Accom: The building itself is very big, old and pretty. It is a little far out of town (45 mins walk/public transport from downtown Philly) but we liked the trip past the river and through the suburbs. The hostel also sells bus tokens which was handy. If you have a car the distance obviously wouldn't be a concern. They also...

Our Boy Scout Troop went to Philadelphia in February. We stayed at Chamounix for three nights. The staff was great - friendly, accommodating, and they enjoyed hearing stories from our Scouts. Rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms and kitchen. Since we had such a large group, they gave us our own fridge and cupboards. We will definitely go back.

This hostel is definitely cheap but if i ever return to Philly, i would pay more to stay somewhere nicer. The hostel is miles for anywhere. The closest bus stop and local shop is about a mile walk. Not great when you have a suitcase to carry around with you. The general feel of the hostel was not to my...

It's the oldest hostel in Philly and the first in America: it shows. The staff are friendly, the place is clean, but it's old. The floor creaks. There aren't many power points. The layout is strange. There are forgotten books and crannies. That said: the place is serviceable and well-maintained. It's outside central Philly, so it isn't as accessible as...

Greeted by a friendly happy man named Aaron who was so accommodating and took the time to point out some places to eat and show us videos. The rooms are spotless as are the bathrooms. There's separate girl and boy dorms with about ten people in a dorm. It's cheap and fantastic!!! Free loan of bikes too:) Ill definitely be...

Visited for only a day when I had some errands to run in Philly. Chose this hostel because it is the cheapest available hostel and one that comes with free parking. We were very pleased with the location of the hostel (in Fairmount Park) where traffic is light and the area is quiet and safe. Upon arrival we decided to...

Chamounix Mansion is a great place to stay if you're wanting to visit Philadelphia for a few days but don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation. It's only around a 20 minute walk to the bus stop from the hostel (make sure you get some bus tokens from the reception in the hostel as you will end up saving...

This was my first hostel experience and it had everything that I wanted in a hotel/motel (expect for an available hairdryer ~ 5 am), but with a much more excellent, friendly atmosphere where one can meet like-minded individuals. This hostel is a must stay! I would also like to mention that I am mainly writing this review to acknowledge excellent...

As far as hostels are concerned, the place is decent. Not spectacular, but also not below average. The mansion is old and one can tell, but the surroundings are amazing (do take the 20 minute walk from the bus stop, you're not going to regret it), and the service is amazing. Friendlinissimo. If you're looking for a low-budget stay and...

the walk to this mansion in the countryside was so beautiful in October that one is reminded of the poem Ode to Autumn. The rustling of dried crimson leaves as you walk to this place is so enticing that one is tranpotrted to a scene in a classic descriptive novel centuries ago. The walk from the bus stop is about...
