    Exemplary
Stayed 10 days over Christmas . The entire experience was superb. For 22 years I have relentlessly supported Marriott as an elite Bonvoy member however following my stay at this property I will never consider the “cookie cutter “ impersonal , rule based authority imposed by large chain properties. This hotel has opened a whole new experience destroying any preconceptions that the large chain operations offer more it is simply not the case in fact the opposite . The large hotel conglomerates, are in my opinion, following this stay impersonal, disingenuous and hyped by marketing hypocrisy. The Michelangelo Hotel is grand but intimate, the service non intrusive but impeccable, the rooms of large proportions offering a quiet retreat from the chaos of Times Square that surrounds. The decor is ageing opulence. The breakfast is wonderful with an extensive a La carte menu coupled with attentive service that is imparted by the dedicated F&B team . My room was a one bed king suite which was huge by any standard with two marble bathrooms . Housekeeping service outstanding . The location could not be better . If you are expecting a pristine , bland cookie cutter pedestrian chain hotel this is not for you. From my perspective this hotel offers perfection , no crowds, no noise , caring staff and a timeless intimate quality that is rare to find anywhere in this day of “chain sameness “. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly . I will be returning without doubt .

Superb Hotel in Heart of NYC
We just returned from a mid-week stay in NYC at the incomparable Michelangelo Hotel. This is my 7th or 8th visit to this hotel and each time I am extremely impressed with this unique property. The property has an old European elegance vibe and the location is excellent - close to transit, restaurants, shopping and near enough to Time Square and the theatre district. We love the spacious rooms (especially the larger bathrooms) and the furniture in the rooms - old world charm. The staff at this hotel are all exemplary professionals from the doormen who help you in and out of the hotel to the front desk staff and the maids. Customer service is excellent and staff go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect. Special shout out to Susanna the maid on the 4th floor this weekend! The doormen are the super heroes of the hotel as are the front desk staff. Absolutely love this hotel and will return in March and again in June. I have been here 7 or 8 times and my stays get better ands better!! A bit more pricey but worth every penny!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful review with us, Kim! We're thrilled to hear you had such an enjoyable experience at Michelangelo Hotel New York! We also appreciate your kind words regarding our team. We're pleased to know that you felt valued by each member of our top-notch team. We strive to provide our guests with the warmest hospitality and most efficient service, so this is fabulous to hear! Your praise is not only rewarding, but also encouraging. We'd love to share yet another unforgettable visit with you someday! Have a great day!

    Return Visit to Michelangelo
Stayed at The Michelangelo over President's Day / Valentine's Day weekend. Needless to say, NYC was jammed. We had plans for Broadway shows, an event at Carnegie Hall, dinners at Le Bernardin and Tratoria Dell Arte among others, and a visit to MOMA. The Michelangelo could not be in a better location and we were able to walk to all of those events even though it was very cold that weekend and we are in our 70's. It was also a short ride to get to the High Line, Hudson Yards and the gentrified Meat Packing District which we hadn't seen before. The Michelangelo has a true European vibe. We had a full suite (with two bathrooms !!!) and paid a fraction of the price that we would pay at the better known hotels where we usually stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the concierge was quite helpful for directions and restaurants in the neighborhood. It is a smaller property without a fancy restaurant, but they do have breakfast, lunch and dinner available with a somewhat limited menu. The bar is comfortable and open late and was a good place to meet people from locals to international travelers. It draws an interesting and nice crowd. We would highly recommend this hotel for its atmosphere, location and value.
Thank you for taking the time to leave this wonderful review, CANONDRIVE! We're thrilled to know you enjoyed your stay at Michelangelo Hotel New York so much! We strive for excellence so we're pleased to hear you appreciated not only our prime location and spacious accommodations, but also our friendly staff! Your praise lets us know we're succeeding! We can't wait to host you again for yet another unforgettable visit! Have a lovely day!

