Stepping out of our Lyft we were greeted by Jerry with “Welcome Back”. Jerry swiftly collected our luggage and we were swiftly checked in a snap . First time at the Moderne hotel and loved every minute. While the lobby is cozy there is a guest lounge on the 2nd floor with coffee & tea station and in the morning lovely baked goods. Our room had 2 beds and and a sparkling bathroom with bigelow products. Fresh water was dropped off everyday when the room was made up . The highlight was our new friend Khalid who greeted us at the sister property for the complimentary wine hour every day. Khalid worked and both locations and arranged for a luxurious ride to the airport. Our last day he arrived early to make sure we were safety on our way. Exceptional kindness and service from Khalid. If you are looking for a home while in midtown NYC look no further. Moderne hotel and its happy and professional staff is the way to go.

I had a great stay at the Moderne. While I do wish there were more amenities like a restaurant, coffee maker in the room, or a fitness center, it is a small hotel and at the price point it was well worth it. The rooms themselves are definitely four star quality and the Junior Suites are much larger than a typical hotel room. The staff is terrific all around and very, very supportive of your needs as a guest. For me, in particular Nidal at the front desk went above and beyond in helping me with a printing issue. She was terrific.

We stayed at the Moderne hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of November. The hotel is clean and the staff are top notch! Jerry & Andy (front desk) went above and beyond making our stay a wonderful one. If anything is less than perfect, they’ll take care of you! They were friendly, helpful, and engaging every time we came in or out of the hotel. Melvin (our Bell-hop) was superb too and made sure we were always taken care of from luggage to taxis.
The location is perfect - close to Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central Station and a short distant to attractions like Edge & Summit One (which I highly recommend also).
We stayed on the 8th floor suite - I highly recommend it! Beautiful, spacious and a nice patio. The hotel is clean and updated with modern decor. They also offer a lovely breakfast (coffee, tea, pastries, etc) served daily on the 2nd floor.
Parking was safe, secure & very convenient - right next door for $35/day for cars & $45 for suvs.
I would definitely go back again!!!

We had a really nice stay at The Moderne. Upon arrival, there were some problems with the credit card machine, and we had to wait awhile to check in, but not a problem. Melissa at the front desk was cordial and patient throughout our stay and is an asset to the hotel. The room was extremely comfortable - Deluxe King Bed Room - shower was great. The 2nd floor lounge is very nice with complimentary pastries and good options for coffee. Khalid handled our luggage and was always friendly and helpful. Great dining options up and down 8th Avenue and just a few blocks to Central Park. If you're going down to the Theatre District it's a nice walk - maybe 10 to 15 minutes, depending where your theatre is located.
Hint: If you're flying into LGA, the Q70 bus is free to the Forest Hills - 71st St station in Queens, and you can take the subway to 57th and 7th Avenue in Manhattan and just walk a couple of blocks to the hotel - $2.90 for the subway...compared to $45-$70 each way with Uber! But you have to be packing light as there are quite a few steps in the subway.

I am not sure if 2 or 3 is most appropriate but I'll give it a 3. Let's start on the positive: the room was clean and the housekeeping was friendly and efficient. However, on the negative side there are a few things that were disappointing. First, the room was very small. More importantly, if you're short, you can't reach the bath towels, which are perched on a ledge in the shower. I was only able to get it by standing on the think ledge separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom, and that isn't safe for someone who is more elderly. Also, there was one tiny soap bar, for two people. At the price the room cost, I think another soap bar could've been there. There also are no hooks in the bathroom and just one small towel rack, so it was hard to hang anything. There's a lounge on the second floor that offers coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc....I wanted hot chocolate, but there was none there on any of the three mornings I visited the lounge. There was coffee, however. Also, the elevator wasn't working one evening, which, hey, s*** happens, but when you only have one elevator, that can be a problem, and yes, they only have one. Finally, at checkout the host asked if there were any issues, and so we took the opportunity to mention some of the things above, but she did not seem interested, and if anything seemed surprised we were actually responding to the question she asked. Like it's something they say at checkout, but don't really care to hear. She didn't write any of it down. Anyway, for the price we paid (yikes), I expected far more. But giving it 3 stars because I don't think any of the things I noted were truly horrible.

Although this hotel is in a good location near the theater district-it was probably one of the worst hotel rooms that live had in 40+ years of frequent travel! An incredibly dark dingy room with only a tiny window facing a brick wall. The window was the type that is permanently sealed shut, so no chance of fresh air. And, to make things much worse, the AC only worked occasionally on days when the NYC temps were in the mid 80’s!
Also, I requested a 12:30 check out on Saturday-only 30 minutes later than the standard check out time-and it was denied!! In all my years of travel I don’t recall this ever happening before.
I would never even consider staying here again.

Great hotel with great staff. The woman at the front desk (wish i grabbed her name) and Khalid were wonderful. Kind, patient and helpful. 2nd floor has a common space with a tv and lounge space with hot drinks, iced water and even an electric tea kettle and microwave. We had a king bed room and was clean and enough room for us. There was a mini frig as well.
The bldg is older, so older heat source. Was hot in the room and maintenance came and shut off valve to heat. Cooled down enough and he was really nice about it. I asked about AC in warmer months and they have window units for that time of year.
TV in room had live tv or stream casting as well.
I’d stay here again for sure. Great location as well!! Close to theatres and Central Park.

The hotel was perfectly located just a few blocks from Times Square / theater district. The staff where all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well appointed and the beds where good. We loved the breakfast room on the first floor which was free to use for all guests. Opposite the hotel is a delicious bakery where we bought breakfast. The staff at the reception and cleaning staff where taking care of every need and where very communicative. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful and a bit whimsical with a colorful winding hallway to our room. The staff saw we were in a small king room with our son and kindly upgraded us to a room with a fold-out couch without us even asking - what service!! Beds are comfy, bathrooms are freshly renovated and the water runs HOT and the A/C runs COLD. 👌 And you really can’t beat this location. Could not recommend it more.

We first stayed here 2 nights December 2023, we liked it and came back 2 nights December 2024. Great little boutique hotel, great location in Hells Kitchen convenient to Central Park and Upper West Side, friendly staff including the doormen/bellhops and housekeeping. Rooms and bathrooms are modern, cool, pretty, clean and good size for a city hotel room. There is a hospitality room on the second floor where you can get coffee/tea with multiple types of milks in the refrigerator (Almond, Soy, Half & Half), a sofa, chairs, TV and large dining table with chairs. There is valet parking but we parked in a garage nearby. McGee's Pub is across the street, a great upbeat neighborhood pub (How I Met Your Mother based on this place) and many restaurants and things to do nearby. You really can't go wrong here.

There is no valet but there is a public garage just a short walk from the hotel. Call them to get the exact address and when you check-in the hotel will put a sticker on the ticket for their rate. I think it was $35/day but I’m sure it depends on the days of the week and time of year.
Yes it’s 4 blocks away on 55th st. Between 8th and 9th avenues!
We are about 5-10 minutes away from the parade route. For the best viewing, it will definitely be 10 minutes away.
