We were greeted by a friendly night concierge who greeted us by name when we walked in and was genuinely concerned because our plane was delayed and we arrived after midnight. She gave us tips for breakfast and made us feel welcome. The room was good sized for a New York hotel. Nice shower, comfortable bed. Location is close to... More

Spent Friday-Sunday weekend in June at Hotel Wales with a group touring art museum exhibitions. Certainly convenient location for that activity. Had classic queen room to myself facing inner part of hotel, so no view....but no problem since no street noise. Glad just me, because could not have maneuvered easily with another person in the room. Clean! But shower controls... More

The experience was nice. Although my family had a little communication problem, no big issues happened at the beginning of their stay. When I arrived, two days earlier, I felt home at the hotel. A centenary hotel, located at Carnegie Hill. If you walk, it is a bit far from Times Square, but is really close to nice museus and... More

We stayed in a queen suite in the Hotel Wales. This room was perfect for us as it had two sizeable rooms that accommodate a couple of teens plus us parents. At 440 sq ft the room was much larger than anything I had stayed in while visiting NY before. The one issue I had was that we were looking... More

The boutique hotel was very nice and the staff helpful. It has several very good restaurants. Rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. Located in the Carnegie Hills section in Manhattan, it is one block from Central Park. The are many museums and galleries in the area.

Comfortable and clean room, quite small, but not unusual for NYC. Lovely welcoming cool punch drink in lobby on returning late afternoon (if you arrive in time) - nice touch. Great location - not far from mid Central park. Nearby buses direct to Manhatten. Nice roof terrace. Yes the aircon was noisy - resolved by leaving it on during the... More

Like many others, I was visiting New York from long out of town to attend Governor's Ball. I booked a room at Hotel Wales on a whim, knowing I had friends staying at the same place. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
