Great location, easy to find, helpful receptionist. Lovely large characterful room, clean and practical. Close to Grand Central, Time Square and Empire State. All walkable. Plenty of restaurants and deli cafes around the area too.

It is a hotel with a high amount of money, even if the water is taken out of the room due to certain precautions. Unfortunately everything is money from the hotels breakfast. Unfortunately the room is very small, but the most important thing is to get money for everything.

This is a great hotel at a real great location close to Empire State Building. Just go out if the lobby and you are there in the middle of Manhattan, NY. You could walk to nearly every interesting site or go home by subway if you are tired.

I stay at the Avalon almost every week on businees, and am continually impressed by the rooms, the ambiance, but most of all by the staff. Every single staff member is unfailingly friendly, professional, helpful and they make staying there so pleasant that it's impossible to even think of staying anywhere else in midtown Manhattan. The rooms are large, comfortable,...

We stayed here one night and the location and hotel was great. We really enjoyed it and looking forward to staying there again in the near future. This hotel is around the corner from the Empire State Building and about 8 blocks from time square, within walking distance.

I found this hotel through getaroom.com. Use the hotel. Don't use getaroom.com! The Junior Suites were very spacious. If you are staying for several days or have several people in your room, this should be your choice!

This was our first trip to NYC and we selected the Avalon for its location and budget, both of which did not disappoint. The trip from Newark airport cost us about $100 which included tolls and tip, wish we had used Uber but couldn’t at the time due to connection issues. On our arrival we were quickly checked in by...

We traveled to NYC on our semi-annual trip in April 2017, and skipped our usual hotel in Times Square because of uncomfortable beds and took a chance on the Avalon. The staff was always polite and helpful, and the room was one of the larger rooms we've stayed by NYC standards, barring suites at other properties. Room was very clean,...

really excellent location to tour all around New York --- the staff are very helpful. Had just bed only and went around the area to have breakfast lunch and dinner. Good sized rooms and very comfortable beds/pillows. The aircon was a bit noisy but you soon get used to it!!!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
