Not only are the beds comfortable and the breakfast generous, but the rooms at the Gables offer a continuous feast for the eye. There are no empty spaces! The effect is soothing and rich rather than overwhelming because every object d'art, doily, statue or decorative plate is perfectly chosen to complement each room's colour scheme and atmosphere. One feels wrapped... More

What a great find, search no further if you are looking for a great B and B while in Philly. The home is period decorated and very clean. The breakfast was wonderful with snacks and drinks available at your leisure. The grounds and gardens were a wonderful place to enjoy a take out meal. It is a great location in... More

Very much enjoyed our stay here! Our room was so clean and and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast every morning was wonderful! It is in a nice neighborhood near the university. Parking is free so that beats what you would pay for a hotel stay in the city. We left our car parked and used Uber to pick us up... More

We discovered The Gables while exploring hotel options in the Philadelphia area. We couldn't be happier with our decision to spend 6 days in this wonderful restored mansion. We stayed in the Garden Room, overlooking the lush gardens on the property. The Gables is quiet and separated from the hustle, bustle of the city; yet the trolley stops right outside... More

We spent two nights at The Gables, and what fun it was. We were in Philly for a conference, and it was wonderful to be away from all of the conference hotel hubbub. It was super easy to get from The Gables to the convention center using the trolly (get on right across the street) which takes you to a... More

The Gables Bed and Breakfast is a magnificent old mansion whose marvelous ambience (historic structure, Victorian opulence in every detail), comfortable rooms, and hospitable proprietors made our stay totally memorable. We stayed at the Gables for a total of seven nights spread out over two weeks for a trip back east; the place was recommended by our daughter, who lives... More

The downside of staying in a B&B is, you're in someone else's house. It is a different feel from staying in a hotel or motel, where you "own" the room for the length of time you are paying for. It's just a different feel, a different vibe between the two. The décor in a hotel is usually pretty neutral, and... More

I used to live near the Gables, and wanted an affordable place to stay in my old neighborhood. I didn't expect to walk into the Gables and find such a beautifully furnished and spacious Victorian mansion. The living room, dining room, parlor and bedrooms are filled with antique furniture, fabrics, and coverings. The rooms have all this plus modern touches... More

Wife, grown son and I spent a night here on a two day visit to Philly about a month ago. We found TGB&B to be conveniently located to the usual tourist spots, in a very nice neighborhood, clean and attractive and well managed by a friendly staff. A bit on the pricey side, however.
