Located near the gondola, there are a few restaurants nearby. The bed is comfortable, the room is spacious. We were just glad they were open in these COVID times. Plenty of outdoor seating for the bar and the restaurant (Petra's), although Petra's didn't take reservations, and had an hour & a half wait every time we tried. The bar outdoor seating was nice, and most tables had some kind of shade.

Conveniently located across the street from Toomey's, especially since our friends were staying at 8050. Cute exterior easy to find. The people at the front desk were great, and it felt clean, considering the pandemic. Free parking throughout our 3 night stay. Cons to consider: No AC but a fan is provided, no elevator, and the water pressure in the shower could be better. Overall, a great trip and I could stay here again.

Run down and over priced. Considering there is no microwave, no coffee maker, pool was closed. No maid service. Shower was built for 8 year old kids under 4’ tall. Water pressure was non existent. I will never stay in this dump again. City of Mammoth should condemn it. Waste of money. Spend a little bit more and stay at The Village Lodge.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We have had to make many changes due to both state and county COVID mandates and many of our amenities and services have been discontinued, like daily maid service (for the safety of our guests as well as our staff) or closed due to social distancing requirements. We'd love to have you give us a second chance as restrictions open up and we are able to offer all of our service again.

We were attracted to the Alpenhof because of the location - which is solid and pretty clear what gives this place positive reviews. But it goes seriously downhill from there. The first night we stayed in the main building and the room was OK. Our second night they put us in their adjacent building and there is only one word to describe it - disgusting. There are fireplaces in rooms that chokingly smell like soot. Old, dark, and smokey. But the real reason not to stay here is the staff is fairly rude and dishonest. Do not book directly on their website - it does not work properly (which they admit) or try to call them because if they don't answer they will tell you the phone lines where down (seriously). They charge hidden fees for room changes, even though its their issue. This is a mom-and-pop shop that will pocket your money because they can kind of place. The reason why people prefer to stay at reputable major chains. If you have to book here, do it thru a reputable travel site so you have someone who will deal with shady stuff like this.

I've always been high on this place. I've been coming here for 42 years. I love the staff and family who have put this together and have continued their service through the years. HOWEVER. This last visit was a disappointment. Service seemed to slack. On check in the girl did not give us the wireless password. No big deal. But when I called the front desk, FROM THE HOTEL PHONE he said , yeah come to the desk and I'll give it to you. REALLY!..So I had to go all the way to the front building just to get the info that he could have given me over the phone, & should have been given me on check in just to get my wifi. OH AND when I get back to the room, the password is only available for 2 devices and we had 4. REALLY! It's only 1/3 through the ski season and we are getting service like this. Not acceptable!
