The hotel is in good location. Beds are clean but not comfortable. We think they need replacement. The hotel is still under renovation plan. When it is done, it should be a very nice hotel. They provide tea and coffee and hot chocolate 24 hours. We love the taste and smell of mint tea. We found that on this trip,... More

I would highly recommend this hotel, it is in a perfect location just off 5th Avenue. Everywhere is accessible by foot. The staff were extremely helpful and our dozens of tourist questions was no bother. The room and facilities were perfect. I would highly recommend this hotel.

First off, the elephant in the room.... The Evelyn is a building site with just one lift. First impressions as you rock up after a long flight are not good. The place is surrounded by scaffolding and tarpaulin and the reception is dark and dingy. So bank that... you're on holiday, wait a bit longer for the lift and get... More

As a disclaimer: The Hotel is currently undergoing renovation, so if youre rich and into all shiny and sparkly hotels, this is not the place. That being said for normal people this is perfectly fine and the reception have been decorated to cover the construction. As for the rooms they are small but cozy, spotless clean and a great little... More

Again, it would have been a lovely stay but guests next to the room were in a screaming match. Making it impossible to sleep! My guest in the room had to leave around 4/5 to walk because they were SO LOUD! The hotel itself was very nice! we would love to come back.

There was only one working elevator. The staff was not helpful, they did not help suggest restaurants or sites to see. Our simple equests were not met. The lobby was a mes. We will not return to the Evelyn

I have lived in NYC for many, many years. This was my first time visiting the city as a "tourist." Could not have been happier. Excellent location, totally reasonable rates, and lovely service. Wish I could have stayed longer, and definitely will stay here again in the future!

Hotel is on a nice location if you are going near Madison Square Garden but difficult to locate since the hotel sign is not visible. Rooms are small especially the closet and bathroom. Light is not good in the room and not homey. Elevator is very small and slow. Bed is not comfortable and not much room to put my... More

The Evelyn rooms are small as are most in NYC, but very efficient in the use of space. Housekeeping does a great job. There is only one elevator so if you are on one of the top floors, you will need to be patient. The lobby is a construction site. Once it is completed, I think it will be lovely... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Evelyn formerly The Gershwin Hotel is now offering newly residential inspired rooms with references to an Art Nouveau Style. Our NoMad hotel is inspired by the musical and art heritage of the neighborhood, which was the epicenter of the popular music industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The music theme is reflected throughout the rooms, corridors and bathrooms. The NoMad District (now also known as "NoMad" - North of Madison Square Park) is now one of Manhattan's most popular neighborhoods, characterized by its beautiful and historic architecture, exceptional bars and restaurants tucked away on quiet side streets, and many other attractions. Centered around Madison Square Park, the NoMad District is within walking distance of Midtown, Union Square, Greenwich Village, and NYU. ... more   less
