We spend one night at the Almo Inn (Tombstone room) and enjoyed our stay. Nice and clean accommodations very close to both the National preserve and state park entrances. Dining amenities are very limited, so we brought our own food for dinner and breakfast. Also enjoyed having dessert on the rear patio looking at the mountains. The microwave oven in the kitchen was sporadic and the smoke detector in the bedroom went off for no reason, but overall a great place to stay!

We were just passing through on a 14 day trip but what a nice surprise this place was. Perfect location for a City of Rocks visit and nice and quiet. My favorite part was the small touches such as books you can read and the home like atmosphere. Of our entire busy trip of hikes and activities, sitting on the back porch here with coffee and a book of poems about mountains I found inside wrapped up in a blanket looking at the mountains in the distance remains one of my highlights. We appreciated them accommodating our late arrival too! It was a true getaway!

This place is darling! Only eleven rooms and a handful of cabins. The rooms are spacious, cute and mostly clean. Our room had two beds and a couch that was used as a bed. I LOVE the private deck out the back door. So cozy! There is plenty of parking and a couple little stores within walking distance. The steak house is not open anymore so plan on bringing your own food or getting pizza at the Rock City store. They close at 8:00 p.m. though so plan ahead. The room has a small kitchen sink, a small fridge, a microwave, some plates, mugs, glasses and eating utensils but nothing to cook on or with. There is no television and no phone service. They have WI-FI but it did not work the entire weekend we spent there. Occasionally it would connect long enough to receive a text that was sent hours earlier but we couldn't text out or make a phone call the entire time. So no T.V. and no phone service. Would make an amazing honeymoon or couples getaway. NO DISTRACTIONS! The bathroom was nice and the big bathtub was a plus. Big enough for two to sit comfortably. We had no hot water one night so that was frustrating. The beds were NOT comfortable and the sheets and comforters were dirty. One had blood stains and one had some kind of frosting or glaze all over it. ICK! Glad we brought our own blankets!! Their power source is low. My phone only charged 37% overnight with my fast charging charger. But because there was no service I was only able to use it to check the time and to take pictures anyway. If you're doing business and need internet, come prepared with your own Wi-Fi. It's a great place to stay if you're wanting to get away from the real world. The town is so quaint and quiet and perfect and the City of Rocks is awesome!

This is really a great place to stay when visiting Castle Rock/City of Rocks. Our room was spacious -- it had a bedroom and a seperate kitchen/den area, as well as a large bathroom. There was good water pressure in the shower and the towels were nice, and everything was clean. Coffee is provided, as well as a microwave and fridge. But the best part about the Almo Inn was the room came with a back porch where we could watch the sun go down and the stars come out. As well as a front porch to watch the sun come up. The only negative is that the wifi doesn't work welll. Note that your cell phone is unlikely to work, however they provide a local phone so you can contact folks in an emergency or call the local establishments. So just come here to relax, and you will love every minute of it.

Almo in is in a beautiful REMOTE location. The amenities were nice and the room was clean. My only complain is the steak house that is promoted to be right next door was CLOSED. We did not go down there with food since we assumed we could purchase 3 meals right next door. We were never told about this and I saw nothing about this on the website. The only other option in town is Rock city which is Pizza. Also the bed was very uncomfortable in the Durango Cabin, their were not extra linens or anyone on site to ask for more. Wifi was rough and only worked half of the time.
