental car's navigation was that the turn to the hotel is SO CLOSE to the foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge...it took us into New Jersey! LOL. A nice policeman told us to go back over the bridge & where to turn to get to Penn's Landing. Otherwise, if you're not used to massive traffic every day...take a taxi. Runs about $30 each way you want to go; but worth the "no stress" of driving. Plus, this hotel has a free shuttle to Independence Hall & you can practically walk everywhere from there.

Review collected in partnership with Cancelon.com
Three of us travelling together opted to stay here during our visit to Philadelphia because the downtown hotels were so expensive. The drive to and from the city was about 30 minutes on the weekend. The room was clean,, sofa bed ok, and breakfast buffet good value . Coffee was excellent which we appreciated. Parking easy, Front desk efficient.

We did not have a car during our stay but it is so close to the old city attractions that we could walk everywhere! The room was comfortable and we had a river view room. The rooms on the other side of the hotel back right up to the Interstate. Friendly staff and measured up to Holiday Inn Express standards. The hotel does charge extra for using their parking lot.

The hotel itself is ok, clean, some of the staff is friendly, shuttle service and ok breakfast, but...... the main reason to book a hotel is to get some sleep. We did not get any sleep. Sleeping here is impossible. The interstate/highway noise is so loud I am wondering if they even have double glass or isolation. In room 818 it is just like there is no glass in the window at all traffic is really terrible loud. So loud you can not sleep at all. It's not a highway noise in the distance you can sleep through or get used too after a while, it is a constant loud noise of cars pulling up breaking etc it's contant and different very loud noises all night long so you can not get used to the sound. It's like the hotel is not isolated at all. They gave us a noise canceling machine the first night after complaining (the fact that they even have these machines says that noise is a problem in this hotel!). Volume 1 of this machine does not help a thing and volume 2 on this machine helps a little bit more but not enough because now you have a loud machine making simulair sounds as if you are boiling water for tea next to your ear the whole night long plus you still hear te loud highway trucks racing by. We tried putting the machine on different places in our room, but no matter where we put it the problem did not get fixed. Even besides the noise canceling machine pulling a pillow over our heads which is very uncomfortable did not make the noises go away enough to be able to sleep through it. Second night I called reception half an hour to try to get some earplugs. (even not sleeping the night before and being that exhausted could help us fall asleep the noise is just way too loud and we even lived for 5 year in an appartement right besides a highway ourselves and never slept terrible because of this, but this hotel was horrible to sleep in). They did not answer the phone and I ended up frustrated in my pyjamas at the desk in the lobby in the middle of the night where they searched for half an hour to then tell me they did not find any earplugs and the hotel was fully booked so we could not get another room. Also other hotels would be full she said and would take too much time before we had to get out of bed already, so replacing us was not an option. After promising a refund but because we booked through a third party the receptionist and congierge could not fix this theirselves because of that and they needed management for that they promised us to email us since management would arive after 9 a.m. and we had to leave and catch a train at 7 a.m. We never got an email and after emailing them several times afterwards reminding them of this issue/their promiss, they act like they don't know any off this and that we have to tell them their staffs names which I am sure they should be able to see in their schedule/administration who was on duty that night. So besides not getting any sleep, they also do not keep their promisses and do not handle complaints properly and deny the whole thing even happened. I would recommend going to another hotel when visiting Philladelphia if you truly want to enjoy your stay there and not be exhausted and frustrated. Also to add... our room did not get cleaned. We had to get new towels and toilet paper at the front desk.

Thank your for your review of our property. I am sorry to hear about your frustration. The property is currently installing an extra window which is going to reduce the noise from the nearby highway. In the meantime I will look into the white noise machines to see if there is a better machine we can provide for our guests. Your complete satisfaction is important to our team and if there is anything further I can do to assist feel free to reach out to my personally. Our room overlooked the Delaware River and the Ben Franklin bridge, and the location was very convenient to the Independence Mall area. It is a huge benefit to stay at a hotel that offers breakfast because of the time saved by not having to go out to get something to eat. The breakfast selection was good, and we had no problem finding seating. There is a nightly fee for parking, which we expected, and we parked our car when we arrived and did not use the car again until we checked out. We appreciated having the shuttle available in the morning, and since we are early risers the shuttle was always ready and waiting by the door when we got ready to start our day. Since we do so much walking when we visit a city, this just helped us save a few steps. We always walked back to the hotel after we finished exploring, so I can't report on how long it took for a shuttle pickup if you called in the afternoon. There are really only 3 restaurants close by, and one was closed for wedding events during our stay, so that was a little bit of a disappointment. I expected lots of restaurants on the river, but much of the pier area is residential housing so that was not the case. Race Street Cafe and La Veranda were a short walk away, and both were very good. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the noise level was what we expected from a hotel in an urban area. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and we were very pleased with our stay.
