We stayed for four nights in Unit 611 at 1849 Mountain Rentals at Mammoth and could not have been more pleased! From ease of making the reservation (including a call directly to the office to inquire about which units were best suited for what we were looking for) to a very energetic and welcoming check in to a fantastic unit, everything was outstanding! We had 8 adults in our 4BR unit and that was perfect although if kids are in the group there is plenty more room for them too. The living room and wrap around sofa was perfect for hanging out and especially for watching the Super Bowl and the elevated dining room table for 8 was perfect for meals and games. Not to be left out is the amazing location, a 3 minute walk to Canyon Lodge or a 1 minute walk to a snow covered path you can ski down right to the lift. If there was one small downside the Jacuzzi was closed due to Covid but obviously that was beyond managers control. We have stayed in Mammoth for over 15 years and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed for families, even better than Juniper, Main Lodge or condos by the Village (don't have to ride Gondola up and back) and the people here couldn't be more friendly and welcoming!

This is where we stay when our own condo is booked. I've know all the people who run 1849. My family and I have been staying htere for over 15 years. They just finished updating the property too! A great bunch of folks! Great location - yards from Canyon lodge and up to the slopes you go.

We were going to Mammoth with a larger-than-usual group last weekend and, although we hadn't stayed there before in our many Mammoth trips, 1849 condos were my first choice because of proximity to the Canyon Lodge lifts. We rented this huge, 4BR condo for the nine of us and we all loved it. The photos on the website do not do the cozy mountain decor justice and the biggest, greatest surprise was the beautiful mountain view from the living room and views of the gondola from some of the bedrooms...what fun!

The open-plan living room (with wood fireplace)/dining room and kitchen was spacious enough for all of us to hang out at the same time. Did I mention the windows and the views? Definitely the best we've ever had in Mammoth.

One of the king-bed bedrooms has a jacuzzi tub...this is in addition to the outdoor complex hot tubs a short walk away.

The staff at the complex was extraordinarily helpful and professional...no glitches at all and we were even able to arrange a late check-out to enjoy even more.

We will definitely be back as soon as we can!

If you are after the perfect location, I would spend the money to stay here. It takes literally a minute to walk to canyon lodge, which is the only perk for me other than the nice size of the condo.
We stayed in unit 110 in snowbird. The whole building is just plain old. Despite the fact that the kitchen has been updated and the owners have tried to put in some nice touches, you just can't update an old place without gutting it and redoing. There is no central heat in the living room but rather a noisy wall unit. It did warm the room up but was so antiquated it was uncomfortable to operate. The unit in the bedroom seemed to have been central heat but you couldn't turn it off ( at least I couldn't ) and could only turn it up or down. It was stifling in there.
The bathroom is very small and the shower is almost on top of the toilet. The shower seems to have been redone and is a nice size. No bathtub.
The walls are grimy and there are pretty worn rugs scattered about the condo in an attempt to provide warmth because the bare floors are just plain icy cold (and it was actually nice and warm outside when we were there. Spring skiing at its finest.
The management were more than accommodating when we checked in at 1849 as we had an oversized vehicle and they were trying to help us find a convenient place to park.
We never saw any management at the Snowbird condos. The office was always empty. I tried to call once to notify them of a broken cabinet door and got a recording.
Last but not least, the smell in the hallway leading to the unit almost did me in. I don't know what it was but it permeated into our condo and finally cleared up the day we left. It was awful.
For some less picky travelers, this might be an ideal choice. For $950 for three nights, I think it is grossly overpriced. Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning and trying to make the place look pretty. Hard to overcome some things like small and worn towels and sheets that don't fit the beds so keep coming off.
I think they try hard, but the condos just weren't for us.

Thank you for your feedback on Snowbird Unit 110 and we apologize for the issues during your stay. Sounds like you would be better off at our main property 1849 Condos. They are larger units with more space, and a building that was remodeled only a few years back. They also keep front desk hours from 8am-8pm including a 24hr onsite manager. Once again we appreciate your input and will make sure it is relayed to the owner. Hope to see you again!

We are planning an August visit, once again, to Mammoth Lakes. This is our 4th vacation to this unit in the 1849 condos. This particular unit is warm, cozy, yet has a little of a rustic feel, in the way of making you feel you are in a mountain cabin. The large windows look out into huge pine trees which give a feeling of being nestled in the pines. Everything one needs is available in this condo, including a pool and two jacuzzi's. The personnel is friendly and helpful. It is especially nice because it is located at the far side of the complex. In the summer, it is quiet, and off the beaten path, but near enough to be close to anything one may wish to do.

Great place, great location! Clean and great floor plan. Had 2 kids with us and they were happy too. We heard about this location from a friend. It was only a 5 minute easy walk for us and the kids to the canyon lodge. We went home for lunch!. Parking was also very easy. Hot tub is easy to get too, but bring some flip flops.

We stayed in newly remodeled condo unit 511. The owners did a wonderful job on re-furbishing the unit. Very nicely decorated with many nice features. New tile, new kitchen and carpeting , newly tiled bathrooms. The owners did not miss anything during the upgrades. The beds were comfortable. One minor issue the height of the master bedroom bed. The bed was extremely high to get into. I am 6' 2" and I had to climb up to get in bed. (perhaps shorten the legs on the bed. I would definitely stay in this unit again!

Underground parking and easy access with elevators or enclosed stairwells making moving in a breeze. We've stayed in several different units and have always had well stocked kitchens to cook up the the most amazing meals. One of the highlights for us is always having a fire every night, every patio is stacked high with fire wood. The best thing though is walking across the street to Canyon Lodge and hopping on Chair 16 which gets you headed to anywhere you want to go on the mountain. Chair 17 (school yard) is right there too, which is the kid's favorite chair and one of mine too when the upper slopes have low visibility. Chair 8 is right there too and always seems to be empty. It's an older slower chair, but it's well protected on those notorious windy days that frequent Mammoth Mountain. It also leads to some of best trees runs on the powder days. Ski school, rentals, bars and cafeteria are all right there at Canyon Lodge. You can't really get any closer to the heart of Mammoth than 1849, unless you sleep in your car in the parking lot, but then you'd miss the jacuzzi and sauna. There is also a great restaurant / bar right across the street called the Austria Hof, great happy hour and appetizers. Since we discovered 1849, 4 or 5 years ago, we haven't stayed anywhere else.

Awesome condo! 100 steps from condo to Canyon lodge. What more can you ask after a hard day skiing. Completely gutted and remodeled condo. Stainless steel appliances, comfy bed, great fireplace and all you need for your kitchen..want to go to the village? The gondola is right out your front door. Many trips I have taken to this condo and I will never change....
