Strike 1: Checked into Waldorf Astoria last Saturday. Arrived at 8am from Hong Kong and was told there was no room yet. Fair enough - check in time was not until 3pm. As I got a bad cold on the way, front desk said they would try to get a room for me as soon as possible and will call...

The lobby and public rooms are absolutely gorgeous. It seems as if there are chandeliers everywhere. Arrived at 2:30 for a 3pm check in and had to wait until 5:45 for a room. Needless to say, we missed a good friend's art show because check in took so long. Mary in the diamond concierge department is a true gem though....

My husband decided to take me to new York for my big 50 birthday and told me I could pick any hotel I wanted. Well all I remembered was the Waldorf. We booked the room but then read the reviews, I was slightly concerned with some of them but decided to go with an open mind and see for myself...

It is a triumph of Art Deco and you can sense the opulence and grandeur of its past. But if you want the hot water to work or not be woken by the banging and crashing of next door you should pick a another place. I stayed for 2 nights after a long haul flight and could not have a...

We were able to get a good rate for two nights and it was a good opportunity to experience this famous hotel. Walking into the marble lobby and then the wood panelled Reception was very inspiring. "Check in" was friendly. It was obvious though that whilst the rooms were (old) elegant it desperately looked tired, especially the bathroom area. Overall...

Please don't bother coming here because you've heard of the name! The staff are rude and obnoxious -sir Harry's bar is closed and the concierge didn't even know when it might open!! Peacock alley was full and we were treated very badly We've spent £4k on rooms! Never again! I'm sure there's better hotels who treat their Clients better! Terrible!...

I recently stayed at the Waldorf for my very first time, and I was not disappointed!! It was just as elegant and comfortable as I'd always imagined. The beds were super comfortable, all of the amenities were just perfect, and the service was great! I definitely will stay there the next chance I get!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
