The York River Inn Bed & Breakfast is situated on a high bluff overlooking the York River in a colonial-style building. It is the only waterfront bed and breakfast in the Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg area. The York River Inn Bed & Breakfast is the ideal location for a relaxing visit in historic Yorktown, Virginia. The York River Inn B & B is also a delightful place to enjoy the historic areas of Yorktown and Williamsburg. Gracious settings, generous amenities, and knowledgeable host create a memorable experience rather than just a night away from home. All three guestrooms are filled with standard amenities enhanced by many charming and useful additions--the innkeeper's extensive travel and hospitality career have contributed to his skill at providing the finest accommodations possible. The common area includes a sofa and comfortable chairs, where you can browse through piles of current magazines. The refrigerator is fully stocked for guests. The innkeeper has a vast selection of Virginia books, maps and extensive materials on travel from all over the US and the world. You are welcome to enjoy the shared deck with deck chairs, as well as the cookies and treats always set out on the dining room table. A gourmet breakfast served in the elegant antiques-filled dining area overlooking the river is a highlight of the experience provided at the York River Inn. The Inn is only a short distance from the colonial area and other attractions of Yorktown and is only 15 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg by the way of the scenic Colonial Parkway. The local area is filled with historic, cultural, and entertainment activities without the stress of a busy crowded town. In Yorktown itself are two major historical attractions celebrating the winning of American independence October 19,1781 when George Washington accepted the surrender of the British under Lord Cornwallis, an event commemorated by the 1881 victory monument just down river from the York River Inn.

The York River Inn Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful, colonial-style home. We had a clean room and bathroom with a gorgeous view. We even had snow on our visit. Bill, the inn keeper and owner is a true walking encyclopedia of history. His knowledge is impressive. Bill made a delicious breakfast, especially the Posset!!! We look forward in returning one day soon!!

What a nice thing to hear especially since I've been shut down since March 1! I miss my guests--and folks like you make what I do a pleasure! During the off-time, due to the world emergency, I'm cooking up a storm, so when you return I'll have a lot of new dishes to share! Thanks for your compliment--and I look forward to your return in better days to come!

Stayed for two nights in the river view room in December to enjoy the Christmas festivities in Yorktown. The inn is charming with colonial decor and the inn keeper's extensive collection of books and maps. The inn keeper, Bill, made the stay so enjoyable. He is so knowledgeable about the area and history in general. He is also an amazing cook. The breakfasts were delicious and unique. I will be returning for a second stay.

I stayed here for 5 nights back in July while on vacation from the uk with my daughter. Perfectly placed for visits to the historic triangle. Bill is a fantastic host with a view on everything and a source of information on everything from A to Z. The breakfasts were sublime and we were delighted that Bill made us Staffordshire oatcakes one morning to pay homage to where we come from! Possibly the first time they have ever been made in the states! Overall a brilliant place to stay and we would definitely stay again if we return to the area. PS Bills recommendation about the pub was spot on re where to eat. Crab cakes to die for

Bill is the best guide for this area hands down. The conversations around the breakfast table are like taking a crash coarse on all the history you can soak up. Talking to Bill before you set out on your day is an absolute must. The breakfast will be top notch with much attention to detail. If you love books, history and a very gracious host, do not miss this place!

We stayed two nights in the Washington Suite for our anniversary. It's a beautifully appointed and a spacious room with sitting area and view of the river and bridge. The sunsets were spectacular. My husband, a history major, so enjoyed all the books and prints in the room. I enjoyed the beautiful antiques, the bidet and whirlpool tub. Also, the fresh flowers in the room from Bill's gardens around the inn. Watching all the various birds and humming birds that visited his outside deck for seed and nectar was a pleasure. Bill is a fabulous host. A native Virginian, he is very knowledgeable about so many things. He is a master chef and baker. The breakfasts were extraordinary with amazing attention to detail. Sunday morning we were served baked fresh pineapple with maraschino cherries. They were the best maraschino cherries I've ever tasted. Bill humbly explained he makes the cherries himself. Some of the other delights were scotch eggs, warm coconut custard and Classic French Brandade de Morue (codfish). He also provided homemade sweet baked treats through out the day that were delightful. The location was absolutely perfect...private on the bluff yet close to everything. There was a private beach within walking distance. Also, the river walk with shops, restaurants and historic sites. We chose to drive to the public parking (3 minutes) simply because of the hot weather. There is also a free trolley, it stops running at 5pm. We absolutely highly recommend York River Inn. We hope to return in the fall. Thank you for your gracious hospitality!

Our stays at Bill's Inn have been a very enjoyable time. We could not do everything we wanted to do in the Upper Peninsula in 2017, so we returned in 2018 to complete our mission. Old Bill Cole is a Merry Old Soul, and a merry old knowledgeable soul is he...he provides a first class experience for Lodgers seeking American and Virginia history. Do not miss Riverwalk and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You confirm what I tell potential guests in advance all the time---there's so much to see around here that a two- or three-day stay hardly scrapes the surface of all the things we have! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with me---and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is a real treasure to be enjoyed and savored. Please come again to see the other things you still have missed!

We stayed in the Washington Suite for two nights for our honeymoon. This room was very large and comfortable with a king bed and various couches and rocking chairs, and the bathroom well-equipped with a toilet/bidet and jacuzzi bathtub. The inn contained a sizable library of history books and was decorated with original maps of the region and historical posters of the Revolutionary period. Breakfast was exceptional, with a mixture of unique, hearty dishes and classics elevated by little personal touches above standard fare. The food was served with interesting stories about history and cooking technique. The innkeeper, Bill, was a warm personality who took time to chat with us about history and travel. He was knowledgeable about the area, helping us plan activities from museums to parks, and showed us birds or dolphins from the spectacular river view when they appeared. The great location in Yorktown (near the Riverwalk Landing), cozy and restful ambience, and top notch food were everything we could ask for.

My husband and I had a two-night stay in August. We were greeted by a note where the host apologized in case he was late returning for the day, with the keys, and directions. We had just gotten in when he arrived. We immediately felt welcomed and he showed us around the home and grounds. He had thought of everything for the traveler - water, bathroom amenities, fans, heater, map of Yorktown, suggestions for where to go... The list goes on. Breakfast was a delight and we stayed at the table for a long time listening to stories and communicating with Bill. The Inn is in a perfect location for visiting Yorktown. I highly recommend this inn.

Thanks very much for your very kind words! Sometimes I worry that I make people stay at the table too long listening to my stories, so you have made me a little more comfortable when they do! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!
