“…it is a capital enterprise located in a capital building…and I trust will prove a capital success…” These words, we lovingly refer to as the first Capital Idea, inspired the birth of a hotel that has remained Little Rock’s “front porch” for 140 years. Since the 1876 debut many other Capital Ideas have found their way into the hotel through numerous renovations and the most recent full restoration completed in 2007. The culmination is the uncompromising comfort and convenience of a modern luxury hotel without any compromise of its rare historic character. The inspiration for our customer service is our dedication to personal attention and care often found when visiting friends and family. Instead of rehearsed scenarios, guests are personally greeted, welcomed, and immersed in an approach to service we call Southern Comfortable. Not surprisingly, “Be Huggable” is regarded as the North Star of our core values.
This hotel is what dreams are made of. The structure is old enough to be romantic or business like and updated to take the old away. The Capital keeps many of their employees for a long time and many can remember us by name. The service is 1sr class. The main restaurant is closed, but you can still get a meal and drink from the beautiful bar.

I wish we had more than one night at this classy, elegant, and stately hotel located within walking distance of the Clinton Presidential Library. We had never been to Little Rock and were just passing through, but now we'll look for an excuse to return. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Regarding space, one could park a car in the elevator--nice given the cramped little ones we are accustomed to negotiating with luggage and strangers. But it's often breakfast at a hotel that leaves the last impression. Ours at One Eleven was delicious and the service was outstanding.

The second, and last time, we will stay at the Capital Hotel. Check in is advertised at 3:00 p.m. After driving six hours from Nashville last Thursday and arriving at 3:15 p.m., we waited in the lobby for an hour and a half for our room to be ready. We told the front desk we had an event to get to, and we were in our room at 4:45 p.m. Ridiculous. Our Capital King room and bathroom were HUGE, that's about all I can say. The room and the bathroom were out of a 1980's feature article on a tired country club. The hotel is SORELY in need of a refresh. Not just in design but in lighting, amenities, and plugs that fit travelers needs in the 21st C. In our gigantic room, there was exactly one multiplug outlet on top of the desk next to one side of the bed. Period. Where do you plug in the hair dryer (the single plug in the bathroom is so old that it can't support the weight of the dryer plug), your 2 laptops, 2 Kindles, 2 cell phones, etc. Two of the three days we were there, our room had not been cleaned when we returned around 4:00 p.m. Food in the restaurant is ridiculously expensive. What killed us is that we paid $380 for three of our nights, and $304 for the other for this experience, in LITTLE ROCK!! We couldn't get in for bfast our last morning so we walked across the street to the Marriott. Bright, light, modern amenities, what a breath of fresh air. Capital Hotel needs to make a MAJOR investment in this historic gem or reduce their prices significantly. Huge disappointment. …

This was our first time in this Little Rock stalwart in downtown. Although the building is very traditional and formal with a big marble lobby, grand staircases and heavy furniture, the room was comfortable, large and boasting a big bathroom — even if screams a bit of grandparents’ country club vibe. But it’s close to the restored downtown district with glorious old brick buildings transformed into shops and services, as well as the expansive Clinton library, and good restaurants. The bar is a gathering place for all Little Rock so a bit crowded and difficult to access; breakfast is expensive. But if you want a taste of the old traditional ways in the Soutv, this place won’t disappoint.

This is one of my favorite hotels in the country. It's hard to describe , but it is truly one of the last old school luxury hotels where they make you feel at home. From Matt the manager to the other ladies at the front desk to the bartenders to the valets, the service is impeccable. As are the rooms. I can afford to stay pretty much where I want, and I'll take the Capital over the Ritz any day of the week.

A classic hotel ambiance with all the modern amenities one expects of a premium boutique hotel. The restaurants are very good and the food of high quality. Must try the baked, sweet pecans which is a local favourite. Staff is wonderful and attentive.

For 13 years I have been going to this hotel. Very disappointed by the welcome of this hotel, that does not take into account the fidelity of its customers. The rooms have not the same quality at all. I will not go there anymore, as the employees seem to change and do not behave correctly.

Dear kellyeF1892OG, Thank you for acknowledging our friendly staff even though you were not satisfied with your overall experience. I'm sorry for any confusion regarding your bill. Some of the charges incurred were due to late cancellations on your third-party reservations that were not refundable. We have been in contact with you regarding the issue and we are at your service should you wish to revisit the subject. Your feedback helps us improve our communications, so we hope to host you again. Best, Gregory Pirkle General Manager

This is a lovely grand dame of a hotel with beautiful lobby areas, decent restaurants, an efficient elevator, sizable rooms, and good beds, pillows and bed/bath linens. I would probably stay here again. Having said that, guests bothered by the characteristics of older hotels, e.g., occasional uneven water pressure and room lighting and irascible drapery draw ropes, might prefer more modern lodging. This hotel could easily improve by making sure intended toiletries are provided, bottled water replenished, and some level of concierge service at hand.
