On a Saturday night in June I went to 201 Hotel after making my reservation on-line (through the Marriott BonVoy sytstem) and having it confirmed earlier that same day. When arriving the front desk to check in, the person on duty said they had a system error and would not honor the reservation. No room. Reservation would not be honored. Too bad. In fact, the two front desk workers had a laugh about it. They could not care less. And they said they did not know how to contact me earlier. (BTW, I made the reservation through the Marriott web site and have status with Marriott so they have my contact details.) There was no effort to find a room at another hotel or to compensate for my taxi from the airport to the hotel. The only thing was terrible customer service. The worst front desk and service experience I have ever encountered. And I have stayed in a lot of hotels. Much more is expected from any hotel - especially a Marriott property. The staff is inadequately trained and supervised and their operations are unsatisfactory.

I visited the hotel because it was the host of a conference I was attending. The initial information I received was that hotel was going through an upgrade and all the room upgrades will be done much before the conference was to start in mid June. I booked a room with a King bed but when I arrived they only had a room with two queen beds. The room was in horrible shape with dirty carpet and broken furniture while it had a terrible smell. There was no courtesy stuff in the room. There was no mini bar or snacks available in the room either. On the second day I planned to use the gym and realized I didn’t have my gym sneakers on me so I went to the concierges desk to inquire if there was a possibility of borrowing sneakers for the gym use. On hearing my question, the concierge Instead of politely telling me “no”, started laughing as my question was too ridiculous to even answer. This was one of the worst customer service experience I have even had at a hotel. The hotel later on dropped a letter through the door of my room explaining that they’re going through renovations and they hoped that customers understand their inability to offer upgraded rooms. I later learned through other colleagues attending the conference that they also received the same letter and that condition of their rooms was equally bad. It was a weird letter since it didn’t provide an explanation of why were the upgraded rooms not available or any apology as such. I sent a complaint email to the hotel manager but have received an acknowledgment or a reply to the email even after 2 days of finishing my stay. Hope to never go back to this hotel after this horrible experience.

Stayed here twice for work in last month. Stains on carpet, TV doesn’t work, new remote, still doesn’t. Overpowering musty smell, makes all clothes smell. Well below average for the class they pretend to be in. Lobby is nice.

We visited the Philadelphia 201 Hotel in Philadelphia, PA for a conference only. We did not stay here, but the conference room was very nice, clean and spacious. The restaurant employee's were exemplary in their service to both guests, and visitors. Special thanks to Bartenders **Greg W, *Bryan and Allan. Wait/Hosts Jasmin and Shyhie. The two evening Bellman working outside, who loaned us umbrellas during a heavy rain storm. Thank you all, it was our pleasure. Grateful visitors. Ernest NY

While this lovely hotel is under renovation, one hardly notices when visiting. The staff is so personable and devoted to customer care that I can't wait to visit again once all of the rooms are upgraded. Special thanks to Mary in concierge, Stella in the food court, and the ever personable server, Ed in the restaurant.
