Being a member of Historic Hotels of America shouldn't mean that your establishment should wait 20 years between updating the bathrooms, climate control, restaurants and furniture. This 'lady' deserves better as do her guests. Reasonably priced, well-staffed, and in a good location, this property needs investment to be a destination hotel in a city sorely lacking in higher end accommodation.... More

The Camino Real is a historic, old, grand hotel in the only area of downtown in which you would want to stay. The best restaurants, museums, and attractions are right there. Unfortunately the hotel, though beautiful, greatly disappoints. No assistance with the bags was the first indicator. The room was ok. No super clean. Ice was not available on our... More

We stayed here passing through for one evening, so we could see the famous Dome (tiffany dome) in the bar areas. The rooms were a bit dated, but quite spacious. We had a good night's sleep and enjoyed some of the architecture of the place. Based on others' comments, I was surprised that we enjoyed ourselves so much. The internet... More

My husband and I checked in for two nights at Camino Real during the Valentine’s Day weekend. We arrived and noted that the pictures that the hotel has posted on their website did not match the reality of the less than stellar accommodations. First, the suite was subpar with its old, not antique or well-maintained shabby chic, furniture and we... More

I took my son to a show at Tricky Falls just across the street. I didn't expect much after the reviews but I thought it was a nice hotel. The bar area is circular and has a large Tiffany stained glass dome above it. It is Mexican-owned. The staff was pleasant and the cost was $80 per room. Breakfast was... More

I checked in for three nights at Camino Real. I arrived at night and tried to use the internet, but it was not working. I thought it might be a temporary problem. Next day I woke up and tried to use the internet again, but it was still not working. I then decided I wanted to cancel my other two... More

The location of the hotel is good, near the museums, convention center and local shopping. The first person we encounter at front desk was very unfriendly, the staff overall is very unprofessional and unwelcoming, you feel that they don't want to serve you. Please look at the bar rotunda and decor, beautiful stain glass and gold. The parking is a... More

Love this hotel! First it is absolutely beautiful as a historic building. Make sure you visit the bar and dining room which is completely decked out in tiffany glass windows and dome. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. My room has a great view of downtown and Mexico. It is in old town and close to everything. Service was... More