We enjoyed a great stay at The Michelangelo Hotel. The staff were excellent in particular we’d like to mention Edwin the Bellman, Theodore the Doorman and lovely Carmen the bar server. Everything was so comfortable and welcoming. Great room size and super location. The food is excellent too. Highly recommend.

Good location, but as others stated, the rooms need updating especially the curtains and lighting. We also felt for the cost of a 4 star hotel it would have been nice to offer a few free bottles of water upon arrival especially when it was over 90 degrees outside. No perks ar all offered at this hotel.

First time we stayed at the Michelangelo. True class act. We were celebrating my birthday. There were balloons, sweets and a chilled bottle of bubbly waiting for us when we checked in. Room was beautiful and very spacious. Front desk was extremely accommodating and professional. Will definitely be back. Great location, great experience.

I was very disappointed with how run down the Michaelangelo has become. Our family has stayed here for decades, the last visit 6 years ago. It was our “go to” hotel in NYC. The room was old, smelled of mothballs, and is in desperate need of modern up dates and repairs/renovations. There was mold on the window sills from peeling paint, the bathroom faucet leaked, faded dark stains on the light carpet, dinged up trim paint, dilapidated dirty silk curtains- overall the room was tired and dirty. There are no usb ports in the room at all. The beds are comfortable, variety of pillow styles, but that’s about it. Sadly, until this hotel invests in some renovations and upgrades, this will be our last stay- bittersweet.

The Michelangelo is my favorite place to stay in midtown. Location is great- close to Time Square, but away from the craziness, walkable to the Park and shopping. Parking is convenient and well-priced. The rooms are HUGE by NYC hotel standards! From standard rooms to suites, I've never had a bad room. Ample work space, fast wifi, lush bathrooms (the huge soaking tub is major sellng point for me), great amenities, and comfortable beds. This hotel is SAFE. Housekeeping is wonderful. My most recent stay (8/30 to 9/2, room 729) brought me the absolute sweetest room attendant. The Front Desk staff is always knowledgable and helpful. The Bell Staff is like none other! Everyone greets you each time you arrive, they hold doors, carry bags, turn on lights when you check in, show you how to operate the thermotat, etc, and are overall old-school hotel staffers. They are so wonderfully friendly and helpful, I wish I knew every single one of their names to applaud them all. Edwin helped me quite a bit this trip. Note: When I checked in for my most recent stay I was informed of a daily beverage credit at the lobby bar. I wasn't able to take advantage of this; the bar was never open when I was on site. If this is a must for you, plan accordingly. Love, love, love The Michelangelo!

It was a great trip until we checked out at 4:30 in the morning and we’re told that we owed $800 Canadian for incidentals in our room. When we booked we were told that our bill was paid in full when we checked in they did a $500 incidental fee on our visa and said oh this is just in case you use anything I said no we won’t be using anything, they told us there are two bottles of water free in the room every day. Then upon checkout we were dinged with an outrageous bill of $800 for their fees, etc. we were not informed that this was going to be a must when we checked in they never commented that there would be other fees, or could be other fees upon leaving , it was nothing but a big rip off and ruined our trip New York you disappoint and I have read in New York articles. The Taurus are feeling very ripped off. I have a print out of the outrageous fees that you charge and how you scandalize your tourists who come to your city. You should’ve had the decency to tell us when we checked in there will be additional fees and what those fees will be as an outline last time in New York for me, even though this was my fifth time there at least at the Marriott when we stayed there, we were told upfront there would be an extra cost per day, but in exchange for that… We were given vouchers for drinks in the restaurant breakfast in the restaurant and also vouchers to take the tours. That was a little easier to swallow but in Michelangelo you did not get it right and I do expect that I will hear from you with an offer to re-examine this policy, regardless of what other hotels in New York do. Thank you.

We love this hotel so much! We have been staying here for over 20 years. There is no other place I would stay in the city. The fact that they have had most of the same staff the entire time speaks volumes. Everyone from the doormen to housekeeping remembers us, which is just magic! Luna and Carmen of course knocked it out of the park again!
