This was our second visit to Ole Mink Farm and once again, it was incredible. Husband and I needed a peaceful getaway and booked a cabin there. The property is clean and well kept, the accommodations were spotless and Debbie, the owner could not be more accommodating, ensuring our stay was memorable. I highly recommend Old Mink Farm.
We recently celebrated a birthday at one of Ole Mink's cabins. The setting was breath taking---trees and mountains in every direction. The cabin has been recently renovated and features a huge fireplace, a generous sized kitchen, a luxury bathroom with a walk-in shower, comfortable baseboard heating, and a screened in porch. Wifi and cable tv reception was excellent. Plenty of free firewood was provided . The furniture was comfortable and the beds were excellent. But the best part is the Irons family itself. So friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay perfect.
We just returned from our yearly (28th anniversary/visit) to the Ole Mink Farm cabins. As always, the cabin was beautifully decorated, clean, and stocked with the necessities. We always enjoy using the fireplace since we do not have one at home, and Mike always keeps us very well stocked in wood so that we can enjoy the ambiance of the wood burning fireplace. We cannot say enough about how accommodating the Irons family is in making our stay special. Walking into the cabin and seeing the personalized welcome sign and cookies always makes me feel so comfortable and at home. We love our little peaceful mountain getaway and look forward to our future visits. A true gem in the Catoctin Mountains.
We are a family of four who has enjoyed Ole Mink Farm for more than 10 years, starting in the and moving up to the pet friendly 2 bedroom cottages. Our last stay was in the Quiet Oak. The Irons family goes out of their way to ensure a great visit. We were there during a snow storm and they ensured the firewood was freshly stocked ahead of time, and were right on top of plowing that night. The following morning they plowed the road again, and even snowblowed and shoveled the front and back entrances to the cabin. The cabins are well equipped and comfortable. Each cabin is unique and we stay in awe at the talents of the Irons family in building them. Catoctin Mountain Park is close by, but honestly, we love just walking the trails at the campground - we have always been the only ones on the trails when we go which is a great way for us to enjoy our time together. The game room is always fun, and I always enjoy just walking around the campground on the morning dog walks, enjoying the views the summer campers get to enjoy from their campers. Our dog has enjoyed the dog play yard every year, and our kids the playground, despite being a bit old for it now- but it's become tradition.…
We had a wonderful time during our weekend getaway. Your hospitality went beyond our expectations. Upon arrival there were leaves 🍁 all over the place however the leaf blower was used to clean them up in a jiffy. All we wanted was to enjoy the weekend with clean fresh air and peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The cottage up on the hill was everything and more than we expected. Stocked with all the amenities you need in a kitchen including a microwave, coffee maker and a toaster. When I needed a cup of coffee and I could not get the coffee machine to work I brought it to your attention and you immediately furnished me a new machine totally making my day. We will visit again.
I just got our A+ guest review from Ole Mink for the sixth year in a row, and they asked me to leave a review, so I will. As always, the cabin and amenities were lovely. However, we were disappointed to be treated like common criminals over a misunderstanding after six years of loyal visits every fall. The only complaint we can legitimately make about the facilities is that our trash hadn't been emptied when we checked out and was overflowing for our visit. We come to the cabins annually to visit Lawyer's Winterbrook Farm and this year my son met up with a friend there. They wanted to come back and play while the little kids napped, and being a busy mom, I had missed the rule about no visitors. We let them buzz through the gate on our pass, then when the gate wouldn't raise for us, were informed that visitors aren't allowed without "registering." I said no problem and we were asked to pull our car around, where someone on staff was waiting for us as if we might flee the scene!--when literally the only place to go was...to our cabin. We "registered" our friend and were told sternly that they had to be "out in an hour" or a $5 fee would be assessed. We assured the owner that they were leaving after the boys played a bit, and our friends left not long after (amidst us being mortified at having to explain what kind of disruption their visit had caused and that they must GET OUT SOON). In the morning, when my husband went to check out, he was asked if we had an overnight guest, and truthfully said we did not. "Well, there was a car in your driveway when we drove by this morning." We were super turned off they had literally sent surveillance to check on us, and could only surmise that either they were just lying or that in the five minutes our friends in a second cabin dropped something off to us on their way out, they had seen their car. In any case, they didn't believe us and we were levied a $10 overnight guest fee. $5, $10, whatever, I just have no patience in 2021 for being treated this way. This place went from feeling like a nice, relaxing family place to feeling like a police state. We've been loyal, polite, clean customers for years and I would think the benefit of the doubt would be warranted here. I hope the $10 was worth losing a loyal returning family over. We've already found a nice house to rent for next year where we won't be treated like we're on a secure military base. As an FYI, I checked Yelp and we aren't the only folks who have had issues like this--there are other instances there. So if you're a family or anyone else looking for flexibility or freedom, this may not be the place to you, and you may want to look into those reviews as well.…
We have a new tradition. Camping in the Phenix cabin for my mom's birthday. Cooking and sitting by a campfire take as us back to our childhoods. This place is well run and peaceful. It's close to home and in a historical and beautiful location. I can't wait to return.
We absolutely adored our stay at Ole Mink farm. The employees were so kind and helpful, the atmosphere was quiet and secluded, beautiful grounds, and the playground and saturday snack truck was a huge plus! Will stay here again!
I haven't been camping in awhile so I booked a cabinette for myself and my 2 young boys. We had such a wonderful time! The kids didn't want to leave! The office staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the cabins and bath house were spotless. They do a great job of balancing the space to enjoy the outdoors while still having amenities to entertain the kids. Overall the campground was well maintained and peaceful and the other guests were friendly. The playground had newer climbing structures, slides and swings and their was an ADA accessible swing. The pool was also ADA accessible, including a wheel chair ramp entry. The sides of the pool were sloped so the kids could slide in, and it ranged from 1.5'-6' which was great for my youngest son. Overall we had a fabulous time and will definitely be going back!!…
The facilities are clean and well stocked. The front desk staff was very nice and professional. A must see! We are definitely coming back! Cunningham falls state park is near by and there is an orchard farm near by. You can pick your own blueberries.
