It was built in 1907 so is very rustic. The 2nd floor is European where we stayed and the bathrooms are shared but no problem. The Inn is on Penn Cove bay, a beautiful setting. The staff are very helpful and the mussels from Penn Cove are the very best.

The Inn is very old, wooden, creaky and quaint. Even the newer rooms in which we stayed, overlooking the Lagoon, albeit larger and more modern are wooden and old-fashioned. However, what should have been charming seemed to us to be un-tidy and un-maintained, in need of a makeover with tender loving and sympathetic care. The staff on arrival were rather... More

We stayed one night at this Inn. The main building is certainly kept as it was when originally built with some updates. We enjoyed cocktails and appies on the deck overlooking the ocean. Beautiful sunny spot to sit and relax. The dinner meal was good and very entertaining. The chef came out and berated a couple because they were not... More

My husband booked two nights, via a local Groupon promotion, at the Captain Whidbey Inn for mid-June as a mini-getaway. We've known of the Inn for many years and were excited to finally see what it was like. When we arrived our room was not yet ready (we were early so that was to be expected), but the check-in lady... Very much enjoyed our stay at the Capt Whidbey Inn and our Whidbey Island experience. On Whidbey Island for a wedding, we picked the inn for its location but loved the place for its rustic charm. I'd love to stay there again. The creaking floors and shared bathrooms might turn off some but the true pleasure of the inn is... More

I stayed here in late June and the weather was sunny and warm. I had wonderful views of Penn Cove from my room in the historic Inn, and I was very comfortable. The Inn is a wonder in itself, and filled with antiques and history. The daily breakfast was plentiful. In the evening I enjoyed a delicious halibut dinner on... More

My young adult son and daughter and I enjoyed a peaceful night at The Captain Whidbey Inn last week. It certainly was old and rustic but very peaceful and feels like a world away from it all. One of the highlights of our whole week in the Northwest was the lovely dinner we shared at The Captain Whidbey Inn. We... More

This a quiet and peaceful retreat. Great views over the lagoon with deer nibbling the grass. Comfortable room and mattress...no TV. The lodge itself is charming beyond words. Beautifully maintained and welcoming. We had a snack in the bar and were warmly taken care of.

I bought a groupon for one of the lagoon rooms. Very rustic but nice rooms. Terrible service though. For what you pay to stay here i expected much better. No ice when told there would be. Didnt pick up room on second day, no new towels, no coffee, no tp. Didnt empty garbage. Rude waiter at restaurant , menu blew... More

A girlfriend and I just spent a Sunday and Monday night in the second floor inn rooms, using groupons. After reading some of the negative reviews, I had some reservations about our stay - but, we were both delighted with what we found. We did luck out with beautiful weather the end of June - which did make the stay... More
