Nestled in the heart of New York, the Martinique New York On Broadway, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, wins guests over with its central location and historical charm. Visitors consistently commend the service for its friendliness and cleanliness, though some have faced challenges with efficiency.
While the rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort and modern touches, opinions vary on size and noise levels. The stylish atmosphere, especially noted in the chic lobby and hotel bar, adds to the appeal, although the mandatory resort fees have drawn criticism for lacking value.

I’ve been meaning to leave a review after staying here for a week in October, but what a brilliant hotel. Fantastic location next to the Empire State, Macy’s and Madison Square Garden just up the road and Times Square a short walk up the road. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and check in was very easy. I’d read a lot of reviews from people complaint about the rooms size and I’m not quite sure what they were complaining about. We had a King room with a very spacious bed, large tv and modern shower room. We heard no noise from the rooms adjacent either which I know other reviews picked up on. You pay the $40 odd a day tax when you leave, and you can spend this money in the hotel for coffee, food etc. We did have a breakfast in the grill place which seemed a little overpriced for what we got and had to pay gratuity as well as a tip, which as a Brit seemed a little odd, but I know tipping culture in the US is very different. Overall if you want a good hotel in a safe location, close to all of New York’s delights I would throughly recommend the Martinique and if we return in the future, we will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel close to times square we were in room 905 no view but clean and suited us, fresh towels every day and shampoo ext replaced as needed. Lots of charching USB points in the room WiFi worked really well in our room.
Reception staff were so friendly big shout out to Veronica who took the time to look up subway trains so we could see the Macy balloons the day before the parade (not worth it wouldn't do it again).
The hotel takes a fee of $40 a day off you, but you can get a breakfast or meal or even just a coffee and charge it to your room and they take that out of your $40.
The restaurant is now called the B&L and was very nice shout out to Diana, shay, and Adina Aryel (manager) who were so helpful and gave us tips on our plans for that day at breakfast each morning we got the 2 eggs 1 hash brown and 2 slices of toast for $14 set us up nicely for the day. Oh toast they ask you if you want it white or brown for us British it is not white or brown bread but who toasted you want it we had 3 days of white toast before my husband twigged on.

It is located in a historic building and outside on the side you will find access to the subway or metro. A few meters away you will find a small square where they do events and there are also tables to hang out. The area is perfect and very accessible. In front there is a small market to buy drinks or snacks. Check in was very quick, we were assigned the two rooms on the same floor. Rooms with two beds are tight spaces, but I guess for NY it's pretty normal. The rooms were clean. In the bathroom we find shampoo, conditioner, cream and body gel. There is also an iron and hairdryer. Everything was fine, until the second night we realized that the room was warm and the cooling was off. So it proceeded to turn on again but turned off again later in our sleep. In the morning when we left we made sure to leave it on so that when we returned it was at a pleasant temperature because after spending a day walking and exposed to the high temperatures of Manhattan, we wanted to rest without passing heat. Upon arriving at the room he was suffocated, so he reported to reception and immediately sent a technician to check and his answer was that the air conditioner was in perfect condition and that this was a device that had motion detector, that if there was no movement the device would turn off, so it was suggested that we wake up in the evenings and walk around the room to turn it on. We stayed around 10 nights, already for the 8th night, the truth is that we were already tired and revealed by having to be waking up to turn on the device every time it was turned off. So they again reported to reception and sent another technician who told us that the refrigeration if it cooled, but honestly we no longer wanted to wake up three to four times each night to have to turn it on, so a change of room was requested. The staff at reception were very friendly and understanding for the situation, as they were apparently surprised at the dismal solution given to us by the first technician, who immediately assigned us a superior room and credit in favor. All the hotel staff throughout my stay were very friendly, it was my turn to see an event where young people were lining up for two days for a musical group event and the staff closest to the door always receiving them with kindness and respect. Something not widely seen in mls hotel services in California. I really recommend the hotel, if I would return, just making sure the refrigeration device is not with motion detector.

Great location, nothing more positive to add for this Hotel, extremely rude and listless staff both at the reception and at the Diner! The breakfast consumed at the internal Diner was nerve-wracking, with staff ignoring us and very long times to receive our orders (which were not even cooked)! They force customers to spend $40 / day because they are automatically charged to the tourist taxes (which are already high in themselves). In the room we did not have the right supply of towels and bath accessories (bubble bath, shampoo etc.) considering that we were 4 adult guests!!Icing on the cake extremely noisy heating in the room and hardly controllable!

The hotel is central and has a good level of cleanliness. We stayed with 4 other friends guests from 6 to 11 December, we occupied 2 doubles, quite confined spaces but more than enough for a limited stay. We enjoyed breakfast inside the small restaurant of the hotel pay daily what we consumed for cash. At check out we had to settle a bill of $359: $180 for tourist taxes (you pay per room and not to occupants, and this we knew of) and $180 for other taxes calculated on breakfasts made. Obviously we disputed the charge by showing all the payment receipts where the food costs, taxes applied and mandatory tips were detailed. They objected to us having signed a ‘promotion’ on food with a phantom discount of $15 on purchases (never had discounts, paid everything as per the average price list of an American breakfast $35 per person) and that the taxes were related to the promotion we signed. We requested at the reception to show us the signatures on the contract of this promotion which obviously they do not have. We wait for the refund, if there will be.. doubtful. Watch out, the cunning of the Martinique Hotel, absolutely not recommended.

