We've been to The Gables in the summer, when the lush garden and shady veranda were highlights, in addition to the sumptuously decorated rooms. But The Gables has earned a separate review from us with its Christmas welcome. (We were in town to visit our youngest, and were unaware of that it was the weekend of the Army/Navy game. Others... I stayed in the Library Room the night before an interview at University of Penn. I had a great nights sleep along with a warm welcome from Warren. I was able to leave my car and walk to the university. Breakfast was wonderful. I would stay here again and again if returning to Philadelphia. Thanks much

Love, love this place!! It was my boyfriend's birthday and we were provided with a complimentary bottle of champagne! Warren, the innkeeper was simply the best! We're very choosy about our B&B's and this place didn't disappoint! The decor was beautiful and every antique and piece of furniture was immaculate!!

Preface: Though my wife and I thoroughly love mid century modern in terms of architecture, furniture, et al (think Aalto, Eames, Nelson, Noguchi, Saarinen, Van der Rohe, etc), we truly enjoyed our stay at the Gables Bed and Breakfast, a mansion restored to its Victorian splendor. Warren, the proprietor, was helpful and gracious as were others including Don and Patrice.... More

Not only are the beds comfortable and the breakfast generous, but the rooms at the Gables offer a continuous feast for the eye. There are no empty spaces! The effect is soothing and rich rather than overwhelming because every object d'art, doily, statue or decorative plate is perfectly chosen to complement each room's colour scheme and atmosphere. One feels wrapped... More

What a great find, search no further if you are looking for a great B and B while in Philly. The home is period decorated and very clean. The breakfast was wonderful with snacks and drinks available at your leisure. The grounds and gardens were a wonderful place to enjoy a take out meal. It is a great location in... More

Very much enjoyed our stay here! Our room was so clean and and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast every morning was wonderful! It is in a nice neighborhood near the university. Parking is free so that beats what you would pay for a hotel stay in the city. We left our car parked and used Uber to pick us up... More

We discovered The Gables while exploring hotel options in the Philadelphia area. We couldn't be happier with our decision to spend 6 days in this wonderful restored mansion. We stayed in the Garden Room, overlooking the lush gardens on the property. The Gables is quiet and separated from the hustle, bustle of the city; yet the trolley stops right outside... More

We spent two nights at The Gables, and what fun it was. We were in Philly for a conference, and it was wonderful to be away from all of the conference hotel hubbub. It was super easy to get from The Gables to the convention center using the trolly (get on right across the street) which takes you to a... More
