La Reserve consists of two beautifully well-preserved, 1850's Four-Story Townhouses located only three blocks from Rittenhouse Square in the Heart of Historic Center City Philadelphia. Our convenient location is within walking distance to many exclusive shops and fine restaurants located on Rittenhouse Square, as well as many major Philadelphia Historic attractions and sights.
The only reason I'm giving La Reserve a 4/5 is because I'm comparing it to a B&B in MA that has spoiled us for years. Otherwise this would be a 5. Having never been to Philadelphia before we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and checked in. The location is a beautiful historic street with brick rowhouses. We were in a suite that was more like a small apartment with all the basic amenities we needed and more. Maria, the innkeeper, was so incredibly nice and helpful. I could go into detail but it takes so much room! The Bed & Breakfast is in 2 residences attached to each other. For breakfast we needed to go next door which meant going outside and taking 2 steps to enter the other door. It was fun to get a glimpse of the morning air just before eating. The dining room is lovely and we met some very nice folks there. The table is shared with others which is something we love to do. The weekday menu is help yourself but the weekend is a wonderful hot breakfast. For the most though, the sense of history in this wonderful inn and the location where we could walk to almost anything was so much more than we expected. I cannot wait to return to La Reserve and Philadelphia! Thank you especially to Maria and the staff who made us feel so welcome!…

If you read the other reviews, they are accurate. Our stay was a delightful experience in every way. Starting with Maria, who is helpful, professional and friendly. Enjoyed our conversation about the challenges of keeping up an “older home”. Also, Dennis was an artist with food! He created the best breakfasts! Loved the peach crepes! La Reserve is “grand” in many ways. Quiet, comfortable, charming and in a great neighborhood, convenient to restaurants, shopping, and the University. We will be back!

Our coed book club met in Philadelphia for the weekend. We had an excellent stay at La Reserve bed-and-breakfast. We had five rooms and suites. Everyone was very comfortable, Sunday morning breakfast was excellent. One of the suites was large enough for eight of us to gather for cocktails and a book club discussion before dinner. Excellent location in downtown Philadelphia. Just a few blocks from Rittenhouse Square. Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful townhouse in the center of old Philadelphia. Everyone was kind and helpful - the heat in my room didn't work and the manager came up immediately and fixed it. I was on the second floor, and hadn't thought about that when I booked a B and B because I wasn't expecting to have to carry up my heavy suitcase - but that's not what B and B's do! I had a huge room that was comfortable, a teeny bit outdated, but very pleasant. You go in and out of the building by pressing your hand on a clever security pad system, and they were very helpful about explaining it.

Maria and the staff were wonderful. We stayed in a suite which was spacious and well appointed. We had both the continental breakfast on Friday and the plated breakfast on Saturday, both were wonderful. Ed was especially helpful assisting with our check in and also recommending restaurants within walking distance. The location was great, we walked from Pine and 18th to the historical area around 5th and 6th streets - a very pleasant walk. My only suggestion would be to provide either a refrigerator for guests (one centrally located one would be fine) or an ice machine for cold beverages guests may wish to store.

This is great value, I paid $128 per night. Short walk to Rittenhouse square, less than 10 minutes. Cute neighbourhood, felt very safe. Unique old decor, looks 19th century. Shared bathroom on same floor. Very friendly staff, great check in, very helpful. Breakfast is cereal, bagels, muffins etc. Bed was comfortable, large room. No tv or tea/ coffee facilities. Not a criticism, just info. Would stay again.

We stayed for one night and had a good stay. The rooms are decorated beautifully and the shared shower room was perfect for our needs. Lugging suitcases up the stairs wasn’t fun but this is a period house so be warned there are no lifts! The mid week breakfast was ok, plain food and simple food but all perfectly edible. You share a large table with all guests. When we first walked in it felt really awkward as no one was speaking but a bit later several engaging guests arrived and the e atmosphere improved! One improvement would be a fridge to keep the water cold.

We stayed for a long weekend and felt that we had our own little apartment in the city. Very comfortable and within walking distance of great restaurants. Breakfast on the weekends is fantastic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We look forward to our next visit.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a wonderful one-night stay at La Reserve. The bed and breakfast is located in a beautiful neighborhood, a few blocks south of Rittenhouse Square. I particularly enjoyed walking through the streets surrounding the bed and breakfast and marveling at all of the beautifully maintained period homes. The two townhouses in which the bed and breakfast contain many of their original architectural features and are nicely decorated with period furnishings. Our room was large, clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced. My only gripe was with our breakfast. We stayed on a weekday when a continental breakfast is provided. It felt like we were being served leftovers - a very dry frittata that was prepared on a previous day and had been reheated, a dry croissant that had been purchased on a previous day and reheated, and several bagels which had been purchased on a previous day and wrapped in plastic. Despite the quality of the breakfast, I would still say that the overall experience was a good value given how reasonably priced the rooms are. I think it would have been better if the owners reduced the selection available for breakfast but improved the quality. All this being said, I would still highly recommend staying at La Reserve with the expectation that you may just need to skip the breakfast.…

I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed my stay here with my S/O. This is a small B&B that feels like HOME in the middle of the city. The property welcomes all (Families, LGBT people, etc) which was so so nice. Breakfast is provided and prepared by the manager, Maria and some other staff. It was absolutely delicious and the dining room is so cute and cozy! The Location Situated on Pine St right off of Rittenhouse Square, the location is PERFECT and gives you easy access to lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and the gayborhood. The Room We stayed in the Chateau Room on the second floor. Spacious, high ceilings, lovely french inspired decor. Shared bathroom with one other room on that floor was not a problem at all, and the bathroom shower was HOT and had everything one would expect. Open the cathedral window inside the shower to let some steam out. The Management Maria was an absolute dream of an operator. She welcomed us warmly at check in and gave us a printout with all of the necessary information regarding the property and how to access the front door after hours etc. A passionate woman with a kind heart and a real love for her business. Please be kind to her and her business, as it is obvious she puts her entire being into making it a success. Overall an experience that I would absolutely 100% prefer over any corporate hotel chain stay. Do yourself a favor and reserve a room at La Reserve on your next Philly visit!…
