Full disclosure: the place was being renovated while we were there but this didn’t affect our stay very much or any of the points in this review. Check-in was very odd. I booked on Hotwire and, while I had my confirmation number and the reservation was clearly in my name, the spelling of my name was one letter off and this seemed to be a very big deal to the guy checking me in who asked me several time “so who is.....” and when he finally understood it me said, “ You have to make sure you tell them spell your name right next time.” Whatever, dude. Please, I clearly have a reservation. Just let me go to my room. Hallways were dark and musty smelling. Room was very dated despite the hotel advertising recently renovated rooms. Maybe they didn’t get to all of them yet. Ice machine wasn’t working. They told us to call downstairs for ice but, since that would mean having to tip someone, we didn’t want to do this. On the plus side, bed was comfortable and the location, steps away from all of the historic attractions as well as Spruce Street Harbor and Penn’s Landing. However, not a great experience overall.

We stayed here for two nights during a recent quick visit to Philadelphia. The hotel's location is excellent - it's in a nice, relatively-secluded corner of Society Hill but it's just a short 10-15 minute walk to the major attractions in the area. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is undergoing a massive renovation. The lobby area was covered up and the reception area was temporarily transferred to a different location during our stay. The main entrance to the hotel was also moved on our second day there. The room we stayed in was obviously newly-renovated. It was very modern, clean, and spacious, but the smell of paint and wood hits you the moment you enter the room. It would have been nice if they did something to mask the smell. We had breakfast at the hotel twice. Breakfast appeared to be in a temporary location as well. Food choices were adequate and the quality of the food was alright. However, I noticed that the place seemed rather understaffed, and staff aren't as attentive as I would have hoped. Our glasses of water weren't refilled unless we call the staff's attention. Sometimes, we would just bring our glasses to the pitchers at the bar and we would refill them ourselves. I sure hope that these setbacks are just temporary due to the renovations going on. Overall, however, our experience was still pretty good and I'd probably give this place another chance.

The Sheraton Society Hill has recently been renovated - the rooms are updated and modern. The lobby area is still being worked on but should be great once completed. The hotel is in a great location - close to the waterfront and walking distance to the great nightlife and food scene in Old City. The room was clean, large and well laid out. The check in process was quick and painless and the staff was a pleasure to interact with. The lobby is pretty cool - it's designed as a large courtyard and really gives the hotel a nice feel. I will be back anytime I need to stay in the area.

Three stars because of the location, but this place is flawed. There is major construction going on and the lobby has been temporarily relocated. This is confusing for drivers, but we figured it out. We were given a friendly greeting on check in. We were fortunate to be able to check in early, but they sent us to an occupied room. Sadly, we didn’t view anything too exciting when we entered. Eventually we were given our own room and it was quite nice. It was very clean with a delightful king size bed. We found the club room and grabbed a quick and disappointing breakfast. We like staying at hotels that include breakfast and Marriott/Sheraton properties are usually pretty standard and predictable. This had a limited selection with rounds of Canadian bacon floating in a bath of water, very unappealing. The noise from construction made conversation difficult. Fortunately, we don’t typically spend much time in a room, so we weren’t terribly inconvenienced by the noise. The bathroom was a nice size and always cleaned well. We checked out this morning, after another disappointing breakfast. The room was empty, maybe everyone figured out that the breakfast wasn’t worth the risk. Today it was dried out breakfast burritos and cold sausages. If I wanted milk in my oatmeal, I would have had to pour it from a gallon container of 2%, no skim. They’d apparently run out of mini cartons. We left without eating. I hope that once the construction is done, this will be a better experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights wanting to snag a location close to Penn Landing. The location proved terrific for everything Old City related. Easy walk to the Museum of the American Revolution and not too much further to the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, etc. Also, less than a block walk to several nice restaurants including City Tavern. The staff were friendly and helfpul (particularly the doormen). The accomodations are starting to show some signs of aging but were perfectly good and we weren't unhappy. The cool lemon water at the front desk was a nice touch on a hot day. The restaurant is undergoing renovation so a temporay restaurant and bar are set up. The cocktails were good and the Cobb Salad very good. Our only complaint is most of our TV stations did not work. We didn't report it because my husband wasn't feeling well and didn't want someone in the room fixing it. We would stay here again.
