Sierra Lodge is nice. Good location, staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean. It is outdated and the carpeting could use a good cleaning. The a/c for the room is disconnected and they have a portable unit and a standing fan to take it's place. The handicapped parking space is in an awkward spot and would not be easy to get in and out of. We did get a good deal through Booking.com and the noise level wasn't too bad. Would we stay again? I won't say no but I think we'll check out other places first before returning.

The Sierra Lodge was all set to receive a nice solid 3 star review. Then on check out day, as I'm leaving my room, I noticed housekeeping in the room across the hall. There were four housekeepers talked in the room, one apparently a supervisor with the clipboard, and everyone's mask was pulled down around their neck. Earlier when one of the housekeepers saw me oh, she pulled the mask over her mouth. But this time I guess I caught them off guard. I've been here for three days and overall what I saw was pretty good covid-19 compliance. The front desk staff were wearing masks, and there was a hand sanitizer dispenser in the parking garage. housekeeping staff are one of the most significant ways you could catch covid-19 in a hotel. You let your guard down in the room, and you don't tend to sanitize every surface.

Room was a good size and clean. Definitely not modern hotel but very, very comfortable. Appreciate the fridge, microwave and room a/c. Love that they can accommodate our dog. Also walking distance to Black Velvet coffee & Stellar cafe.

It’s all in the title. This place is a gem and will now be our go-to lodging for our stays in Mammoth. It’s simply a great place to sleep. Room was clean, mattress was incredibly comfortable and overall, it seems like this lodge spent money on what is important; a good place to rest. Thank you, Sierra Lodge.

Where to start!? Rusty saved my sanity, hands down the best service I’ve ever had. He helped me from the second I called to book until we arrived. I requested a balcony room with a tub (on the 4th weekend) and knew my chances were slim. He saved me the last king room and it was beautiful! The first night Rusty gave us a full rundown of everything we needed in the area; liquor store, restaurant, bakery, closest lake etc. Our first night was AMAZING! Came back to take a bath and their tub seemed unimpressive at first. 10 minutes of it being filled and I thought it wasn’t holding water. IT WAS! That tub was unexpectedly deep and sparkling clean! I could submerge my achy shoulders and feet. I was in love, 5 stars for the tub alone! The next day... husband and I woke up early to head to buckeye hot springs. We drove an hour and 20 from the hotel, hiked an 1.3 miles into the ravine and ten step from the springs my husband Scott fell, slid, and broke his leg!! After we secured an emergency rescue for my husband, it took 9 firefighters to lift him out of the canyon on a stretcher. Once at the top of the canyon we opted to let me drive him to hospital, an hour and a half away. I hauled ass to the hospital and once he was safely secure there, I went back to the hotel. I parked; not realizing or caring how I looked at this point. I fell out of the car and starting puking water. I’m covered in dirt, blood, hair frazzled, and Rusty sees me and asks if I’m ok. He probably thought I was drunk as it was the 4th, but out came the word vomit, real vomit, and tears from adrenaline. He calmed me down and made sure I was safe. Hours later when I went to get my husband, he showed me a parking spot to avoid most stairs. The next day he helped me with my luggage, provided more unexpected hospitality, and overall he was a guardian angel. This place will now be like family to me. During such a stressful situation these people showed true compassion and the real meaning of hospitality. Thank you Rusty and your fabulous team! We will be back when his leg heals!
