The Bentley is a great value for a stay on the upper East side, located close to several hospitals. My husband was scheduled for an emergent biopsy/ surgery at MSK. I initially booked 2 nights based purely on geography. The hotel is walking distance to the hospital & located next to a parking garage. I sent a note that I would need a prompt 3pm check in. Coming from southern NJ the hotel is located immediately on the right after the parking garage when you exit the FDR. I arrived at 11:30 to drop my suitcase & was told I could have my room early for no additional charge! I left my car at the MSK lot for the night & walked to the hotel without a problem. TV was not digital but that was not a priority. The room was musty at 11:30 but much better after letting the ac run & returning later. The sheets were clean, toiletries & soap were adequate & there was an excellent diner up the block. Yes, they don’t have coffee in the rooms but they offer full breakfast for $25 on site. This hotel is a great, albeit no frills bargain! After the biopsy it was determined in the early AM that my husband’s surgery was not required, . Initially he planned to spend the night with me in the city. When we got back to the room at 9am he felt ill & wanted to go home. I explained my dilemma to Jaria at the front desk & she arranged a credit! I was very anxious throughout my stay and the staff went out of there way to make a very difficult time easier. What more can you ask for - I would definitely return.

Room reeked of air freshner/perfume, one bed had strong perfume smell and the sheets looked rumpled, though the bed was made. The other bed smelled neutral and had pressed sheets. I was too tired to object to the perfume smell, but it kept me up all night. The air ventilation system was very noisy, going on and off all night. If you are going to be parking, check out the location of the garage first -- it's not easy to pull up to this hotel and then find parking because hotel is right next to the entrance ramp to FDR Drive. Very basic hotel, free coffee in lobby only. The perfume smell was a real turnoff for me.

Ok hotel, location near traffic bottlenecks. In addition, wifi speed was not good enough to work remotely. Unless other hotels of similar class and location are too pricey I would not return to it. There was construction around it too, with some noise, although not too bad.

Horrible Experience while staying at the Bentley and dealing with the Hotel Manager, Steve Park. I stayed at the hotel in January for 2 nights with my friend, in February for 3 nights and I will never go back to the hotel again. The first stay we encountered low water pressure, so it was a problem taking showers. I booked again in February and there were issues with the heater which kept the room hot. The thermostat didn't work properly. The second night an engineer came to "fix" the heater. The same problem occurred as it was blasting hot air which made it hard to breathe. I was being treated for a sinus infection and told the front desk. I went to bed at midnight and got up at 4 a.m. as it was unbearable. The third night, I had to worry about not having water. The water was turned off from 9 p.m. until after 9 a.m. or later the next morning. (BTW - the water seems to be turned off a lot as I heard from family who stayed at the hotel.) I spoke to Steve Parks who said he was going to compensate me for $443 for the inconvenience. This did not happen, so after multiple attempts to reach Steve Parks, I called the hotel, finally got ahold of him and he placed me on hold to never speak to me again. I was left on hold for more than an hour. I called on another line and was told he left the building. This is the kind of service the Bentley gives its guests. Steve Parks does not want to hear from you and your complaints. The hotel is old, not that clean, the carpets are dirty, and the bathroom had rust stains in the shower. When you book at a hotel, a person should not have to worry about having a room that the furnace is broken or there is no water to go to the bathroom or brush your teeth. The Bentley was an old office building and is not conducive to operating as a hotel. My family has stayed at the hotel and had similar problems. Book at another hotel - the Lombardy or the Fitzgerald and not waste your money on the Bentley.

Requested early check, was told maybe possible, did not happened. Instead returned back at 3pm standard check in and was told reserved room was still not available. Shortly after another 15min room became available. Sadly the room was missing a few amenities that sealed the deal to request a refund and cancel reservation and checked into another hotel with excellent amenity services.

Future travelers - Please do not consider this location because if you do - you will feel bent out of shape and very disappointed.

Note to property managers of Bentley Hotel - please consider taking better care of property and update front lobby, lobby bathrooms, front desk, most importantly pictures do not reflect true property guest rooms.

