A Quiet Canyon is a short 3 miles from Devils Tower, set back on one of many country roads. The wind in the pines, singing song birds, and stunning sunsets are the only things occurring out here. Both the Mountain Valley Room and High Plains Suite have views of the Tower Valley from the beds, bathrooms, and porches. The kitchen table also has views as well. As a previous guest put it, "Thank you for being a lovely respite, for two weary travelers."

We couldn’t be more pleased with our 1-night stay at A Quiet Canyon; in fact, the moment I walked into the Mountain Valley Room, I regretted that we could only stay one night. Spacious, warm, impeccably clean, our room was both inviting and comforting after a long day of travel. I had originally intended for us to unload and head to dinner, but I didn’t want to budge, opting instead to pull up a chair on the porch to watch the chickens peck around the yard while the sun set over an unobstructed, magnificent view of Devils Tower. A storm passed through the night of our stay; I fought off sleep to watch the lightening crack open the horizon and reveal Devils Tower in flashes of light from my elk skin-covered bed. Hosts Sarah and Joe are dedicated to serving their guests, careful to respect privacy while ensuring comfort. Sarah served a hearty breakfast that included delicious homemade cinnamon rolls and engaging conversation. Sarah and Joe are a hardworking, generous, kind couple, dedicated to renovating the home and property on their secluded 100 acres. They’ve put the guest rooms and adjoining (private) balconies ahead of some of their own comforts and aesthetics, resulting in a wonderfully comfortable, peaceful stay that I would both do again in a heartbeat and recommend heartily.

Background: Before we started a bicycle trip in South Dakoka (Badlands, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mount Rushmore), we detoured via a rental car to visit Devil's Tower, WY, just 2 hours away. We're glad we did. Verdict: While A Quiet Canyon is a construction work in progress, our brief stay with Sarah, Joe, Ruth, Panzer (the German Shepherd), and Sunny (the cat) couldn't have been lovelier. If you're pet adverse, Sarah and Joe can be sure to make sure the 4 legged part of their family are not around you. We're from Vermont and are used to cats and large dogs (including German Shepherds) so it was a welcome treat for us. A Quiet Canyon is on an unpaved dirt road, just a few miles from the entrance to Devil's Tower. This was perfect for snagging one of the limited number of parking spots at the Devil's Tower Visitor Center before the throngs of crowds arrived later in the morning. Our compact rental car had no issues navigating the country road. We had to wait for a large beef cow to cross the road (which is no different than waiting for a bison to cross the road in Custer State Park). Sarah served a large homemade style breakfast (with fresh eggs from her free range chickens) where we all ate together. Yum. For dinner the night before we went to The Gulch, which was nearby. Huge salmon serving and large steak salad. Yum again. We absolutely would return to A Quiet Canyon and recommend it for others.

Ok, so the exterior is not Versailles, but the inside is fabulous. The view of Devils Tower can’t be beat; it is simply stunning. There are spacious rooms with large, comfortable beds and more amenities than can be expected from a B&B. It is clean and very welcoming. The owners, Sarah and Joe, are wonderful hosts who made us feel right at home. Sarah is a great cook who served the best breakfast that I’ve ever had from a B&B (all from scratch). We only stayed one night, but would have been thrilled to spend a week there. I love to stay in B&Bs, and the stay at Quiet Canyon was the best I’ve ever had. To really do it justice would require far more than I’ve written here.

We've stayed there several times, always a pleasure. We enjoy the relaxed pace and conversations around the table. The views are fantastic and uncluttered. You really get that "getting away from it all" feeling and we enjoy the surrounding towns as well.

We spent a night during our 25th Anniversary road trip. This is a beautiful location with a view that is not to be missed. The recently updated rooms are very cozy, we stayed in the High Plains Suite and the new addition of the covered porch doubles your private space. We enjoyed the breakfast and spending a lovely morning with a great family. Thank you for opening your home to us, it was one of the highlights of our trip. We appreciate the suggestion for the scenic bypass through Spearfish Canyon on the way to the Black Hills, the views were amazing.
