This place is absolutely everything you'd want from a bed and breakfast and then some -- the innkeepers are charming and share a special bond with the house and the area is steeped in history. Our room was clean, comfortable, tasteful. The grounds are stunning. And the breakfasts were far and away the best I've ever had in an inn or hotel. We were so well looked after and could have easily stayed around the breakfast table til lunchtime hearing the stories -- the innkeepers are the essence of hospitality. Would love to book a longer trip in the future.

This Inn could be renamed as "Hospitality Central". David and Phil do everything possible to provide their guests all that is needed for a welcoming visit to their home. We couldn't make the 5:00pm Wine and Cheese event, but as promised, it was left out for us in the kitchen with instructions to "make yourself at home". The house is open and inviting for guests to relax and enjoy books, family artifacts, or an interesting and humorous conversation with Phil or David. From sharing breakfast with neighbors who wanted to bring their out of town guests to this delicious breakfast, to the gracious hospitality of a friend of the family, who obtained last minute free tickets for us to a local event, we left our visit that weekend feeling renewed, rested, and ready to plan our next trip to the Hornsby House Inn. The Inn is also perfectly located in walking distance of the Watermen's Museum, restaurants and shopping facilities, all while enjoying the view of the York River. Although mentioned last, certainly not least, we are throughly enjoying our copy of Mrs. Hornsby's Cookbook!

Outstanding six-star place (way over 5!) to stay and relax and meet the two brothers, David and Phil, who grew up there. The breakfasts were delicious and filling and they cooked for us and shared their stories. Overlooking the water and Victory monument, the house is beautifully restored with five rooms for guests. We stayed in the Magnolia room on the third room, airy and light with lots of room and a very comfortable bed. Easy wide stairs. Quiet air-conditioning and everything we needed---even a small refrigerator. When we did need something, everyone was helpful and we were told to make ourselves at home and even allowed in the kitchen. We felt at home in this warm, loving house filled with family memories. And it was great to stroll through old Yorktown and walk to dinner at the waterfront. Very peaceful and our choice over Williamsburg. If you want you can drive 20 minutes along the beautiful Colonial Parkway and visit Williamsburg. However this is quiet and lovely and friendly and I will stay here every time I come back to this area. Recommend staying at least 2 nights but we wanted to stay longer.

We visited the Hornsby House for our anniversary in August. This B&B is either the best we've stayed in, or is tied for first with Mansfield Plantation in Plantersville, SC. David is a magnificent host, and actually grew up in the house. A highlight is David sharing stories of the house and growing up in Yorktown over breakfast. Not to be missed. His breakfasts are delightful. The whole house is charming, and has a recent venue location added to the back yard for wedding and such. This would be a spectacular place to have a wedding party. The rooms are beautiful, and comfortable, with all of the details anyone could want. Meticulously clean and nicely decorated. The house is an easy walk down to the waterfront, where shops, restaurants, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, schooner rides, and the beach await. The local free trolley bus runs a loop through town and stops right out front if you don't want to walk. For those into Revolutionary War history, the house faces the battlefield, and would have been on the front line of incoming Patriot & French cannon fire were it in place during the Revolution. It is two doors down from the famous Nelson house that was repeatedly hit by cannon fire during that seige. This location is also convenient to Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and surrounding areas. So, if you are planning a getaway trip, this is a wonderful, quiet, and convenient destination.

This is a lovely place with many personal touches and loads of history, a house that was a family home to the current innkeepers. David and Phil were very accommodating and the breakfast was delicious with lots of offerings and variety. Our room was large and well appointed. I would love to go back again.