Well the hotel is actually quite beautiful in the lobby and very historic, it did not meet the most basic of needs. The room itself is not so bad, not even terribly tight by New York City standards. The bathroom makes up for this in spades though because you simply cannot even open the door and be in the bathroom at the same time. They missed a great opportunity for a pocket door in this situation.
Were this hotel truly misses the mark is in it providing the ability to have a restful night's sleep. The heating and air conditioning system is one of those somewhat old school hump situations sticking out of the wall. It is controlled by a central thermostat, and they at least give you power over the temperature in the room, but the amount of noise it makes cycling on and off all night long makes it impossible to have a consistent, restful night. I even set the fan to stay on in order to try to minimize the cycling, but it literally snaps on and off with a whip sound that is just ridiculous.
The other area that is quite negative is the shower pressure. The water really does not come out with any force at all, and could be helped by lowering the height of the shower head, or even simply changing to a better shower head like many other hotel brands use.
The price was reasonable given its location and overall appearance, but given the fact that I could not get a simple night of sleep, I will not be back.

It's unfortunate to hear about some aspects of your stay that didn't meet expectations. The room arrangement's efficiency, HVAC system's noise, and shower pressure have been registered and will be considered with utmost priority. Our hotel prides itself on its unique historic charm and convenient location, and we aim to provide an optimum balance between aesthetics and comforts, such as peaceful sleep and a well-equipped bathroom. Our team members work toward ensuring guests have a restful stay and any discomfort you experienced does not represent the high standard we set for ourselves. We're dedicated to improving and your feedback is greatly appreciated. We hope that despite these inconveniences, we get another opportunity to provide you with the exceptional stay you deserve.

We stayed 8 nights and the experience was quite average. The room was quite small and very noisy despite being on the 12th floor. Room with minimal amenities and space, poor lighting, the air conditioning unit was super noisy and impossible to sleep with it on. We have been cold in April, terrible window insulation. The room did not have any additional blanket or pillow, we had to ask twice for a blanket. The hair dryer didn't work. We also had to request that they leave us more gel since they only refilled small bottles of conditioner and shampoo, the gel was only for the first day. Little water came out in the shower and the bathroom was quite small, you couldn't open the door properly because it hit the toilet. The hotel hall is quite nice and looks nice but the rooms do not correspond to a 4 star rating by any means. Cleanliness of the rooms is correct. At check-in, the hotel charges you about $525 on your card as a deposit. As if that were not enough, the hotel charges you an additional daily charge of $40 plus taxes that you can use to have some coffee or whatever you can, since the prices in NY are exorbitant. If you do not use that credit daily, you lose it since they charge you the same and it is not saved and accumulated for subsequent days, even though at check-in they told us that they were cumulative, the information being quite ambiguous. All this is charged to the room and at the end of 8 nights we had to pay an additional amount of $368. With this last surprise we had a quite uncomfortable situation since we did not understand some additional charges that the hotel had made on our card without warning and before check out. In the end we had to talk and clarify it with the hotel manager. In short, I do not recommend it at all, it was by far the worst of the trip.

We chose the Hotel Martinique based on its’ location and reviews. The location certainly did not disappoint – set in the middle of Koreatown and next to the empire State Building, the Hotel is ideally positioned to access all areas of New York by foot or Metro. The room was spacious (we took one with 2 queen beds and stayed there as 3 people) and clean. However, we were disappointed by a lot of elements: 1 – The Hotel is being renovated – there is a lot of construction noise during the morning at the higher levels, the hotel front is covered with scaffoldings 2 – We picked the option ‘Breakfast included’ – you get very limited choices of a set menu, and the quality is that of a basic diner 3 – The service – during breakfast, we had to ask 3 times before you get what we wanted. Even a simple coffee took more than 20mn to serve, where the cans are freely reachable for the personnel. The team was clearly overwhelmed and inefficient. Add to that some errors in ordering, the breakfast experience was, for a hotel of this standard, appalling. 4 – The hidden charges – between the tourist tax and the mandatory 15 USD per day charge for consumptions (whether you actually take something from the bar or not), this hotel added a significant amount of price vs. what was announced on booking websites All in all, for 3 nights, we paid more than 2000 Euros, where bed and breakfasts in more secluded places offer a better experience for way less money than that. Lesson learnt – not worth the money.

This review happened in June 2024. My wife and I went to New York for vacation and stayed at the Martinique for about 7 days in June 2024. The hotel was great. The staff was friendly, and the room was always cleaned, and they always restocked you with fresh towels, toilet paper, and soap and shampoo. The room was comfortable, and the AC worked. My only 2 complaints about the hotel room were first its size, it was really small and second it didn't have a refrigerator. But besides that, it was a great hotel and great stay. Also, I got the breakfast plan. I highly recommend it. They had a great menu and it all tasted great. It's worth getting the breakfast plan. The hotel is in a great location, it's close to everything you want to see. It's within walking distance to the 34th Street Macy's, The Empire State Building, Central Park, and Time Square. I highly recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

I'd love to be able to give this hotel a 5 based on the room we received, but sadly, the attitude of some members of staff was not great. We arrived early and knew that our rooms wouldn't be ready and that wasn't an issue for us. What was an issue was the lecture we got from the receptionist about it. At first, they couldn't find our booking, but after a 20-minute wait, it was sorted. The hotel is in a great part of town right by Macy's and the Empire State building. The prices in the bar are extortionate and if you're not dining, you're made to feel a little unwelcome. The grab breakfast was OK, noting special and we ventured out after day 1 and found a great bagel place at a quarter of the hotel cost within 5 minutes walk. The key with this hotel is to choose the right room type/category. If you book the cheapest room, you get what you pay for. We asked about a late check-out and were given a price of 100 US Dollars which we felt extortionate for three hours. We would return purely based on location. The staff weren't great, but it's seemingly the norm in many NYC hotels. It shouldn't be given the price. Make sure that you spend in the hotel the equivalent value of the destination fee otherwise you lose it.