Respectfully,
Disappointed traveler

The location of the Bentley worked well for us. Very close to NYC hospitals and medical centers. Perhaps because of the location the hotel feels that it does not need to put more effort into the services. The hotel is like a budget motel. No charm, does not feel clean, dark hall, chipped woodwork. Our bathroom lacked glasses, the sink was missing stopper, no grab bar in the shower, no exhaust fan, limited towels. The room was to warm in the mid 70s even turning off the heat did not stop the unit from pumping out heat. The desk was missing a chair. The rug was pulling away from the wall and rumpled up. A tripping hazard. The check in process was slow. The front desk had only one staff and the process did not appear to be computerized. And we could smell weed in the halls. My husband would give the hotel one star. For me the location upped the rating. In short, find another place to stay

Atrocious service. Absolutely disgraceful for service industry "professionals" to do business like this. I traveled the red eye from Costa Rica getting into NY at 5am in the snow. I make my way to the hotel freezing my huevos solid. Get there to be told my reservation was canceled due to no show. Now I had emailed them asking if I could pay to check in early their response was rent the room an extra night to ensure it was available. So I shelled out another 400 bucks to get the extra night. Had my father drop off clothes for me on monday confirming my reservation. As well as an email from me confirming I had the room and I would be arriving a day late. I recomend a bench in Central Park over this place, at least you know it'll be there when you need it.

This hotel has declined since a past visit 3-4 years ago. At the entry, the overhang is crumbling away in disrepair, and with rain there was a barricade to prevent the debris from falling on your head--not a good 1st impression. The front staff was cold. Then the room had only a bath towel, with no hand towel or wash cloth. There is no coffee machine in the room and no coffee available in the hotel. The staff directs you to walk a block away, but I would not suggest any such walk for a visitor at night for food or drink. On my visit, there wasn't even a cup in the room for water.
The appeal of the hotel is the large room sizes, tall ceilings and views out the large windows, but not enough to make up for the weaknesses.

We experienced many of the same problems mentioned in other reviews. There was one washcloth the first day; never saw another one. Three towels and three pillows - for two people. We did receive an additional towel and an additional pillow when we requested.

I knew there would be no coffee maker in the room based on other reviews, so we actually brought a small one of our own, which luckily had travel mugs because no cups/glasses in the room. When I asked for some at the front desk, someone brought paper cups up.

We stayed 5 nights. Our key cards stopped working 4 times in that amount of time. Cards were finally replaced, not just recoded, but this didn't make any difference.
The website shows the bar has reopened, but that was not the case when we were there in early October. The website also bills the hotel as "steps from Central Park." We weren't fooled by that because we know where 62nd and York is and we know where Central Park is, but be aware, it's actually 1 mile, around 2250 steps. I guess everything is steps away from everything else if you walk far enough.

Midweek the weather became rainy, windy and cold. We tried to set the thermostat to warm up the room, but it never got above 63 degrees. We complained at the front desk, and they said they would send someone up. To fix the heat? No - to bring us as SPACE HEATER. There is a sort of sitting area separate from the bedroom so we ended up needing two space heaters. After stonewalling us and suggesting that the thermostat was broken, we finally found out that alI though it was October with temps in the 50's and the heat had not been turned on for the season. The furnace was actually off.

I can deal with things not being perfect, but as my husband said, it was death by a thousand cuts. Every day a new problem awaited us (after we went down to the lobby and waited in line with people checking in and out until we could finally get our room key fixed again).

The staff was nice and tried to help. I could never tell if they were actually somehow naive about all the problems, or really good at pretending each problem was some new isolated incident.

We won't be back.

I took 3 rooms at the Bentley Hotel because it was within walking distance of the wedding venue we were attending. Past reviews made me question my decision a million times but I’m so glad I stuck with this property. Location was fabulous for walking around the city. Front desk staff was very welcoming and competent. In NY I expect a small room and I got one, but it was very clean and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The maid replenished the toiletries on my second day and left plenty of fresh towels. My room was very warm when I arrived. I called the desk and I had barely hung up before a maintenance worker was up there fixing it for me. The elevators were quick and the bell staff was also very helpful. Maybe people aren’t used to NY hotels but I wasn’t paying well over $1000/room/night for 3 rooms that probably would have been just as small and had an arrogant staff. Bentley Hotel was actually a bargain for the excellent service my family and I received.

When did this become a sanctuary living facility for illegal migrants? I’ve stayed at this lovely hotel for many years and was sad to see the hotel closed. ELY on YouTube showed this was clearly the case. I’m just wondering when this happened as my tax dollars are paying for this.

The hotel is affiliated with a parking garage behind it, however, it is VERY expensive. The hotel initially told me that they do not give discounts for the parking, and upon check out a week later, someone told me they did. The parking attendants in the garage are rude and seem very shady. There is an app that you can use to get discounts, and the parking attendants don't like it. They try to get as much money from you as possible. I would recommend finding another hotel.
