The Courtyard New York Manhattan / Times Square has received mixed reviews, with many guests praising its prime location near Bryant Park and dining options, as well as noting the positive atmosphere and welcoming staff. However, some travelers have reported inconsistencies in room cleanliness and comfort, with experiences ranging from spacious and well-kept to dirty and worn. While the on-site amenities like fast Wi-Fi are appreciated, concerns have been raised about the bedding and air conditioning. We stayed as a family for 5 nights to celebrate my daughter’s 4th Birthday.

One word: Exceptional.

I have read the other reviews, and myself have stayed in Marriotts across the world including Kingston, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, UK and visited Singapore Marriott on multiple occasions.

But, this property is very special. The entire team from front desk to engineering, housekeeping and restaurant are consistently providing a high level of service. Whether we were passing by, or requesting assistance or extra towels, nothing was too much trouble for the team and everyone always greeted us and ensured we had everything we needed for our entire stay.

The room we had was phenomenal, with a view of the Empire State, superbly clean, excellent A/C and heating, convenient mini fridge and big shower area, perfect for our needs. And I have read the other reviews about the lifts being slow, and having stayed for 5 nights (6 days) we didn’t experience this, it was quick and only on a couple occasions slow to arrive, but naturally this is due to the high occupancy of the hotel so is totally understandable, plus we were in no rush as we were on vacation. We also used the laundry facilities, which you pay via an App and can purchase Detergent and softner for $1 each, was excellent. It helped us maximize our time as the App alerts you when it’s done !!

Location is brilliant - 2 mins to Bryant Park, same for the Whole Foods Market and Starbucks, and a Chipotle and Joes Pizza about 5 mins walk. Times Square literally around the corner. We didn’t encounter any issues whilst we waited for taxis or just walking around, everyone was super friendly and helpful.

We will definitely stay again !

A big shout out to Vivian for bringing a smile to my daughters face every morning and your beautiful gift, Ian Morris for our chats about music and being a total legend, Miguel for always being super professional and his passion for Marriott shining through, and of course Ana who arranged a beautiful gift for my daughters birthday, we are truly grateful to you all and the entire team.

Thank you for an awesome stay and see you all soon !

A return back to our hometown with the lil ones and wanted that city feel! This place was tucked in the perfect spot to get around. Bryant Park, Joe's Pizza for the tourist stuff... walking distance to Grand Central, Carmines, local Banks, stores and numerous subways. Check in was smooth, rooms kept any outside noise out, AC pumped , water pressure was great and TV had all the necessary channels for the necessary background noise. Elevators were quick and the service was amazing. Shoutout to Miguel at the front desk, who was able to accommodate a room change request and that type of service keeps a customer coming back! Hotel felt safe and no noticeable rift raft on that specific street!

Great location, staff and reasonably priced. We stayed 3 nights with our family and I was very impressed. The bell staff was superb, and helped arrange seamless airport transfer ride. The front desk was always available for any need we had. They were responsive. The rooms were small as to be expected in a high rise NYC hotel. But were nice and recently updated. It was quiet and restful after long days touring the city. Would definitely stay again. The building is very tall, so being on a high floor we did not hear any street noise. Nice fitness and laundry facilities, we did not try the breakfast buffet, a little on the pricey side at $30, but there is a coffee bar which serves up Starbucks brews.

For context: I've stayed in a lot of Manhattan hotels; I know you have to shift your expectations here. The rooms are smaller. You'll wait forever for the elevator. It will be loud outside and there will be a pile of garbage in front of the lobby and construction next door and the hotel can't fix any of these things even if they wanted to.

Even given that, this was a particularly uncomfortable, unpleasant stay and I will never stay at this property again. When I checked in, they didn't have the king bed room I booked, so they put me in a two queen. Didn't tell me at the desk; I had to go up to my room and then come back down and ask about it. It was also the dirtiest hotel room I have stayed in in recent memory. Upon walking to my room, I could quickly see visible bits of trash/dirt on the floor, hair from at least five different individuals (!) scattered on the floor, in the bathtub, on the sink, on the sheets, and on the furniture. Weird oily stains on the furniture and a large, obvious coffee stain on the dust ruffle of the bed. Stains on the walls and headboard. Bathroom door cracked and splintering. Nearly every piece of furniture and trim was also visibly beat up. The bathtub and sink had permanent stains and marks. The mirrors in both the bathroom and bedroom had something splattered on them that hadn't been wiped off. Fraying carpet with a grimy texture from lack of cleaning. One of the dresser drawers didn't close fully and just hung open an inch ajar. Most mysterious of all, the prior guest or housekeeping chose to unplug and defrost the mini-fridge and so it just had an ice cube tray full of water sitting it in?

