It sounds great - located at the base of the gondola, nicely furnished condos with views....but each condo is furnished by its owner or by the hotel and as a result the rooms are very inconsistent. Some are nicely furnished some are very bare-bones similarly the location of each condo in the building has a big effect on how close you actually are to the gondola and other amenities at the village - you may end up walking a quarter of a mile through hallways and up and down elevators just to get in and out of your building. Their marketing states that every condo has either of mountain or Village View but that's just not the case.

Response from Evan Marx, Guest Services / Front Office at The Village Lodge
Responded 2 weeks ago
Good Evening 08116ZJtimk, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your honest feedback about your recent stay at The Village Lodge at Mammoth. You are correct that each of our condos are owned by homeowners and they do play a part in the furnishings and decor of the units. We also realize that some units do require some refresh, and we are in the process of working with all of our owners to ensure that the highest quality furnishings and appliances are available consistently throughout our units. This process takes time, but we certainly hope to provide you with a more consistent product on your next visit and sincerely apologize that we missed the mark during your stay. Since the three lodges that make up our facility are spread out amongst The Village at Mammoth, you are correct that certain rooms are closer to the Village Gondola than others. However, all of our units surround the restaurants, shops and other businesses that make up The Village, so you're never too far away from the action. We regret the time it took to get in and out of your unit; please let us know if you would prefer a room closer to the elevators or in a certain location of The Village for your next visit and we will do everything in our power to accommodate this request. Lastly, I am very sorry that you found our marketing to emphasize mountain or Village views. Given our unique location at the bottom of Mammoth Mountain, while some units do have mountain views, unfortunately not every one has this. Likewise, given that each building faces both sides, there will be some units that face The Village and others that face outwards. I will be sure to check on all of marketing channels, both through Mammoth Mountain and through our third party partners, to ensure that we remain transparent and genuine about the views that are available from our units. Please know that your feedback goes a long way in ensuring that we provide the best quality experience for our guests, and I will be sharing this with my management team to make sure we improve on these areas moving forward. If you have any additional feedback to provide, feel free to reach out to me directly at emarx@mammothresorts.com and I would be delighted to assist with this or any future reservations that you wish to make with us here at The Village Lodge at Mammoth. Warmest Regards, -Evan Marx- Front Office Manager The Village Lodge at Mammoth

Hotel's Favorite
You simply can't find a better place to stay in Mammoth. The convenience of the Village, and the gondola just steps away from the lobby... The Village Lodge has won me over and become my favorite place to stay in Mammoth! Our room was super nice and comfy, and again, you can't beat the location!

Hello Rainnwoods, Thank you so much for your stellar review of the Village Lodge! I am so glad we were able to exceed your expectations and give you the best experience Mammoth has to offer. Don't forget on your future stays with us, you can request the Lincoln House in advance to keep you steps away from the gondola. Thank you again for your kind comments, and we look forward to hosting you in the near future! Warm regards, Tom Smith General Manager

Booking through the property management company Five Star Lodging is not the same as booking through The Village directly. Look at these fines! There's no bedding on the beds, and they told us to bring our own blankets. If I had booked through the The Village directly this wouldn't be the case. The Village rooms have bedding and they don't have this list of fines! When you book directly through the village it’s like staying in an actual four-star hotel, but when you book through Five Star Lodging you get none of the hotel services and you get these fines. I feel like an unwelcome guest, and there wasn’t even a price difference. And look what happens if you open their bedding, which they keep stored in the closet so you have no closet space.

My family decided to make a day trip to Mammoth for skiing. Unfortunately, upon our departure we had car trouble and needed to leave our vehicle at a local mechanic; with no rental options or other transit available to get us home, we were stranded. After searching, The Village was the only accommodating lodging. Lucky for us, they were attentive, and kept our safety as a number one priority. Even with modifications and despite the circumstances, our stay was wonderful — truly the silver lining to an otherwise challenging situation. In addition to the obvious luxury accommodations and great location, what really stood out at The Village was the staff. Thank you to Michelle, Evan and Kayla for making sure my family felt safe and cared for during this unique experience. Their professionalism, kindness and warm disposition made all the difference and we are truly grateful that they were the people working during our time at The Village. Absolutely the best and most friendly customer service. We would certainly recommend staying here and we will be back (hopefully, under better circumstances)!

Greetings Diana, Wow, we are so touched by your kind and gracious review, particularly under the very difficult circumstances you and your family dealt with! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Village Lodge on TripAdvisor, and for thinking of us during your time of need. We know how challenging traveling can be right now, so I'm extremely happy to see that you saw just how much of a priority we put on your safety and wellbeing. I am extremely privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside Kayla and Michelle who are true hospitality professionals through and through. I couldn't agree more that their warmth and professionalism truly elevates the Village Lodge experience for our guests, and am very happy that you had the opportunity to experience their genuine hospitality first hand. While we wish the circumstances that brought you to The Village Lodge were different, we couldn't be happier that our paths crossed, and can't wait to welcome you back to Mammoth Lakes on your next visit. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me personally if there's anything that I can do to make you next stay as wonderful as the last! Warmest Regards, -Evan Marx- Front Office Manager The Village Lodge at Mammoth

I took my 2 children away for 2 nights before I met my husband at a cabin the night before Thanksgiving. We couldn't have been more pleased with the staff and the room. It was clean and spacious. We has a one bedroom for my daughter and me and the pullout couch for my son. The location is great for the red line to the mountain for skiing and to village for restaurants and shops. Everyone is being very cautious and strict about COVID safety. Masks are required outside everywhere and inside at all locations. A special thank you to Kayla at the front desk who went out of her way to be hospitable and gracious to me in helping with an issue I was having with my special needs' son. She couldn't have been more kind to a mom who was stressed about being alone and dealing with things that can come up expectedly. Her calm manner, ability to problem solve and smile will be remembered by this mom! We plan on returning. Thank you Kayla and staff at The Village Lodge- service and kindness at its best during a pandemic!!!!
