In the complete chaos of NYC, the staff at Hotel Wales welcomed my adult daughter for a month long stay! An intimate Boutique Hotel, with the comforts of home, in a lovely neighbourhood, on Museum Mile, a block from Central Park. What more could you ask for? A special thanks to all the staff who were so helpful and accommodating:... More

We stayed here for a week. It is in a quiet neighbourhood opposite Central Park. There are plenty of deli's, diners and cafes nearby for breakfast. We often bought a selection of delicious pastries and had them with coffee on the roof top terrace. The hotel is old fashioned and the rooms reflect that. But I think the pricing structure... More

This place has something special going on. We wanted an affordable place in Upper East Side in walking distance to the Met, the Frick, and the Guggenheim. A block from Central Park, the Hotel Wales is also about a ten-minute walk to the southwest from the Guggenheim. The building is old but stately and well maintained. The staff is unfailingly... We enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel very much indeed. It was the first time we had stayed at the Wales Hotel. We have stayed in New York City quite a few time and did not wish to stay in the tourist areas. The location is in a residential area which proved to be very useful. Besides being in the"museum"... More

Stayed here with my family, including 3 teen/ tween children and we were very comfortable in a suite, which is so hard to find in NYC. We absolutely loved the rooftop - beautifully landscaped with patio tables, music playing, and views of the Jackie Onassis Reservoir. Perfect spot for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. The second floor also... More

My husband and I used to live in NY, but moved to Michigan to raise the family. We came back to visit, but wanted to stay in the city so my teenagers can experience Manhattan. Now i dont even know how old this building is or what is was used for, but i could picture small European families living here trying to eke out a living for themselves in each of the 'apartment' rooms. Stayed for 6 nights. Lovely large clean room and bathroom with great views of Central Park. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