I asked to be moved but I was told they were full and this was the only room available (fine, it happens). Thought it might get better after housekeeping came on the second day, but in fact that just resulted in more other people's hair tracked into the room, and somehow fewer coffee pods and cups than I started with, including a coffee cup with visible dirt in it despite it being in one of those plastic sanitary liners.

I would still give this stay two stars and not one — there were some things that were ok or nice. On the plus side, the front desk staff were sympathetic, polite, and very pleasant to work with. However, they seemed to be limited in what they could do to address my issues. (They forward them to the manager who can issue some Marriott points, which they did.). This property is also in a very convenient location, very close to many major subway stops, Bryant Park, many restaurants, and a Whole Foods. And the rooms are larger than average for Manhattan, and I would probably describe them as nicely designed if they didn't look so obviously worn down.

If you are management from this hotel or from Marriott and want my photos of the condition of this room, please feel free to reach out. Room 402, stayed Sept 16-19 2024.

Dear emilynnnnn, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback regarding your stay. We deeply regret the condition of the room and the lack of cleanliness you experienced, as this is far from the standard we strive to uphold. We apologize for the inconvenience with your room assignment and for the oversight in housekeeping, which clearly did not meet your expectations. We are, however, pleased to hear that our front desk team provided friendly and sympathetic service, and we value your recognition of their efforts. Your comments will be shared with our management and housekeeping teams to ensure these issues are addressed immediately. We appreciate your understanding and hope to regain your trust in the future. The Courtyard New York Times Square is a strategically located jewel in the bustling metropolis. Its strong point is undoubtedly its proximity to Times Square, practically a stone's throw from the beating heart of the city. Despite the surrounding frenzy, the neighborhood is surprisingly quiet and safe, offering an ideal retreat for guests eager to explore the city that never sleeps.

Subway access just yards from the hotel adds an additional level of travel convenience, allowing guests to easily reach all of New York's major attractions. The staff, with their kindness and availability, contributes to creating a welcoming and familiar atmosphere.

The impeccable cleanliness of the hotel is evident in every corner, giving a sense of freshness and order. Fast Wi-Fi is an added bonus for those traveling for work or wanting to stay connected during their visit. Furthermore, the presence of a PC station with printer represents an appreciated service for those who need to carry out work activities during their stay.

Overall, my experience at Courtyard New York Times Square was more than positive. This hotel offers not only a quiet retreat in the heart of the action, but also a comfortable and welcoming base for exploring all that the Big Apple has to offer.

Disappointing I that for the price we paid there were several things that were not up to par ..
the entry has ugly plastic vines and flowers sidewalk to ceiling… live plants were hidden behind them! There were homeless right out beside this….
The pillows, sheets and towels had definitely been through many washes as they lacked the crispness of other Marriott experiences….
They offered to call a cab which we assumed was free, but it wasn’t! No mention of a charge and we did on our own after that….

The hotel is convenient. The rooms are clean. The beds are comfortable.
The hotel is quiet 'for the most part'. However, the doors to the rooms Bang shut. There were Several young girls in the room across the hall and they went in and out in the morning, a dozen times, each time banging the door. The door to the bathroom is a sliding door. It was heavy and hard to slide. It did not close all the way. The included breakfast was microwaved egg sandwiches. If I had known that, I would have not had it.

Booked this hotel last minute for a quick weekend trip after reading positive reviews. Arrived at check-in around 6pm after a long drive and once inside our room realized the spigot in the tub was missing and there were muddy boot prints in the tub. We immediately notified the front desk who moved us 5 floors down to a room overlooking a concrete wall and AC units. Not ideal but fine - the room at least appeared to be clean. It was small which is typical in NYC, but was laid out well in terms of space. That’s where the positives stop. The beds were so hard and uncomfortable that everyone woke up with back aches and there was a humming/buzzing noise that kept everyone up for 2 nights. Both those things led to cranky and tired travelers. Additionally, the streaming feature on the TV didn’t work, which is such a basic feature nowadays. The hotel did send an engineer up to attempt to fix it, but he was unable to and left saying that the boxes on the back of the TVs were controlled from outside the hotel. Overall, it just wasn’t a great experience and I would recommend looking elsewhere - there are certainly plenty of options.

Great staff. Good location and convenient to several subway lines and all the theaters.

Very secure building and requires your room key to use the elevators. Unlike a couple Hilton properties in the area I normally stay at, they have Kuerig machines in the room which is great and also unlike Hilton they will do daily housekeeping if you want and leave plenty of towels in the room.

Only complaint was the wifi is very slow. Was almost like being on dial up at times and I hate to connect to my iphone to stream Netflix. I selected the wrong option and it wouldn’t allow me to disconnect and get on the premium. Premium may work a lot better, but this was fortunately a personal trip but would have been irritating if this was a business trip and I was making zoom calls.
