This is a little gem of a place. The visitors who come to St Marys are often primarily focused on a trip to Cumberland Island. You can stay in a conventional "modern chain" hotel, as part of your trip to Cumberland or to go fishing, etc,, OR you can stay at the century-old Riverview Hotel which is right on the...

Bugs and smokers and a lumpy bed (we got a deluxe room). A breakfast right out of the Animal House movie. My wife commented that the last time the place was really cleaned was when it got historical status. We think that was in 1963. Pass. It was a dump.

I have stayed at the hotel numerous time in the last 15 yrs. and have always enjoyed each visit. The hotel is very unique in that each room is different and being right on the water and only a ferry ride away from Cumberland Island makes this hotel a great place to stay. The restaurant and bar are great places...

If you want cookie cutter decor and flawless perfection, go stay at a chain hotel on the highway. This quaint, quirky gem is for people who appreciate history, wonder, warm hospitality, fun, and convenience. We love to stay here! The owners and staff make you feel at home and with family. Family with all the imperfections. And all the comfort!...

On a recent trip to visit family we stayed at this hotel. From the moment I was greeted at the door by 2 dogs Mr. Binkerman and Coco I felt right at home. The gentleman behind the desk greeted us and told a quick story about our room. We stayed in Rolf's room and if you love Georgia football stay...

Have stayed here several times. Room remodeling adds additional ambiance without disturbing old time feel. Owners are nice couple and sociable with their guests. Still have a little ways to go to perfection. Need towel upgrades and internet modernization but these are minor nuisance things.

My husband and I stayed at the Riverview because of its convenience to the ferry to Cumberland Island (just across the street). We were on a bicycling trip and wanted to be close by. Little did I know how much I would enjoy my stay there. The owner was exceptional in her hospitality and generosity towards us, storing our bicycles,...

Choose this place based on other reviews. It delivered as promised. Very reasonable prices, interesting rooms, and so convenient for the ferry. It was wonderful to just walk across the street for the morning ferry to Cumberland Island. Owners were friendly. Other members of our group called the hotel "darling". The rooms are all different so check out their floorplan...

I so agree with the review "charming to seedy." For $120 per room one would expect more than ratty furniture, no kleenex or shampoo or hair dryer in the bathrooms, cracked tiles etc. Correct: the staff/owners do not care. While they were not surly or rude, they weren't cheery or helpful either. Oh, expect space heaters if it is cold...

If you come expecting much more than a bare bones lodging experience, you'll be disappointed. If you marvel at the location and the novelty of staying at such an old and interesting building, and you can sleep through happy sounds, traffic noises and really rough and noisy air conditioning units pumping out for all they are worth....well, you might actually...
