#1 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in St. Marys
Travelers' Choice
Spencer House Inn, built in 1872, is located in the heart of the St. Marys Historic District, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, museums and the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore. We can make your ferry reservation and pack a picnic lunch for you as you head off for your adventure on a beautiful, undeveloped and pristine barrier island - the beach was voted "one of the best wild beaches" by National Geographic Traveler magazine. You'll enjoy relaxing in the cypress rockers on the Inn's verandahs. Walk to the waterfront park, fishing pier and boat ramp. Take a leisurely stroll around our historic village. There are 2 championship golf courses nearby. Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge is 45 minutes away. The beaches of Jekyll, St. Simons and Amelia Island are a short drive from our St. Marys, Georgia bed and breakfast.

Excellent accommodations with friendly, attentive service. We took advantage of the on-site Tesla charging station, extra-cost, but reasonably priced amenities, a floral arrangement and cheese and fruit tray, and daily box lunches for our outings to Cumberland National Seashore and Okefenokee Swamp. We also appreciated the Inn's Covid prevention policies. We were sufficiently impressed to book a return for Thanksgiving with relatives.

(For some reason TripAdvisor won’t allow me to change the Month Visited to March 2021 - we visited here last week). We so enjoyed our stay at Spencer House. But the experience started when we made the reservation - with help given on where to rent bikes, and offering to pack us a picnic for our Cumberland Island trip. Staying in Room 201 was a great idea - it was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast had so many offers and was really good. And the picnic hit the spot. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting St. Mary’s - especially if you are planning to take the ferry to Cumberland Island. Terri and Mary made sure our trip was perfect!

My wife and I took the advice of good friends and travelled to St. Mary, Georgia in order to visit Cumberland Island for our first "post-vaccination" trip. What a wonderful experience!. When we first arrived we were greeted by our host Mary who guided us to our room and helped us instantly feel at home. Our room on the front of the Inn was wonderful, very comfortable and clean. Over the next few days Mary guided us through a Cumberland Island Tour, recommended great restaurants, and arranged for tours of St. Mary's and a museum. We highly recommend the Spencer Inn, it's wonderful breakfast, and the marvelous Mary.

Room Tip: We liked our room on the front of the hotel so that we could see the main street outside our window.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Spencer House ! Mary , the owner , and Holly are so accommodating to the guests . Greeting everyone by name , they can answer all your questions about the area . My partner, an ex Navy Seal, wanted to explore the submarine museum but it was closed. Holly and Mary got a hold of the manager there...and she met us for a private tour . Was so very very special . The Inn is very tastefully decorated , quiet , and respectful to COVID guidelines. The breakfast was absolutely tasty! The Inn is within walking distance to restaurants, bay front, and even heard good live music at a couple of outdoor patios. Will definitely return! Thanks Mary and Holly !
